"Woe to you rich for you have already received your consolation". Italy holds the European record of the plague of social envy

"WOE TO YOU RICH BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED YOUR CONSOLATION". ITALY HOLDS THE EUROPEAN RECORD OF THE SCORE OF SOCIAL ENVY

It's not the first time, in ten years of pontificate, that we start from man to arrive by reflection at Jesus Christ or that we start from Jesus Christ to put not even man at the center, but a figure of a privileged man: the poor. This style was used by Bishop Tonino Bello, of which the imprudent Bishops of Puglia opened the diocesan phase of the beatification process, arrived today at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

.

Over the past years I have had several times, while everyone was silent, to point out that certain calls of the Supreme Pontiff Francis on the poor bordered in part on obsessive neurosis and in part on the meandering ideology. Today this fact is publicly complained of by the same people who yesterday told me "be careful", or "you are not opportune and prudent", or worse that they scolded me: “How dare you criticize the Holy Father?». I point out that these seconds then suddenly woke up years later, on the threshold of seventy, when they had to come to terms with the reality that the coveted episcopal nomination had not come and would never come. Like this, by magic spell, they discovered that even a Supreme Pontiff can be the object of criticism and that in this sense, the history of the Church, even the recent one, teaches us how, sometimes even harsh and severe, many predecessors of the August Pontiff have been criticized more inside than outside the Church. Expenses, like myself, he has always been a student of the dogmatic councils of the Church and knows something about them.

The 23 June 2023 the Holy Father received in audience a large group of artists to whom he recalled:

«I would like to ask you not to forget the poor, who are Christ's favorites, in all the ways in which one is poor today. Even the poor need art and beauty. Some experience very harsh forms of deprivation of life; because of this, they need it more. They usually have no voice to make themselves heard. You can interpret their silent cry" [full speech, WHO].

This exhortation it is clear in its construction and structure: the central element is the “ideological poor”, while the accessory that serves to enhance the dreamlike and surreal figure is Jesus Christ. So the poor are at the center, sideways to follow Jesus Christ who prefers the poor elect to a privileged category compared to all the other children of God.

Among those artists present, most were people who consider abortion a great social achievement and an intangible right, euthanasia is a gesture of great humanity towards a terminally ill person, which claim the "right" to marry between same-sex couples and the consequent "right" of the adoption of children by same-sex couples and the use of surrogacy, or so-called surrogate uterus. Most of them are subjects who jump from one cohabitation to another, or that after collecting two divorces they finally decided to live together avoiding further problems of legal separations, then going around the televisions to boast the wonder of theirs “extended families” … Well, I'm not saying that they should be given a lesson in Catholic morality, it would have been inappropriate and extremely counterproductive, But, it cost so much to tell them: "Dear artists, do not forget Jesus Christ, that is the beginning, the Centre and the ultimate goal of our entire humanism, as art itself reminds us in its highest and most noble expressions». Maybe it cost a lot, also because several of these artists, who also live in the ostentation of unbridled luxury, they sure walked out happy saying: "Finally, a Pope who speaks of the poor!». It is in fact known and known that the Church, of the poor, he only started dealing with it ten years ago, certainly not since the first apostolic age. Therefore, all of our institutions, foundations and works of the great men and women saints of charity who have assisted poor families for centuries, children, orphans, disabled, lonely and abandoned old people, they are just optical illusions. In truth, inside the Cottolengo in Turin, there is a beauty farm run by nuns, a five-star spa, not a care center for people with severe physical and mental disabilities. Our Caritas, for those who don't know, are born after February of 2013, because they didn't exist before. In truth, the very word Caritas was invented under this pontificate. If the Blessed Apostle Paul had known it at the time, who knows how many beautiful reflections he would have written on it, perhaps he would even say that of all the virtues, the most important, it was just charity [The Cor 13, 13]. But unfortunately, at the time, the concept of charity was unknown and the Blessed Apostle Paul missed that beautiful opportunity.

It's not the first time, in ten years of pontificate, that we start from man to arrive by reflection at Jesus Christ or that we start from Jesus Christ to put not even man at the center, but a figure of a privileged man: the poor. This style used by the Bishop Tonino Bello, of which the imprudent Bishops of Puglia they opened the diocesan phase of the beatification process, arrived today at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

A dutiful aside to correct the obvious ignorance that even winds its way through certain ecclesial and ecclesiastical circles: the ongoing one of Tonino Bello is not a cause for canonization, as indicated by the official website of the Diocese of Molfetta but a cause for beatification. In fact, by canonization we mean the opening of a process to achieve the canonization of a blessed, that is, to proclaim a saint a blessed. And with this everything is soon said about the times that are running and that unfortunately we have to suffer and live [cf.. WHO].

Is the first time - or at least I have no historical memory in this sense - that a process of beatification is opened for a Bishop who in the course of his entire life has shown a disturbing ignorance in matters of doctrine, advocate and promoter of an embarrassing but above all non-Catholic Christology, to follow with a Mariology sometimes bordering on completely involuntary blasphemy. Tonino Bello, in fact heterodox, he was the forerunner of the social bishops with the wooden cross around his neck and the carpentry crozier in his hand produced in the workshop of Mastro Geppetto, after this famous carpenter from Collodi's famous novella had built not a single Pinocchio, but many little episcopal pinocchios made in series.

Some reply: «But Tonino Bello was good!». I do not doubt it. Or that maybe, Arius and Pelagius, they were bad? There are reports to that effect? St. Augustine, who at Pelagius opposed him severely [cf.. WHO], questioned his heretical thinking, he didn't say it was bad.

The Fourth Lateran Council the 1215 who condemned the millenarian heresy of Gioacchino da Fiore - with all due respect to those who today want to attribute those thoughts to others and not to him - did not claim that the Florentine was bad, quite the opposite! While on the one hand this Council condemned the errors of his thinking, at the same time, the fathers, they reaffirmed his undoubted virtues and his holiness of life. To be good, or be sensitive to the poor, it does not mean being men of solid and orthodox doctrine, least of all be saints. A good subject is not as such automatically in line with the doctrine, the thought and perennial magisterium of the Church. Tonino Bello's is a thought that abounds in numerous and gross heresies, His writings and public speeches prove it. However, it may be that the Bishops of Puglia have identified a patronage that until now had remained uncovered. In fact, there is even the patronage of repentant prostitutes, of which she is the patron saint Margherita of Cortona, however, there was still no Patron Saint of heretics. It may be that the Bishops of Puglia have thought of promoting their countryman Tonino Bello in this sense, from which then comes to life that insidious thought that many of us call theologians toninobellismo.

In the Sermon on the Mount, also known as the Beatitudes, Jesus Christ says: « But woe to you, rich, because you have already received your consolation" [LC 6,17-20.26].

It is perhaps a primordial manifesto of the future class struggle? No, in truth it is primarily a translation error, of those that abound above all in the versions of the Italian Episcopal Conference, as our author Monaco Eremita recently pointed out in one of his articles [see WHO]. This opening «But woe to you, rich», in our spoken lexicon it sounds like a threat. Indeed, in the Italian vocabulary, the word "woe" is indicated as a threatening exclamation. The literature confirms this, just think of the figure of Charon, the boatman who leads the damned to the place of eternal perdition, than in Dante's work, in Canto III of the Inferno, there:

«And behold, an old man is coming towards us by ship, white for ancient hair, shouting: “Woe to you, they make anime! Never hope to see the sky: i’ I come to take you to the other side in eternal darkness, in heat and in frost. What if you’ there, living soul, departed from these who are dead”».

In its etymological meaning and according to the best literature, the word "trouble" constitutes a serious and very specific threat.

Forget the irony: I who at the time did not do the Blessed seminar ― because as an adult consecrated priest forty years old I had another kind of adequate training ― I studied Greek and I know it, unlike those who escaped from the moderns holy seminars in which instead of Greek English is studied and instead of Latin the sociologisms transmitted by the various educators who offer the disciples the tender thoughts written on the Baci Perugina maps, instead of the solid bread of the great Holy Fathers and Doctors of the Church. In the Greek text of this Lucan Gospel the expression is used Oὐαι (yeah), which is by no means a menacing curse, but an expression equivalent to alas, or to use an archaism of', all to tenderly express a sense of regret. Expression in which wealth is used as a paradigm to express something else: selfishness, the lack of altruism and generosity, attachment to material things, that I'm not just the money, because attachment to certain lifestyles or thoughts can be far more harmful than the morbid relationship with material wealth. So praise follows "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" [LC 6,17-20.26]. Praise certainly not referring to the fact that being poor is a note of merit to the point of deserving eternal salvation for this. By poor in spirit are meant those, whether rich or poor in money, who have won the freedom of God's children through that truth which, once known, will set us free [cf.. GV 8,28].

