Silvio Berlusconi died this morning at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan where he was hospitalized again last Friday 9 June, after a previous hospitalization due to pneumonia and myelomonocytic leukemia. The coffin was transported from the hospital to the villa in Arcore at 3:00 pm 12. Tomorrow the funeral chapel will be set up at the Mediaset headquarters in the studio 20 of Cologno Monzese. The funeral will take place on Wednesday in the Cathedral of Milan.

Regardless of political positions and each person's personal beliefs, the merit of courage and enterprise must be recognized to President Silvio Berlusconi, the merit of having worked intensely, we can say until the end, in the creation of his own company and in the creation of a political project that was able to intercept the interest and appreciation of millions of Italians.

His “descent into the field”, by borrowing one of his own expressions, in an Italy that was experiencing a profound political crisis linked to the effects of Tangentopoli and of Mafia bombs, with the consequent crisis of the three parties which, until then, they had led the political scene, had given new determination to the group of moderates who had been disappointed by the events of those years.

I believe that one of the great merits of President Berlusconi was that of never stooping to accusations and controversies against political opponents, to have always maintained a polite and respectful tone and to have contributed to making Italy one of the most important economic and political players at European and global level. We unite, so, to the prayer of suffrage for him and in closeness to his family.
