Santa Teresa of Calcutta

The theme of the Day of the Sick XXVIIª of this year It is focused on the gratuity and the logic of the gift, following the evangelical reference of St. Matthew's Gospel [cf. 10, 8]. In his greeting, the Holy Father underlines how the gift of life implies the recognition of gratuitousness and the same care and protection of human life over time the disease can only play in the all-encompassing donation of person in the likeness of the Good Samaritan [Official text, WHO]. The Pontiff's suggestion allows us to broaden the discourse through some very important ideas.

.

.

I

THE SUPREMACY OF GOD OF LIFE

.

Santa Teresa of Calcutta

First of all, recognize life as a gift It means recognizing the real giver who is God. St. James, in his letter, He tells us that "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father" [cf. GC 1,17], This first reference shows well how God, as real father, it is also true author of the gift of life. Indeed, the creative act of God, It is intimately tied to its authorship and that measure can not be understood without this category. The God of Jesus Christ does not resemble at all the cold Demiurge by Plato in Timeo; it's not even the creator of the universe of the Gnostic cults or detached largest watchmaker so dear to the Enlightenment. The creative act of God is a father's act and he creates communicating himself, his paternity [cf. At 17,28].

.

From these early consideration, it is easy to say how life implies, to be generated, a father and mother figure - although today this evidence is going through a deep crisis -. Scripture, very wisely, teaches that God becomes knowable to man and as a father and as a mother [cf. Ef 3,14; Is 49,14-15].

.

His paternal primacy of God of all life, challenges the man to become the guardian [cf. GN 2,15; 4,9] and to protect it in front of the scrap culture, of violence and indifference that is the result of contemporary individualism and social fragmentation.

.

Santa Teresa of Calcutta

The dialogue that the Holy Father points out be necessary as a presupposition of the gift, It must not be reduced only to the horizontal dimension of fraternity among men, but first he must get to the encounter with God verticalism. It is therefore necessary to lift his head to the Lord in order to be sure to see the man for what is, and so lead them to salvation.

.

The mystery It is just an example of how the divine vertical relationship humbles himself to reach the horizontality of the human nature in need of healing and resurrection [cf. Fil 2,7]. So the dialogue is fruitful, only if we accept the challenge of dialogue with God and the acceptance of God's Word made flesh, which reveals the ultimate paternity of God the giver of life in abundance [CF Jn. 10,10]. Without dialogue with the Lord, the comparison between men threatens to stop utopia, political ideology, demagogy, the utilitarian logic and the market, the business strategy, depersonalizing the new ethical doctrines; and today, unfortunately, the scope of health pays the price for this type of "calm" and "fraternal relation".

.

(II)

THE CHURCH, WOMB OF DIALOGUE AND CARE

.

Santa Teresa of Calcutta

It is in the Church which implements the recognition of that brotherhood that there is in being granted sons through the Son. If Christ had not done in solidarity with the man up to the total gift of self, the human condition would have been characterized by many lost and fragmented individuality [cf. MC 6,34]. It is in the Church that the Holy Spirit - the Lord, the giver of life - educates the children of God to unity and mutual assistance [cf At 4,32] and the ability to participate in the gift of life as a rich relationship with God, and how to cooperate with his paternity. It is still in the Church that we find the mother's womb that in the liturgical baptismal font where we taste a new brotherhood that shines the dignity of the children beloved by the Father [cf. MC 1,11].

.

The church, before the world, thus becomes the banner of primary and merciful love that becomes concrete only in obedience to the command of the Son of God and our brother Jesus Christ: "I was given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And here, I am with you always;, until the end of the world " [Mt 28,18-20].

.

The mandate of Christ, at the end of the first Gospel, far from propaganda, proselytism, It ensures a continuous fraternal assistance to the Church, It is a gift of grace that the Christian has to be rescued and healed by learning obedience to the will of God in Mary - Salvation of the sick - he has his shining example and Safe.

"Do not be troubled heart" [GV 14,1]. From proclamations on “Church outgoing” the poster proclaims the faith of Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller

- the illustrious guests of the island of Patmos -

"ARE DISTURBED YOUR HEART" [Teacher 14,1]. Proclamations ON “CHURCH IN OUTPUT” THE POSTER OF PROCLAMATION OF FAITH OF CARDINAL GERHARD LUDWIG MULLER

.

Many now wonder why the Church still exists if the bishops themselves prefer to act as a political rather than as teachers of the faith to proclaim the Gospel. The look is not to dwell on side issues, but it is more than ever necessary for the Church to assume its own responsibility. Every human being has an immortal soul, that his death separates from the body, But the hope of the resurrection of the dead. Death ultimately makes man's decision for or against God. Everyone has to deal with the personal judgment immediately after death.

… the distant future or very close?