What items like this underestimated them an obvious incomplete theological as Tonino Bello, it is undoubtedly a serious matter, because a bishop is high priest and teacher. But, if these items, ignores them and underestimates the teacher and supreme guardian of the doctrine of the Catholic faith, it is disturbing to say the least. This is why we are in disarray in the way we are now sadly and tragically reduced.

Let's move on to the second and last part of this speech. For some weeks now, the television networks and newspapers have been talking about the large flow of tourists to Italy, emphasizing the fact that hotels and i resort that offer extra luxury services are all full, to such an extent that it is not possible to find a place. The Rai and Mediaset television editorial offices have unleashed their journalists to film and broadcast interviews made to the directors of these structures who, when asked to them, replied that the costs of certain suites ranged from five, may be, up to the beauty of 15.000 Euro per day. A few minutes later reports were broadcast to various families of the proletarian people explaining how they could not take their holidays, given the increase in prices, or that they could have done them in a climate of tight economy by basing them on the most careful savings.

The worst thing you can do on a journalistic and media level it is to foment the instinct of social envy, which in Italy does not need to be fomented, because if it were a sport, we Italians will hold the absolute primacy at the European level.

Although not an economist and less than ever inclined to be a know-it-all who launches himself into professions that are not mine that pertain, applying the basic logic of common sense, I regret the presence of such biased services that instigate de facto social class hatred. If in fact in our country, centers that offer such extra-luxury services, they have no vacancies and are booked throughout the summer, above all, this should rejoice precisely the children of the proletarian people. Simple reason: how much work staff is needed to offer hotel services at similar stratospheric costs? For each suite we need four permanent waiters who continuously cover a service of two by two 18 hours, not to mention the relative staff necessary to offer as many similar services for breakfast, for second breakfasts and dinners, for pool services and all the others comfort offered. Therefore, i priest, mothers, the children and grandchildren of the proletarian people should be the first to rejoice, because all this is called: jobs. Unless you prefer parasitic citizenship income to the workplace, what for some years went not to the needy not able to work or out of work, who had such a sacred right to it and who must be helped and supported, but to the smart ones, the highest percentage of which were found to be present, whore, in the city of Naples, the bad racist anti-southernists didn't say it, but the data of the various state agencies. Because this is what extra-luxury tourism produces: jobs. Or someone thinks that the cheap pension of Rimini for the cheap holidays of the proletarian people, at the cost of 70 euro per day room and breakfast, can produce as many jobs, in addition to the turnover that this type of clientele can create around these structures for the benefit of restaurants, luxury shops or jewelers where there is not even a brooch below the minimum cost of 10.000 Euro?

I remember a few decades ago, when I was a kid, the protests of certain activists of the proletarian population to the cry "the beaches and cliffs belong to everyone" and that "everyone has the right to sea and sun". The class struggle in question was linked to the fact that in the exclusive and expensive area of Monte Argentario, in the lower Tuscan Maremma, the owners of the villas on the cliffs had prevented access to the sea to the proletarian population. Various associations, all and strictly of a specific colour, they began to file complaints, until the magistrates, maybe the same color, they ordered the opening of the gates and fences of certain properties, or in any case the creation of passageways so that the proletarian people could exercise their right to the sea and the sun.

These are the results: within a season many cliffs became a destination for large groups of noisy people who then left garbage and bottles of soft drinks among the rocks, screaming and listening to portable stereos blaring at full volume. A considerable damage to the environment and to that delicate ecosystem, which is one of the most beautiful and uncontaminated in Italy. The dirty rich people thus began to desert the area and go to Sardinia or to the Côte d'Azur. Neither the magistrates were affected by this, whose salary was guaranteed, nor the children of the working people, also with the guaranteed factory salary including thirteenth and fourteenth salaries, but the restaurateurs, the owners of the bathing establishments, the shopkeepers and the various merchants of the area. And if the managers of all these businesses could not have a certain round of work, at the same time they could not hire staff and create and give jobs, because none of them cashed in on the children of the proletarian people, who limited themselves to looking at the windows of certain shops or reading the menus of restaurants where a dinner for four people would cost half the monthly salary of a worker who is the son of the proletarian people. Ideology prevailed at the time, the proletarian people had the right to sun and sea in coastal areas that cannot and must not be stormed by the great masses, except ruin them. The consequence was that the economic damage was enormous. And so, in areas where the old Communist Party won elections with majorities greater than 60%, course was soon reversed. The cliffs were closed again and the mandatory steps eliminated. A quel point, the dirty rich people who produced work and wealth returned, while the proletarian people, to which no one has ever denied sea and sun, it was diverted to locations and beaches suitable for welcoming the great mass of people.

Today, in the areas of nearby Capalbio, all the richest hippies of the Left Democrats go on holiday, all spoiled and degenerate grandchildren of the old and glorious Communist Party. And them too, Poors, including migrants landed clandestinely on Lampedusa, they don't want them in the balls - to use courtly Frenchism - not even at a distance from the fences of their villas.

Poor does not equal good, there are poor people who are endowed with an out of the ordinary wickedness, which to watch out for, keep your distance and keep them away. How there are rich people who in absolute confidentiality do good to numerous families and entire charitable institutions that operate at the service of the various social hardships. Man is not good or bad on the basis of class or class to which he belongs, but according to one's own nature and human sensitivity.

Our country should focus on luxury tourism, because both the Italian cities of art and some of our coastal areas, they are very fragile and delicate environments and territories to conserve and maintain. And they cannot be stormed by masses of often barbaric hordes nor destroyed in the name of ideology, with peasant tourists who damage the monuments of Rome or who bathe in the monumental fountains.

Every now and then someone clamors that the Italian Church put up entrance tickets to visit several historic cathedrals and monumental churches. Well they did, long before we should have done it. In fact, there are numerous places of worship that are monuments of extraordinary beauty and equally extraordinary delicacy. Imposing a ticket, preferably also expensive, will avoid that in cities like Siena, Pisa, Venice … certain places are overrun by people who enter just to get there, not infrequently also to cause you serious and irreparable damage, as can be confirmed by the various Superintendencies of the fine arts which ran for cover several times with long, delicate and expensive restoration of artwork damaged by idiots who had climbed somewhere to get themselves, eg, witty photographs, to be sent to as many idiot friends scattered around the world.

Pure and simple economics of common sense, applied to a country like ours, where artistic and environmental riches abound that require extreme care and are as beautiful as they are fragile, as well as easy to damage by modern barbarian hordes. Italy is a delicate and fragile jewel that is not and will never be made for mass tourism, pace of ideologies on the proletarian people.

« So do not be afraid: you are worth much more than the sparrows"

Homiletics of the Fathers of The Island of Patmos

"THERE DO NOT BE AFRAID: YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN MANY SPARROWS»

… there is fear that blocks, which makes one lose the courage of proclaiming and bearing witness, the fear you feel of losing face, a privilege or not to be on page. And we become lazy and little by little we lose strength and we end up no longer recognizing Jesus, the teacher.

Every morning, just woke up, I proceed to pour a generous glass of puffed rice grains into a container placed on a tree in the garden. As soon as I get home I enjoy the show. Dozens and dozens of sparrows first fluttering around, in trees or hedges, they begin to glide, fighting or chasing each other, on the bowl of rice and eat some of it, they throw more around, or they take it away, probably to feed the newborns that hatch from the eggs at this time of year.

In the Gospel of this XII Sunday of ordinary time, right in the center of Jesus' short speech he talks about sparrows. He reassures the disciples: “You are worth more than many sparrows”. Here is the Gospel passage:

"During that time, Jesus said to his apostles: “Do not be afraid of men, for there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I tell you in the darkness you say in the light, and what you hear in your ears you announce from the terraces. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but they have no power to kill the soul; rather be afraid of him who has the power to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Two sparrows are perhaps not sold for a penny? Yet not even one of them will fall to the ground without the will of your Father. Even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid: you are worth more than many sparrows! Therefore anyone will recognize me before men, I will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; who will deny me before men, I too will deny him before my Father who is in heaven." [Mt 10, 26-33].

We are inside the tenth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, where it tells of the sending of the twelve apostles on a mission. But it is also a discourse that is addressed to disciples of every time and place, therefore also to us who hear a page proclaimed today which comes to us from afar and which was probably already affected by those difficulties which not only encountered the very first disciples of the Lord sent to the territories of Israel and only to those, but also the roughness of the path that subsequent generations of disciples found who were inspired by the tradition of Matthew's writing.

Jesus, right in last Sunday's Gospel, he had warned his disciples that the same fate as their master would befall them:

«A disciple is not greater than the master, nor is a servant greater than his lord; it is enough for the disciple to become like his master and for the servant like his lord. If they called the master of the house Beelzebul, much more those of his family!» (Mt 10,24-25).

That is to say, what Jesus experienced, it will also be experienced by his envoys, who will be called devils, in the service of the leader of the demons, Beelzebub, and they will be persecuted to the point of being killed by those who believe they are giving glory to God in this way (GV 16,2). For this reason in today's Gospel Jesus feels the need, not to sugarcoat the pill, but to cheer up the disciples and three times (vv. 26. 28.31) he invites them not to fear: "Do not be afraid!».

I would like to say the same thing to my sparrows that, if I make a sudden or involuntary movement, they run away scared. Fear is an early instinct thatimprinting has fixed in different species, in ours too. There is a good fear that allows us not to fall into danger and to be cautious. In the same speech Jesus had in fact said:

"There: I send you out like sheep among wolves; so be wise as serpents and harmless as doves ". (10, 16).

And then there is the fear that blocks, which makes one lose the courage of proclaiming and bearing witness, the fear you feel of losing face, a privilege or not to be on page. And we become lazy and little by little we lose strength and we end up no longer recognizing Jesus, the teacher.

Like Peter on the night of his passion: «Who will deny me before men, I too will deny him before my Father who is in heaven." (v. 33). But «Two sparrows are perhaps not sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father."¹.

I feel sorry for the translators of the Italian Episcopal Conference, but there is no "want" in Greek. And instead we need to give back, verbatim: «… without your Father». That is to say, not even a sparrow, falling to the ground, he is abandoned by the Father! Even more so the disciples and even Peter who is their head. In the same way, even the hair on our head (v. 30), that we lose every day without realizing it: they are all counted, all under the gaze of the Father. From such contemplation comes the confidence that dispels fear: God sees as a father sees us, who always looks at us with love and never abandons us, not even when we fall.

When we think we are alone as disciples, left at the mercy of the trials that life presents us or of adversaries who give no respite, Let's think back to the prophet Jeremiah from this Sunday's first reading: «I felt the slander of many. Terror all around... We will take our revenge" (Gives 20,10). Jeremiah lets go of a moment of anger for the situation that has arisen: "may I see your vengeance upon them" (v. 12). Who wouldn't understand it? But then the man of faith called from the mother's womb prevails: "Sing to the Lord, praise the Lord, because he freed the life of the poor" (v. 13). The psalmist of today's responsory echoes this:

«Let the poor see and rejoice; you who seek God, take courage, because the Lord listens to the miserable, he does not despise his own who are prisoners. May heaven and earth sing praise to him, the seas and everything that teems in them" (Shall 68).

Now tell me if there is a protagonist of Scripture to whom the Lord God has not given the encouragement that Jesus says in triple form to the disciples: do not be afraid and do not fear. Not even one, from Abraham to Joseph of Nazareth. Do you think the Virgin Mary didn't hear that?? She too: "Do not fear, Maria, because you have found favor with God" (LC 1,30). Then we can discuss until tomorrow morning about the difference between Mary's fear and that of her relative Zechariah, between that of Jeremiah or Saint Peter while Jesus was being questioned in the Sanhedrin. The important thing that today's Gospel reveals to us is this invitation to let go of fear, not to allow this primary emotion to take over, because of God's special protection, the Father that Jesus reveals to us, who does not abandon us like garbage², which is what the adversary par excellence does instead.

Because Jesus after sending his, including us today, invites you not to be afraid of anything or anyone? Because this is the time of revelation (v. 26) or as someone said "the time of the end"³ inaugurated by Jesus. The time of mission is a time of apocalypse, not in the catastrophic sense usually attributed to this term, but in the etymological sense of re-velation, of lifting the veil. The announcement of the Gospel, indeed, requires that what Jesus said in private be proclaimed in broad daylight, let what has been said in the ear be shouted from the housetops.

«Nothing is hidden from you (verb cover, calypto) which will not be re-veiled (verb disclose, apocalypto) nor secret (cryptic, crypto) which will not be known (verb know, Ginosko)» (v. 26).

The things hidden since the foundation of the world (Mt 13,35; Shall 78,2) they are revealed by Jesus and then by the disciples in history. E, hidden in the heart of this inexhaustible message, lies the announcement of God as Father, which is that "much more" as the Apostle Paul calls it in the second reading this Sunday (RM 5, 12), that is, the abundance of his saving grace, redeem and love.

Happy Sunday everyone!

What is a kiss? The apparent homophobia in the land of Cesena is not as serious as the crass historical ignorance of the mayor DEM who uses the term inappropriately “Middle Ages”

WHAT IS A KISS? THE APPARENT HOMOPHOBIA IN THE LAND OF CESENA IS NOT AS SERIOUS AS THE CROSS HISTORICAL IGNORANCE OF THE MAYOR DEM WHO USE THE TERM INCORRECTLY “MIDDLE AGES”

In the face of historical hoaxes such as those uttered by the Mayor of Cesena, the average listener of our century has very few weapons of defense. The rest, as Don Camillo said to Peppone: “If they believed in Carlo Marx, whatever dance you tell him will do!». And we're still here telling each other the lies that LGBT people, the Democrats of the Left and the various compagnucci bloggers they come to tell us, including perfect Catholics who flirt with LGBT circles and who would like to introduce the "rainbow trojan horse" into the Catholic Church

It's the news these days of a parish priest of the Diocese of Cesena-Sarsina who communicated to a young collaborator of his at Grest (Catholic Summer Group) the inappropriateness of continuing his role as educator of the parish summer center since on Instagram would appear in a photo that showed him in the act of kissing a boy.

Definitely the news it will have offended the sensibilities of more beautiful souls belonging to that group of perfect and democratic Christians who cannot remain silent, of those who are more good and merciful than Our Lord Jesus Christ himself and who tirelessly live to seek and affirm the well round Truth, whose iridescent heart could candidly borrow the poetics of Edmond Rostand that he says:

«And what is a kiss? A pink apostrophe between the words I love you, a secret told from his mouth».

A kiss, in conclusion, what is a kiss? Maybe nothing but in this situation the kiss is not the problem. Under the tip oficeberg there is much more than the kiss. And it is precisely this other thing that needs to be investigated and which is not convincing to me, for this I would like to briefly discuss the fact with our readers to try to give a transversal reading of the whole story which in my opinion raises many doubts and questions many consciences.

The first thing that doesn't convince me is that the young animator has not had the slightest hesitation to post on Instagram a photo in which he is portrayed kissing his boyfriend. And that's because? His homosexuality was known or this was just meant to be a provocative gesture? And if his homosexuality had in fact been known - which would have crossed not only the private and family aspect but also the social and therefore parish one -, why the surprise for a normal show of affection? Mind you, everyone is free to use i social as it sees fit, albeit within the limits prescribed by law, as well as expressing one's feelings towards another person. However, one would expect a different style in the use of gods from a Christian social as well as in the affective approach towards another person. And I say this by taking into account the normal contradictions and fragilities that constitute the struggle towards Christian perfection. Let's also admit that the boy didn't want to be a provocateur and thought it right to do so coming out instead of remaining in privacy and living his life in serenity. I wonder and I ask the Readers: this was the most appropriate thing to do, to post a photo on Instagram of a convict kiss which for obvious reasons would have been read or considered problematic? Since it is then a parish animator, of a person who, we hope, he followed a Christian path within an ecclesial community, this choice had no other alternative? I make a guess: Wouldn't it have been better for him to talk about it with his confessor or spiritual director and address the matter privately, in that internal forum that allows Christian conscience to grow and direct towards human and spiritual maturation? Today, many people assume that they are Christians without the help of any guidance, but in doing so, situations of embarrassment and confusion multiply, which are not the exclusive prerogative of homosexuals but of all men, because the root of this mentality does not lie in sexual orientation but in that lust which wounds our decision-making and makes us stubborn and often refractory to the spiritual docility which leads to an encounter with God.