More than a "Church in output", at times our Holy Mother seems like a "Church in liquidation" at the end of the season.

.

The Fathers de The Island of Patmos, sharing the highest consideration that all have towards the Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, They were primarily affected by an expression which for them is a lament traded for some time and with increasing frequency among members who carry the sacred priesthood, fulfillment of which they have repeatedly regretted exchanging precisely the phrase that stands out in the first lines of the text written by the former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith: "Today, many Christians no longer know even the basics of the faith".

.

Those who the so-called "field hospital Church" live there, often carrying emergency services to the emergency room where they arrived all the different cases and often more severe, They must face each other every day with a growing number of faithful who no longer know the fundamentals of the Catholic faith, who have no right perception of the sacraments of grace, who for years they do not confess and who can not confess, who do not know the prayers. But most of all, Every day, You are faced with the faithful in terribly high number speak and live the worst language of this world with total ease. abortion: "Well, a girl of sixteen who has a hiccup, You may perhaps become a mother at that age?». Life and health: "Why not give a gentle and dignified death to a person who suffers from an incurable disease, It serves perhaps something to make her suffer needlessly?». affective Life: "We were the parents, the first to recommend to our children, before getting married, going to live with for a few years, sperimentassero so if they really go well together, or maybe the marriage must be a leap in the dark?».

.

These, as many of the faithful who reason well on the different moral and spiritual aspects, are people who generally do not confess, because first of all say they have no sins to confess, But they go to receive Holy Communion, without the knowledge and clear perception of what is really and truly the Most Holy Eucharist.

.

Only these few introductory words They are sufficient to clarify what the Fathers de The Island of Patmos have welcomed and much appreciated this essay containing the words which have long you are repeating each other with great sorrow and regret: Today you must start at one side with the missions for a new evangelization of our populations, the other with the fundamentals of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

il Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller

Faced with an increasingly widespread confusion in teaching of faith, many bishops, priests, religious and laity of the Catholic Church invited me to give public witness to the truth of revelation. It is the responsibility of its pastors to lead men entrusted to them the way of salvation, and this can only happen if such pathway is known and if their first pass through it. About he warned the Apostle:

.

"In fact, I sent you, first of all, what I also received " (1 Color 15,3).

.

Today many Christians no longer know even the basics of the faith, with a growing danger of not finding the path that leads to eternal life. However, proper task of the Church is to lead people to Jesus Christ, light of the nations [see LG 1]. In this situation, one wonders how to find the right orientation. According to John Paul II, The Catechism of the Catholic Church is "a sure norm for teaching the faith" [A deposit of faith IV]. It was written for the purpose of strengthening our brothers and sisters in faith, Mass faith severely tested by the "dictatorship of relativism".

.

I

Triune God, REVEALED IN JESUS CHRIST

.

The epitome of faith of all Christians It lies in the confession of the Holy Trinity. We have become disciples of Jesus, children and friends of God, through baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The difference of the three divine persons in the unit [254] It marks a fundamental difference in their faith in God and in the image of man over other religions. Recognized Jesus Christ, the ghosts disappear. He is true God and true man, born of the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit. The Word made flesh, the Son of God is the only Savior of the world [679] and the only mediator between God and men [846]. Because of this, the first letter of John refers to one who denies his divinity as the antichrist [1 GV 2, 22], since Jesus Christ, Son of God, eternity is a unique being with God, his father [663]. It is with clear determination to addressing the reappearance of ancient heresies that in Jesus Christ saw only a good person, a brother and a friend, a prophet and an example of moral life. He is first of all the Word that was with God and is God, Son of the Father, who took our human nature to redeem us and who is to judge the living and the dead. Him alone we worship in unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit as the one true God [691].

.

(II)

THE CHURCH

.

Jesus Christ founded the Church as a visible sign and instrument of salvation, which subsists in the Catholic Church [816]. He gave to His Church, who "it was born from the pierced heart of Christ who died on the cross"[766], a sacramental structure that will remain until the Kingdom is fully achieved [765]. Christ, chief, and believers as members of the body have a mystical person [795], for this reason the church is holy, since Christ, one mediator, It has established on earth as a visible organization and continually sustains [771]. Through it the redemptive work of Christ becomes present in time and space with the celebration of the Blessed Sacrament, especially in the Eucharistic Sacrifice, The holy Mass [1330]. The Church transmits with the authority of Christ's divine revelation, 'Which extends to all the elements of doctrine, including morals, without which the saving truths of the faith can not be preserved, explained, or observed ' [2035].

.

III

ORDER SACRAMENTAL

.

The Church is in Jesus Christ, the universal sacrament of salvation [776]. It does not reflect itself but the light of Christ, shining on his face, and this can only happen when the reference point is not the opinion of the majority nor the spirit of the times, but rather the Truth revealed in Jesus Christ, who entrusted to the Catholic Church the fullness of grace and truth [819]: He himself is present in the sacraments of the Church.