That the young man then showed resentment and gave flat rate at Grest makes me think even more, just as his words in the Whatsapp chat are not clear to me:

"Good morning. I ask you personally to avoid any kind of incriminating or accusatory messages. This matter concerns my private life and must not affect the joy and happiness of the children in participating in the summer camp" (you see WHO).

I see myself as sceptical to believe that the boy was unaware that his choice would not lead to any reaction, both good and bad. I say this because it is not a discriminatory event against the homosexual world and gays but simply an event that affects all men in the world: every choice and position can be shared or not; endorsed or blamed.

After all, we know of cases in which - in front of the will of a boy to enter a seminary or convent - the parents, relatives or friends often delivered the teasing joke: "better dead than a priest or a friar". As far as we know, no one has ever been silent about clericophobia these people, on the contrary, they have often seen themselves strengthened in this teasing behavior, believing that becoming a priest or friar was really the greatest misfortune in this world. Faced with these assumptions, aspirants to a priestly life or one of special consecration have simply gone their own way, not caring about the judgment of others and pursuing their own intent, even when this would have led to a certain difficulty in managing family and friendship relationships.

You have no idea, we priests and friars, the insults that we sometimes hear thrown at us in the streets and public squares, if anything, even by teenage brats, when we cross them with the cassock of the secular clergy or with the habit of one's own religious order? Insults sometimes even very serious and defamatory. But we are not gay activists, because in that case lawsuits would be triggered and the powerful LGBT associations would also form a civil party in the process. Seriously insulting a priest or a friar on the street, on the other hand, seems to constitute a free and democratic expression of thought, the crime is triggered only if you make an ironic joke about the Gay Pride or on a tall transvestite 1.60 per 120 kg of weight that, ugly brother style of Lino Banfi, walks down the street in a platinum blonde wig, fishnet stockings and stiletto heels, perhaps just in spasmodic waiting for someone to shout "freak freak" at him, so that he can go cry of talk show in talk show against homotransphobia with all the LGBT activists screaming.

I consider the majority of homosexuals serene and intellectually free and devoid of any ideologization, do not worry in the least about what the Catholic Church thinks. They simply live the expression of their affectivity and of their being in a peaceful and reserved way, accepting the pros and cons of their own status, at the same time taking care to stay well away from the allegorical and blasphemous floats of the various Pride disseminated in the month of June of every single year.

If, on the other hand, we refer to homosexuals who have a faith and seek the Lord, the situation changes, above all they are called to love the Church and do not smear it with viperish insults, accusing ― even by means of social e blog - dad, the bishops and priests to be homophobic, as the custom of certain perfect Catholics who cannot keep silent. The Catholic homosexual is aware of the fact that it is necessary to carry on a journey of conversion - which begins in baptism and ends at the moment of death and is the same for all the disciples of Jesus who have certainly not been chosen among the best (cf.. Mt 9,36-10,8) ― which is made of prayer and spiritual accompaniment; of victories and falls; of temptation and grace; of torment and ecstasy. And how spiritual battles exist for the management and harmonization of one's genitals for a Catholic homosexual, so this is true for a Catholic heterosexual.

If, however, the paradigm of spiritual direction and accompaniment of homosexual people is embodied in the wretch - that is, devoid of grace - American Jesuit James Martin and not in the Magisterium of the Church and in Christ the Word of the Father, here we fall into the paradox of the Cesena affair whose results of an ideological colonization and lobbying are certainly not veiled, so much so that he can make the claim and the luxury of shouting scandal and becoming the injured party.

When I read about such piqued positions who cry foul in the face of alleged cases of homophobia, most of the time they seem comfortable positions to me. Often the same paladins gods Rights have little interest in homosexual people, if not on the basis of a functional use of them that tends towards the achievement of an objective, which requires a wise policy of symbiosis, so as to achieve victory and annihilate the imaginary enemy, so much to have - to put it with a Romagna proverb - the egg, the hen and the hot ass.

Thus we will find ourselves in ecclesial contexts full of LGBT activists and sympathizers who consider the Church a political majority to be opposed by democratically dismissing the things they don't like and going to occupy positions of power in order to be able to affirm omoeresia [on the subject I refer to the work of Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo: And Satan became triune and to my work and his From Prozan to Prozac]. But the Church, know this dear fellow Readers, it is not a democracy and absolutely does not need to rainbow suffragettes that go crazy on social media and on the videos of YouTube as perfect Catholics who cannot be silent, to which the epigraph written by Paolo Giovio on Pietro l'Aretino can be applied: «He spoke ill of everyone except Christ, apologizing by saying I don't know him".

It is worth remembering that there is a homosexual world, perhaps the most numerous, who manages to use reason and who knows how to recognize, with an uncommon sense of objectivity, the Church a welcome that very few places can boast, Houses of the People included. In fact, ask a gay man if in the seventies or eighties of the twentieth century he could even just set foot in a Casa del Popolo, when a certain left defended the traditional family with lots of party posters on display and stigmatized Pierpaolo Pasolini for his lifestyles resulting from the "typical pederasty of the upper middle class". In fact, this is what L'Unità wrote, official organ of the Italian Communist Party, in the edition of 29 October 1949:

«Let's take a cue from the facts that led to a serious disciplinary measure against the poet Pasolini to denounce once again the deleterious influences of certain ideological and philosophical currents of the various Gide, Sartre and equally praised poets and writers, who want to pose as progressives but who in reality gather the most harmful aspects of bourgeois degeneration».

While about André Gide, well-known French man of letters and homosexual, Palmiro Togliatti signing in 1950 a piece up Rebirth he wrote:

«To hear Gide, faced with the problem of relations between parties and classes, give everything as resolved by identifying the absence of opposition parties, in a classless society, with tyranny and related terrorism, I feel like inviting him to deal with pederasty, where is he a specialist, but leave these things, where he doesn't understand anything at all".

But let's go back to the young animator whom as Fathers we love, who has decided to express his freedom and his vision of affectivity together with the firm decision to pursue and defend it. For this he is worthy of our respect and we can only recognize his courage. But in the same way, the parish priest and the Diocese of Cesena Sarsina have the same freedom and the same right to decide to discipline their animators, trainers and catechists demanding a certain fidelity to the Church and to the magisterium regarding moral and faith questions.

In fact, it is not homosexual orientation who has been discriminated against here but the fact of living and publicly defending a dangerous LGBT activism within a context of the Catholic Church. Yup, because according to the Courier of Romagna (you see WHO) we learn of fractures within the parish following discontent brought forward by some parish activists (?!) to whom the magisterial thought of the Catholic Church on homosexuality is still not sufficiently clear. In that parish there is undoubtedly a basic educational emergency, a situation of confusion that in the future will have to be recovered and informed with a correct catechetical formation and with a charitable vigilance. Well done the parish priest who thought it best to discuss with the Diocese and ask for its support to reach a synthesis on the matter. At least for once there was a Bishop who knew how to exercise paternity by demonstrating that he kept the bar straight, at the same time demonstrating closeness to the young man for a situation that has become unfortunate since it was deliberately staged as a tabloid case. Behind it there is only the umpteenth attempt to affirm the LGBT ideology within the Church with the usual suspects who shot balls and chains on the obscurantist and retrograde priest, resorting to the by now worn commonplace of the Middle Ages: the Arcigay, the honorable Zan and the mayor of the Democrats of the Left of Cesena Enzo Lattucca.

From this whole thing, we reiterate it once again: the young man was not deprived of the possibility of organizing the Grest and of participating generously for the good of the little participants, he was only pointed out the inappropriateness of continuing as an animator and educator in the context of a summer oratory that is not sponsored by the Democratic Party, by Arcigay or the LGBT lobby, but by the Catholic Church which has the sacrosanct duty and right to consider what is right or wrong for anyone preparing to carry out an educational function which coincides with the proclamation of a creed of faith.

To conclude, i like to state that the apparent episode of homophobia in Cesena is nothing compared to the crass historical ignorance of its Primo Cittadino who uses a hackneyed argument borrowed from Black legend with the pretension of hurting the Catholic Church. You don't necessarily have to have the curriculum of studies by Franco Cardini or Alessandro Barbero to understand that what the Mayor of Cesena declared about the Middle Ages is clearly and profoundly false and intellectually unjust. In the Middle Ages to which the politician refers, the uncultured and illiterate people knew Dante Alighieri's rhymes by heart. A young merchant from the city of Assisi, he too came from the people and then rose to the rich merchant bourgeoisie, he composed the first poetic text in the Italian vernacular. The same people of the Middle Ages had mnemonic and speculative and reasoning skills that are completely unknown to the desolating masses of young and very young activists who follow the idiocies of Fedez, of Ferragni and the various influence, youtuber e TikToker and that the only verse committed to memory is Love is love. The people of the Middle Ages went willingly to listen for hours to preachers of the caliber of Anthony of Padua, Bernardino of Siena, Giovanni da Capestrano and Giacomo della Marca. That simple people but willing to admire and visually study Giotto's frescoes inside the ancient basilicas and which constituted the The Bible of the poor which not only educated to the faith but to social life, which exalted virtues and stigmatized error and vice. If there was today a minimal historical high school culture, it should be hoped that our populations affected by functional illiteracy and digital illiteracy can return to the Middle Ages as soon as possible, a long season that marked a great development of culture, of the arts and sciences, in addition to the recovery and conservation of all the classical philosophy and literature that has come down to us thanks to the men of the Middle Ages.

In front of historical hoaxes like those uttered by the Mayor of Cesena, the average listener of our century has very few weapons of defense. The rest, as Don Camillo said to Peppone:

“If they believed in Carlo Marx, whatever dance you tell him will do!».

And we're still here telling each other the lies that LGBT people, the Democrats of the Left and the various compagnucci bloggers they come to tell us, including perfect Catholics who flirt with LGBT circles and who would like to introduce the "rainbow trojan horse" into the Catholic Church (See. Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo, WHO).

Man receives life on loan for use, he is not the arbitrary owner of it and cannot dispose of it as he sees fit, nor by taking life, as in the case of abortion, nor by taking his own life, as in the case of euthanasia, even if today it is difficult to talk about the salvific value of human suffering, theme to which the Holy Pontiff John Paul II dedicated his own encyclical: saving Passion. Human life crosses the same subjective reality of man who does not give himself life, but who receives it as a gift. So it can't be him who decides to self-suppress himself. It is true that life is in the hands of man, but at the same time it remains a gift that goes far beyond his hands. Because of this, that of life, it is a sacred gift that can be disposed of up to a certain point and within certain limits.

Here is an academic example extreme and terrible that can make the idea: a large group of SS. is about to cross a bridge, once it has been crossed, he will make a massacre of civilians in that country, just as it was at Sant'Anna di Stazzema. In fact, they suspect that partisans are hidden in that country, whose generality and identity they are ignorant of, for this they decided to solve the root problem by killing all the inhabitants, without sparing the elderly, women and children. The only access road to that town is a tens of meters high viaduct built between the wall of a mountain and that of the other mountain. Members of the resistance undermined it, ready to blow it up if necessary. While the soldiers of the S.S. they are about to cross it a completely unaware mother is crossing it with her child by the hand. Request: the bridge must be blown up or not?

To say that the lives of the innocent they can never and under no circumstances be sacrificed, it is a categorical affirmation based on illogical and surreal emotions, especially when the "no at all costs to the sacrifice of human beings" is pronounced in countries where babies are aborted every day, after having decided that in that case, however, we are not dealing with innocent victims, because abortion is a real right, indeed more: "A Great Social Achievement".

About thirty years ago it happened in the areas of my Tuscany that an eccentric young man with thehobby to keep very poisonous snakes in your home, while cleaning one of their cages he was bitten. In Italy, where the only poisonous snakes present in our area are vipers, no drug center had an antidote, which could only be found in Switzerland at a pharmaceutical company specialized in storing very rare drugs. In the hospital they only managed to slow down the effect of the poison that entered the circulation. In the meantime, an F104 plane was sent off from the Grosseto Air Force center which reached Switzerland in half an hour where a company employee gave the pilot the antidote without even getting off the powerful aircraft., then back to basics, all in just over an hour. This case was followed by controversy when it became known how much it cost to start an F104 and above all that at the time, the cost of that antidote, fu pari a 15 million of the old lire, obviously paid for by the state, equivalent to what they might be today in approximately current monetary value 25.000/30.000 Euro.

Some cynics asked the question if it was the case to spend all the money that was spent to save a person who in violation of the laws which already at the time forbade the purchase, conserve and breed certain reptiles, he had gone looking for trouble like that. But they were just cynics, with the aggravating circumstance of inhumanity, because life must always be saved at all costs, for example not by blowing up a bridge in the middle of which is a mother with a child. Then, the hundreds of people who shortly after will be slaughtered by the SS. just passed that pass, in any case they will die happy together with their children, for saving two lives.

Since few days television and the international press they're about a group of three multi-millionaires, plus a quarter who is the son of one of them, who wanted to take away the whim of going down to the depth of 3.800 meters to reach the steamer Titanic sunk off Terranova in 1912 after hitting a iceberg of ice. Tragedy in which they died 1.527 people on 2.232 passenger, solo 705 of which survived.

It's about the whims of the rich? No, the real rich, those who have been such for generations, those who know the delicacy and volatility of money and how difficult it is to keep and increase it; the truly wealthy who owe their wealth to their own particular entrepreneurial or financial genius, they don't do these braggart things, they are typical deeds of the rich. Why only capricious riches, sure you can afford anything, they could pay each 250.000 U.S.. $ to descend to the depth of almost 4 kilometers where the wreck of the Titanic is located, which is a shrine, a cemetery, which as such should be respected. Those depths cannot be the destination of stunts pushed to the extreme aboard a mini-submarine similar to a supposed underwater one in which the patrons could not even stand up, not even kneel, therefore unable to move, but only sitting in the space of 5 meters long for 1.60 of height [cf.. WHO]. A terrible death in the darkest depths of the sea, occurred due to suffocation in a narrow space where it is good not even to think what could have happened in the moments of panic that occurred in a claustrophobic space while oxygen was missing and the four multimillionaires, with the driver of the vehicle, they died of suffocation. It details it a The Print Paul Narcisi, resuscitation specialist, not failing to add:

“This tragedy, while respecting the people involved, forced a mobilization in the relief efforts that did not even take place for i 600 shipwrecked from a few days ago".

As for the guy bitten by the pet snake, also in this case air and sea means were used, sophisticated technological tools, personal, specialists and so on. Fair Enough, to save human life one must try everything. Without forgetting, however, that the four, before boarding, after paying 250.000 $ each signed a contract with a precise release for the company that organized their eccentric stunt, in which it is specified that the undertaking could also have involved the possibility of dying, all specified three times in the text signed and signed by the four rich men.

Say they went looking for it, it is neither lack of pity nor respect towards these dead in a very tragic way. It is a reality, not of lack of mercy: it was they themselves who signed up and declared that they were aware that they could also have met their death, which is to say, black on white, than if that happened, it was because they themselves had gone looking for it, after having been notified to this effect and having also signed it in a contract.

It takes a lot of mercy, out of the question, because even snooty imbeciles deserve Christian and human mercy in any case, perhaps even more so than intelligent people, wise and prudent.

Why LGBT lobbyists won't let homosexuals speak? It would be as if the Franciscan Order denied its friars to speak about St. Francis of Assisi

WHY LGBT LOBBYISTS DON'T LET HOMOSEXUALS TALK? IT WOULD BE AS IF THE FRANCISCAN ORDER DENIED ITS FRIARS TO SPEAK ABOUT SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Every Gay Pride, which from today is no longer called that but only Pride, ends up being the subject of controversy, Maybe because certain parades are an ostentatious search for provocation, especially towards everything that is Catholic, and because the controversy is researched and studied [see also my previous article WHO].