.

The Church is not an association created by man, whose structure can be changed by its members at will: it is of divine origin. "Christ is himself the source of ministry in the Church. He instituted, It gave her authority and mission, orientation and goal " [874]. Even the Apostle's admonition is valid now that cursed is everyone who proclaim another gospel, "Even ourselves, or an angel from heaven " [Gal 1,8]. The mediation of the faith is inextricably linked to human credibility of its announcers: they, in some cases, They have abandoned those who had been entrusted to them, turbandoli and severely damaging their faith. For them it realizes the word of Scripture: "Do not endure sound doctrine, ma, to hear something, It will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own whims " [2 Tim 4,3-4].

.

The task of the Magisterium of the Church with regard to the people of God is that of "]safeguard it from deviations and failures "so that it can" profess no mistake the true faith " [890]. This is especially true of the seven sacraments. The Holy Eucharist is "the source and summit of all Christian life" [1324]. The Eucharistic Sacrifice, in which Christ draws us into his sacrifice on the cross, It is aimed at the most intimate union with Him [1382]. For this reason the Holy Scripture warns about conditions for receiving Holy Communion: "Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, It shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord " [1Color 11, 27], So "anyone conscious of a grave sin, must receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before entering Communion " [1385]. From the internal logic of the sacrament it is understood that the divorced and remarried civilly, whose sacramental marriage before God is still valid, as well as all those Christians who are not in full communion with the Catholic faith and also all those who are not properly prepared, do not receive the Holy Eucharist fruitfully [1457], because in this way it does not lead them to salvation. Put it in evidence it corresponds to a work of spiritual mercy.

.

The recognition of sins in the holy confession at least once a year is one of the precepts of the Church [2042]. When believers do not confess their sins more receiving absolution, it makes vain the salvation brought by Christ, In fact, he became man to redeem us from our sins. The power of forgiveness, that the Risen Christ gave the Apostles and their successors in the Episcopate and in the Priesthood, take away grave and venial sins committed after Baptism. The current practice of confession shows that the conscience of believers is not sufficiently formed today. The mercy of God is given to us, in order to fulfill his commandments to conformaci to his holy will and not to avoid the call to conversion [1458].

.

"It is the priest who continues the work of redemption on earth" [1589]. The order, which gives the priest a "sacred power" [1592], is irreplaceable because through it Jesus becomes sacramentally present in his saving action. The priests voluntarily choose celibacy as a "sign of such a life" [1579]. It is the gift of himself to the service of Christ and His coming Kingdom. In order to validly conferring ordination in the three degrees of this sacrament, The Church recognizes herself as bound to the choice made by the Lord himself, "For this reason the ordination of women is not possible" [1577]. In this respect, talk about a discrimination against women clearly demonstrates a misunderstanding of this sacrament, it does not affect an earthly power but the representation of Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church.

.

IV

THE MORAL LAW

.

Faith and life are inseparable, because faith without works carried out in the Lord died [1815]. The moral law is the work of divine wisdom and leads man to the promised beatitude [1950]. As a result, the "divine and natural law shows man the way forward to do good and attain his end" [1955]. Its observance is necessary for all people of good will to attain eternal salvation. In fact, he who dies in mortal sin without repentance will remain forever separated from God [1033]. This has practical consequences in the lives of Christians, between which it is appropriate to recall those most frequently neglected today: [cf. 2270-2283; 2350-2381]. The moral law is not a burden, but part of that liberating truth [cf. Jn 8,32] through which the Christian along the way of salvation and should not be relativised.

.

V

ETERNAL LIFE

.

Many now wonder why the Church still exists if the bishops themselves prefer to act as a political rather than as teachers of the faith to proclaim the Gospel. The look is not to dwell on side issues, but it is more than ever necessary for the Church to assume its own responsibility. Every human being has an immortal soul, that his death separates from the body, But the hope of the resurrection of the dead [366]. Death ultimately makes man's decision for or against God. Everyone has to deal with the personal judgment immediately after death [1021]: or you will still require a purification, or the man will go directly to the heavenly bliss and will be allowed to see God face to face. But there is also the terrible possibility that a person, until the end, remains in contradiction with God: finally rejecting His love, it "shall immediately damned forever" [1022]. "It gave, who created us without us, He did not choose to save us without us' [1847]. The eternity of the punishment of hell is a terrible reality, which - according to the testimony of Holy Scripture - concerns all those who "die in a state of mortal sin" [1035]. The Christian crosses the narrow gate, "Because the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter " [Mt 7,13].

.

To keep silent about these and other truths of faith, or teach otherwise It is the worst deception against which the Catechism admonishes vigorously. This is the ultimate test of the Church, or 'a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems, the price of apostasy of the truth " [675]. It is the Antichrist's deception, that is, "with all the seductions of iniquity, to the detriment of those who perish because they received not the love of the truth and be saved " [2Ts 2,10].