It is obvious that the patronage has been withdrawn by the Lazio Region at this event, something done with a specific reason:

«[…] the institutional signature of the Lazio Region cannot, nor will it ever be able to, be used to support demonstrations aimed at promoting illegal behavior, with specific reference to the practice of the so-called rented womb" [cf.. WHO].

Faced with this motivation, It's of little use shouting “at the fascist government!” whatever the government. Perhaps the same thing would have happened even under a Left government: a public body cannot promote as a "claimed right" what is prohibited and condemned by law, i.e. the so-called “rented womb”, which is illegal in Italy. To be against the barbarity of the rented womb you don't need to be a centre-right militant at all, you don't even have to be Catholic, it would be enough to remember that the General Secretary of the Communist Party Marco Rizzo defined the rented uterus as «worthy of Doctor Mengele, something very close to Nazism" specifying that "desires cannot become rights" [cf.. WHO], declaring to this effect:

«The rented womb is a barbarism typical of globalized capitalist society. The wishes of couples or individuals are granted and they are exchanged for the primary rights of newborns and their mothers, forced by poverty to act as incubators" [cf.. WHO].

The question, however, is more complex: we are sure that homosexuals feel represented by certain objectively grotesque parades and practices that are almost irreverent towards Catholicism? [My previous article, WHO].

We, the Fathers, Editors of this magazine, not only are we individually in close friendships with various homosexuals, several of them prominent figures in the world of the arts, of culture and sciences, because there's more. We have published with our Edizioni L'Isola di Patmos a book by Francesco Mangiacapra, young man of rare intelligence, declared and ex homosexual escort gay, brilliant and honest analyst who at the time brought to light a group of priests frequenting certain circles who, superfluous to say, priests should never frequent. A priest also wrote the preface to this book: the undersigned.

Francesco Mangiacapra writes in his book which constitutes an authentic monument to intellectual honesty and which for this reason alone should be read:

«A homosexual who does not identify with the powerful LGBT Lobby ends up ostracized by lobbyists and receives applause from that audience mainstream so abhorred by them. Today the lead hood of the politically correct it weighs on a society indifferent to real violence, but ready to expose to the pillory, for a joke or a harmless satire, who dares to oppose the single thought. The lobbyists of the gay rainbow freedom they now practice the technique that characterized the communist and fascist dictatorships: “Hit one to educate a hundred”».

And here we are going to touch on another problem that Father Ivano Liguori and I summarized in the introduction to a book co-written in 2021, From Prozan to Prozac, dedicated to the late memory of the very homosexual and unforgettable Paolo Poli, my dear friend, of which we propose this passage again:

"We who are two priests and theologians have never pulled back - our publications show -, when the respect for the truth required direct public and severe criticisms of the ecclesial and ecclesiastical world. And if sometimes, for only telling the truth, we have paid the consequences, it was a more than acceptable tribute. We are indeed heralds and faithful servants of the truth, with all that that can entail. Now let's try to immerse ourselves in reality: have you ever heard in the various talk show television - which could not be such in the absence of gay quotas -, an LGBT representative who publicly and severely criticizes his world? It is possible that the LGBT world is made up only of great people and above all the lines? It is possible that the LGBT world is inhabited only by poor victims and by no perpetrators? It is possible that for an unworthy priest suffering from psychic disorders, guilty of molesting teenagers, the entire Catholic Church is exposed to the public pillory, while the same investigative journalists and television presenters would never dare - and do not dare out of fear - to go and check what happens with minors in search of money in certain gay circles? In the LGBT world, everything is fine, everything's perfect? The one that the Holy Doctor Augustine indicates as the Celestial Jerusalem, perhaps it has its own angelic natural home in certain gay circles? This is what makes certain ideologized and radicalized LGBT fringes surreal and not credible. And someone, to groups so folded into irrational emotions, he also intended to give a law to shut up and prosecute those who do not think like them? Asking certain questions does not constitute an incitement to hatred of gays, lesbians and transsexuals. It is simply a matter of considering them for what they are: human beings like everyone else, for better or for worse. But if they lobby and pretend to present themselves as people without a shadow of a blemish, or worse as a corporation of untouchables, in that case it will be appropriate not to give them certain laws and let them wallow in the pool of their dreamlike perfection, where everything is good and idyllic, because all the bad guys and the persecutors are only on the other hetero-side. We do not hesitate to highlight the defects of our visible Church and its clergy, always looking at man as such, to whom we have never asked for licenses of heterosexuality or homosexuality, accepting it and loving it for what it is, how Jesus Christ welcomed and loved him. Because we live in the world of reality, aware that faith is born of reason, not from the irrational emotions of a certain rainbow world ".

In our Catholic language this is called political intellectual honesty. And I say politics because in any case these are political battles and as such they are carried out by activists, to which we will never respond with blows of Catholic morality. Any political language is responded to with appropriate political language, because both to communicate and to legitimately oppose something, the appropriate language is used, it is not really the case to go and talk to certain activists about the foundations of morality according to the school of Sant'Alfonso Maria de' Liguori, worse than ever Free Gomorrhianus of San Pier Damiani.

We conclude with a gay icon, singer Donatella Rector, the one who happily tormented our teenage summers, now distant in time, with famous songs like The cobra is not a snake O Beautiful shining. Here is an excerpt from his interview [cf.. WHO] made by the dear and excellent Francesca Fagnani — and I affectionately say dear because she was the first journalist who in 2012 he put me in front of a camera for an interview on the program Public Service by Michele Santoro — :

«Gays like me, girls don't like me queers, while Raffaella Carrà and Patty Pravo are icons of vintage fagots […] For me, gays and women exist queers, there are gays who know they have balls and there are hysterics who talk and tear their hair out, they spread gossip... and I don't even want those on my doorstep" [cf.. WHO, WHO].

We Fathers of the Island of Patmos that we hang out with homosexuals and that we have always had excellent relationships with them, we can agree with the histrionic Donatella Rettore, famous gay icon, feeling a certain discomfort with her hysterical faggots, without being accused of "homophobia" for this reason?

Dear Readers of The Island of Patmos,

in this summer time let us try to take the Bible more and more and read it; especially the Gospels can become a road companion for hot and muggy days. Indeed, in the Gospel, Jesus walks with us, he offers us so much tenderness and affection and thus asks us to give freely what we have received from him. Jesus chooses tenderness because as the German writer Rudolf Leonard said «Tenderness is the secret language of the soul».

We see. In Today's Gospel let's read:

"During that time, Jesus, seeing the crowds, he felt sorry for it, because they were tired and exhausted like sheep that have no shepherd".

Jesus walks with the crowds and realizes that they feel lost and without a point of reference. The existential difficulties and the political disagreement between Jews and Romans must have brought them much suffering also from an emotional and moral point of view. Jesus decides to treat them with compassion, in Greek splanchne, which indicates the tenderness of the mother who welcomes her children with visceral love. So let's imagine a mother who welcomes her children who are crying and feeling desperate.

The same thing Jesus does with us today. In our existential solitudes he gives us his tenderness and compassion, makes us feel that despite the general instability, the many spiritual difficulties, material and economic we can find He is with us. Every time we communicate, he offers us a caress and an intense embrace, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

This caress is offered to us in a concrete way. In a certain sense it is an apostolic caress. Indeed, Jesus himself called the twelve apostles by name and set them up to continue his mission over the centuries. The twelve apostles then set up their successors, and therefore the bishops and with them Jesus wanted priests for a large harvest of people in need of God. For this that the bishop and the priest, despite their personal limitations, tend to give us the Eucharistic caress of the Lord. Their presence and response to this priestly vocation is important.

However, they are apostles, alongside but in a distinct way compared to the priests, religious and lay people as well. They too in the vocation to the consecrated life and in marriage, they undertake to bring the caress of Jesus to their neighbor in need. This is why Jesus tells everyone:

"You received, freely give ".

The way we all clergy believers, religious and laity we are sent by the Lord is the dimension of self-giving. Just like without any rights, we have received the gift of love and tenderness from the Lord, so we can bring it to everyone else. So when we meet our neighbor who doesn't feel loved by anyone, and indeed perhaps he feels abandoned and isolated from everyone, then in that moment we will be able to give him the gift of the Lord's tenderness and charity. That is, a love that is not dull and worthless, but which precisely communicates to those who feel desperate that God loves them and is doing something concrete for them.

We ask the Lord to enter ever more strongly into his Trinitarian heart to bring the whole world into God's embrace, and offer meaning and joy even to those abandoned and isolated from the culture of the world.

This famous biblical story tells us that being friends is definitely not a diminution or a subtraction from the relationship of faith, because it calls for condescension, complicity and waiting when, for instance, a friend is in trouble. It is not by chance, long after the story of Abraham in Genesis, one of the most beautiful expressions we find in Scripture regarding the relationship between God's messenger, Jesus, and who followed him was: "I called you friends".

It seems that the term friend cannot exist without its specific qualification. We have different types declined, in the various arts, which from time to time offer the image of a fragile friend, rediscovered or ingenious. We could talk about it endlessly. A friend can be true or false, always be there or disappear, you can trust him or her unconditionally or in the worst case scenario be betrayed by them.

The Bible which is literature formed over a very long period, as well as talking about the main protagonist, who is God, presents a diverse set of human situations. Not by chance the poet Byron he called it "the great code of art", expression later taken up by the critic N. Frye who made a book of it[1]. In this roundup of disparate humanity, the interest in friends could not be missing. This is how the code of the Bible was able to arouse symbols that have remained in everyone's imagination (Frye called them imagery), even of non-students of the biblical book.

The character of Judas is famous (c)he embodies the betrayed friendship: «Amico, that's why you're here" (Mt 26,50), these are the words that Jesus addresses to the traitor after receiving his kiss. Remaining with the Gospels, one cannot forget Jesus' friendship for the family of Bethany: March, Maria and Lazzaro. When he dies Jesus will say: «Lazarus, our friend, he fell asleep; but I'm going to wake him up" (GV 11,11). As well as the reputation of a friend of tax collectors and sinners which led Jesus to be disliked by the authorities.

There are many biblical expressions referring to friendship, especially in the wisdom books. Here are two mentions among many:

“A faithful friend is medicine that gives life:
those who fear the Lord will find him." (Sir 6, 16).

“A faithful friend is a safe haven:
who finds it, find a treasure" (Sir 6,14).

A saying that has become famous the one that reads «whoever finds a friend finds a treasure». But the first biblical character to be referred to as a friend, none other than God, it was Abraham. The prophet Isaiah called him that: "But you, Israel, my servant, you Jacob, I have chosen, descendant of Abraham, my friend" (Is 41,8). The book of Daniel echoes this: «Do not withdraw your mercy from us, for Abraham's sake, your friend, of Isaac, your servant, of Israel, your saint" (3,35) and the second book of Chronicles: “You didn't drive away, our God, the inhabitants of this land in front of your people Israel and you have not given it forever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?» (20,7). Until the second testament where we find in the letter of James: «And the Scripture was fulfilled which says: Abramo believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called a friend of God" (2,23).

And if the Author of the letter of James he insisted on Abraham's actions as qualifying his faith, on the other Paul of Tarsus reversed the medal, in Romans, putting Abraham's faith before his works and by this and by this alone was he justified.

Here we do not want to address the arduous and complex subject of justification and grace pertaining to theology. But we simply want to decline how the biblical story speaks to us of the relationship between God and Abraham. What kind of friendship it was? Abraham deserved this particular relationship? He always corresponded to you? It seems an interesting topic given that it has become the vestment of the gift of divine life to the man of faith and of the grace that saves. Without neglecting the fact that Abraham is considered the father of the three great monotheistic religions, even if some find it difficult to define Christianity as a monotheism.

Because the Bible prefers to narrate than to set forth theories, we will try to trace the stories of Abraham's events to understand this friendship relationship and to understand in the end that Abraham was not so distant from us, from our expectations and emotions, from our points of view which appear unshakeable and which are put to the test by divine requests and promises which are not immediately revealed.

There is an episode in the story of Abraham narrated in the book of Genesis (18, 25-32) which seems to highlight more than others, more than the same call, the special friendship relationship between him and God, and it is the story of the negotiation about the destruction of the city of Sodom. To God who had already decided the fate of the city, Abraham points out the possible presence of righteous people in it. And from ten to ten to go down he manages to snatch a piece of God's benevolence. This episode highlights a characteristic of the patriarch that recurs several times in the stories, or his indisputable ability to negotiate. It's a well, of territorial division, of earth for the grave of his wife Sara, of how to find a wife for Isaac his son or of God himself, as in the above case, Abraham is unbeatable.

A little less, a lot less, when it comes to having faith in the divine words and this seems incredible for all that is normally thought of him. But God doesn't seem to care. Just like true friends do.

Even rabbinic exegesis he looked favorably upon the Abrahamic ability to deal, when it comes to saving people. The teachers of the Torah, indeed, they have not accorded equal benevolence to another famous patriarch, Noah, who received the command to build an ark because of the impending flood. These, unlike Abraham, he did nothing to thwart the destructive purpose.[2] Noah was an obedient man who asked no questions, "walked with God" (Gen 6,9) but he did not establish any relationship with him, perhaps because of the end of everything that was to come. With Abraham who "walked ahead of God" (Gen 17, 1) it was required, instead an active relationship, patient and friendly.

And patience with Abraham must have a lot. A modern reader of the biblical text would be surprised to find some embarrassing features in the life of the patriarch. These act as a counterbalance to the obvious mediation skills already mentioned, to his being an expert in weapons and guerrilla warfare (Gen 14, 14-16), of men and alliances (Gen 17, 17-24) and capable entrepreneur of the ancient world (Gen 24, 34-35).

Yet Abraham's first ever words in the Bible, immediately after God's call, they speak a lie, letting Sarah pass, in the eyes of the Egyptian pharaoh, like a sister instead of a wife[3]. An episode that will be repeated later with another king (cap. 20). Despite the repeated divine promise that he will surely have offspring, will agree, further on, about Sarah's intention to have a child with the slave Hagar; but when the two women come into conflict he will drive her out into the desert, reluctantly, with only a loaf of bread and a skin of water. When with his son Isaac will go up to Mount Moriah, place of his sacrifice, he will load the wood on his son's shoulders. Which father would have done this knowing what fate he was going to meet?

But Abraham, rightly, he is remembered above all for his faith: “He believed the Lord, who credited it to him as justice" (Gen 15, 6). But this faith evidently had to grow and mature, passing through important evidence, in addition to the fact that it was a word and a divine promise that aroused it, remembered over and over again.

In the Book of Genesis (cf.. 12) God first spoke to Abraham. The expression used in Hebrew, psychoanalysts liked it a lot: Go (play play) “Go for you” or “Go towards you”[4]. A new word, personal, addressed to Abraham son of Terak, invited him to leave his father and go to a land to become a blessed nation. Set off, but as often happens, the enthusiasm was lost along the way. The journey was tiring, in stages, hostile people e, above all, what progeny could he have had if a son did not come? That is how, you want for the difficulties, you want for the advancing age, he satisfied. After all, the slave's son, Ishmael, it was already something. So at one point Abraham blurted out before God: «If at least Ishmael could live in front of you!» (Gen 17, 18). Until the umpteenth promise of a child of theirs, Abraham and Sarah burst out laughing. Abraham even doubled over with laughter (Gen 17, 17).

But here's the twist. Sarah did indeed bear a son to Abraham: Isaac, the promised. But which friend gives you such a gift: Isaac, from Hebrew Isaac literally “the laughing son, which elicits laughter, that you can make fun of and ridicule[5]? Which for this very reason became the cause of the removal of the other son, Ishmael, which had no flaws?

Abraham was speechless at the birth of his son, since the text contains only the words of Sarah, who spoke of laughter and laughter. Who is this son that his friend God has sent?? We must accept this gift? Because Isaac, among all the biblical patriarchs and Sui generis. He never had the role of the protagonist and immediately appeared devoid of his own personality. He couldn't even find his wife by himself and this one, Rebecca, when she finally saw him up close, fell off the camel. Not surprisingly, several commentators, both Jews and Christians, they pointed out that Isaac may not have been a perfect son, disabled, autistic son of an aging father[6]. Let's imagine Abraham's feelings if this was to be the fulfillment of the promise. How to accept all this?

It is at this point that the biblical narrative presents us with one of the most fascinating and dramatic episodes of all his literature. The story of the sacrifice or rather of the Akda (aqedàh, about the connection) of Isaac in chapter 22. An episode that has inspired artists and commentators from antiquity to the present day. It is not possible to account for it here, but we can propose an interpretation that is well linked with what has been said so far about the relationship between God and Abraham.

First of all it was a new beginning. Let's go back to the verse 2 the same "play play” (goes for you, towards you) the chapter 12. Again a going towards oneself. But this time the promise came true, unexpectedly. Where should Abraham go? The ascent to Mount Morìa, with only dialogue about a ram to find, it's heartbreaking. Despite the outcome in the end happy, the episode will retain its tragedy: in the silence that falls during the return home of the two, in the lack of exultation or joy, in the subsequent physical separation between the father and the son and in the death of Sara that a Midrash (midrash)[7] it follows from the fact that she came to know what was about to happen on the mountain.

So what had happened? That Abraham was called to accept God's promise, in the person of Isaac, imperfect son. Because of this, her faith was tested and she was strengthened. The friend had finally understood what had been asked of him from the beginning, even if unexpected and far from its prerogatives and psychological characteristics. But Abraham went towards him, to open up to a new self and to the you of the son finally dissolved and left free to go.

Someone, many centuries later he would say: "God chooses what is weak in the world" (1Color 1,27). This is probably what Abraham's faith had to dramatically understand: welcome the promise in the fragile person of Isaac. Only when he understands will he choose for Isaac a woman with whom to console himself for the death of his mother, he will bestow on him all his good, he will protect him from possible competitors and die "satiated with days" buried by his sons Isaac and Ishmael finally reunited (Gen 25,9).

The story of Abraham and God can be read in many ways. The Bible beyond the implications that refer to faith and that passing through St. Paul and James mentioned above have arrived up to today, the Law as a story of friendship. With all its tones and variations, since Abraham remains a man with his personality made up of limits and greatness. This famous biblical story tells us that being friends is definitely not a diminution or a subtraction from the relationship of faith, because it calls for condescension, complicity and waiting when, for instance, a friend is in trouble. It is not by chance, long after the story of Abraham in Genesis, one of the most beautiful expressions we find in Scripture regarding the relationship between God's messenger, Jesus, and who followed him was: "I called you friends" (GV 15, 15).

GREAT HOMILY BY THE METROPOLITAN ARCHBISHOP OF MILAN: «WHO WAS SILVIO BERLUSCONI? A MAN"

«Silvio Berlusconi was certainly a politician, he was certainly a businessman, he was certainly a character in the limelight of notoriety. We pastors in the care of souls get used to going up to the pulpits and preaching, we know that there are moments and particular situations in which it is not easy to give an appropriate homily, as in the case of the funeral of Silvio Berlusconi celebrated today in the Cathedral of Milan. Someone might think that the delicacy could be given by the complex personality of the deceased, a man who for several decades rode the national and international political scene. To follow with the presence of the highest state authorities, from the President of the Republic to the Prime Minister. Situations in which it is not allowed, I don't say a word, but not even a wrong sigh. However, this is not the difficulty, even if in more or less similar circumstances several bishops and priests have solved the problem by saying more or less everything without saying anything, thus avoiding any possible problems.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Milan, S. AND. Mons. Mario Delpini, instead he was able to give a truly grandiose homily that brought everyone back down to earth in this aria of beatification of the late Knight, whose figure is part of the history of Italy and for this reason will be the subject of in-depth studies by historians and geopolitical experts for decades and decades. The Ambrosian Archbishop focused on something else: about the man Silvio Berlusconi who was undoubtedly a successful businessman, a politician who presided over the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic for four terms, a histrionic character gifted with a rare and extraordinary sense of self-irony, so much so that he repeatedly declared: «Many are tired of making fun of me, forgetting that I fool myself and that no one can do it as well as me".

Before this complex and even controversial figure, the Ambrosian Archbishop did not hide behind the “say nothing”, but he said it all by building his entire speech on this rhetorical question: «What can we say about Silvio Berlusconi?». Giving the answer right away: "It was a man". And the Ambrosian Archbishop spoke of the man with a Christian poetics that can be applied both to a celebrity like Silvio Berlusconi, or to the last of the elderly who died forgotten in a geriatric ward: a man.

Full text of the homily of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Milan

Live

Live. Live and love life. Live and desire a full life. To live and wish that life was good, beautiful for yourself and for loved ones. Living and understanding life as an opportunity to put the talents received to good use. Living and accepting the challenges of life. Living and going through difficult moments in life. Live and resist and don't let defeats bring you down and believe that there is always a hope of victory, of ransom, of life. To live and desire a life that never ends and have courage and trust and believe that there is always a way out even from the darkest valley. Live and not shirk the challenges, to contrasts, to insults, to criticism, and keep smiling, to challenge, to counter, to laugh at insults. To live and feel the forces run out, live and suffer the decline and keep smiling, to try, to try a way to live again. That's what can be said about a man: a desire for life, which finds its judgment and fulfillment in God.

To love and be loved

Loving and wanting to be loved. Loving and looking for love, like a promise of life, like a complicated story, like a compromised fidelity. Desiring to be loved and fearing that love can only be a concession, a condescension, a stormy and precarious passion. To love and to want to be loved forever and to experience the disappointments of love and to hope that there might be a way to a higher love, harder, bigger. Loving and walking the paths of dedication. To love and to hope. Loving and trusting. Love and surrender. This is what can be said of man: a desire for love, which finds its judgment and fulfillment in God.

To be happy

Be happy and love the holidays. Enjoy the beauty of life. Being happy without too many thoughts and without too many anxieties. To be happy with lifelong friends. Be happy with companies that give satisfaction. Being happy and wanting others to be happy too. Being happy with yourself and being surprised that others are not happy. Be happy with good things, some beautiful moments, of the applause of the people, praise from supporters. Enjoy the company. Be happy with the smallest things that make you smile, of the nice gesture, of the rewarding result. Being happy and experiencing that joy is precarious. Being happy and feeling the insinuation of a dark threat that covers the things that make you happy with greyness. Being happy and feeling lost in the face of the irremediable exhaustion of joy. This is what can be said of man: a desire for joy, which finds its judgment and fulfillment in God

I'm looking for the man

When a man is a businessman, then try to do business. It therefore has customers and competitors. It has moments of success and moments of failure. He ventures into reckless enterprises. Look at the numbers not the criteria. He has to do business. He cannot trust others too much and knows that others don't trust him too much. He is a businessman and must do business. When a man is a politician, then try to win. It has supporters and opponents. There are those who exalt it and those who cannot bear it. A politician is always a partisan. When a man is a character, then it is always on stage. It has admirers and detractors. It has those who applaud it and those who hate it. Silvio Berlusconi was certainly a politician, he was certainly a businessman, he was certainly a character in the limelight of notoriety. But in this moment of leave and prayer, what can we say about Silvio Berlusconi? It was a man: a desire for life, a desire for love, a desire for joy. And now we celebrate the mystery of fulfillment. Here's what I can say about Silvio Berlusconi. He is a man and now he meets God.

Dear Readers,

“Do you not know that those who perform sacred service eat what is offered in the temple?

Strana logica, you don't think so?

Silvio Berlusconi has died, man loved and hated, but an undoubted piece of the homeland history of Italy

Notizie brevi

È MORTO SILVIO BERLUSCONI, MAN LOVED AND HATED, MA INDUBBIO PEZZO DELLA STORIA PATRIA D’ITALIA

Al di là delle posizioni politiche e delle convinzioni personali di ciascuno, the merit of courage and enterprise must be recognized to President Silvio Berlusconi, il merito di aver lavorato intensamente, possiamo dire fino all’ultimo, nella creazione della propria azienda e nell’ideazione di un progetto politico che ha saputo intercettare l’interesse e l’apprezzamento di milioni di italiani.

Notizie brevi

.