.

APPEAL

.

As workers in the vineyard of the Lord, we all have a fundamental responsibility to remember these truths holding on to what we have received the same. We want to give courage to walk the path of Jesus Christ with determination, so as to obtain eternal life by following His commandments [2075].

.

We ask the Lord to let us know how great is the gift of the Catholic faith, through which opens the door to eternal life. "For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels " [MC 8,38]. Therefore we are committed to strengthening the faith confessing the truth that is Jesus Christ himself.

.

The warning that Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ, by his collaborator and successor Timothy is addressed in particular to us, bishops and priests. He wrote:

.

«I adjure you before God and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: proclaims the Word, insist upon and out of season, do warn, reproaches, exhorts with all magnanimity and teaching. The day will come, indeed, when they will not endure sound doctrine;, ma, to hear something, men's masters according to surround their whims, refusing to listen to the truth to get lost behind the Fables. But you shall carefully, endure the sufferings, do your work of Gospel announcer, fulfill your ministry " [2 TM 4,1-5].

.

may Mary, Mother of God, implorarci the grace to hold fast to the confession of the truth of Jesus Christ without wavering. United in faith and prayer,

To become real fishers of men, first of all you have to be real men

L'Angolo di Girolamo Savonarola: Catholic homiletics in lean times

TO BECOME THE REAL FISHERS OF MEN, MUST BE THE FIRST REAL MEN

.

Throw networks means getting away from the shore and take in the immensity. In order to draw men, first of all we must be real men, legitimate children of a God who became true man in all respects and by whom we freely and lovingly let ourselves be caught, to thus become true fishers of men.

.

.

Immensity, Roman work of painter Anna Boschini [Vitarte, WHO]

The page of the Lucan Gospel offered by this 5th Sunday of ordinary time [text of the liturgy of the word, WHO], first of all it reminds us of the mystery of an inseparable reality: the Jesus of history, real man, and the Christ of faith, true God, expression of the mystery of the nature of the Redeemer who is one in his person and one in the Trinity, because every action of encounter between the true God and the true man with humanity, it is an action of grace of the Trinity in our history, in our present being and in our future becoming, single and collective.

.

The man Jesus also teaches us the art of preaching, which is the ability to communicate in order to seek and live true communion. The historical Jesus demonstrates this, able to discuss already as a teenager with the doctors of the Temple [cf. LC 2, 41-50] who were amazed and wondered where he got this wisdom. Approached Jesus that with simple words, at times disarming - within which, however, the pillars of our faith are contained - he speaks and refers to the children and the simple who listen to him, who understand him and above all who follow him [cf. MC 10, 13-14; Mt 18, 3-4; Mt 18,6].

.

If whoever preaches the Gospel does not sow and does not reap, if he does not cast the empty nets to throw them on the boat full, things are in these terms: or has landed in a city of totally dry hearts from which it is good to proceed further by shaking the dust from one's sandals,[3] or he is a misunderstood prophet destined for more or less white martyrdom, or he's a bad preacher who doesn't practice what he preaches.

.

The historical Jesus, Jew among the Jews, that in his perfect human nature he was the son of an ancient culture - the Jewish one - made up of symbols and images; in a Judea that at the time had also assimilated the wealth of Greek and then Roman symbols and images, to make his preaching effective he addresses the people speaking in parables. And as we know the parable - that is, the story - is a symbol, beyond which there is a human message, morale, ethical and spiritual.

.

But beware of a pitfall that is always lurking: symbolic is language, not the God incarnate in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jesus is a human and divine reality narrated through the Gospels which are also historical sources, put together by direct or immediately directed eyewitnesses. The divine mystery of the incarnate Christ of faith is contained in the historicity of Jesus who speaks in parables or allegories, lived, dead and risen.

.

Jesus walking over the waters of the Sea of Galilee [cf. MC 6, 45-52; Mt 14,22-32], who performs the miracle of wine at Cana [cf. GV 2,1-11] who multiplies the loaves and fishes [cf. Mt 15,29-37], who heals the sick and who raises Lazarus [cf. GV 11, 35-44]; but especially, Jesus who on the third day rises from the dead, it is not a set of symbols and allegories to be interpreted with the criteria of modern theology, because all of this is historical and real. And only in the face of this real historicity, we can then proceed with spiritual criteria and with theological readings, not vice versa. In fact, if Jesus existed only in the past or instead he also exists in the present, this all depends on his resurrection [cf. Antonio Maria Sicari, Travel In the Gospel, Jaca Boock, pag 270].

.

In today's Gospel proclamation an original story was not told but a real fact, beyond which there is the symbol. It is not a play on words but a correct use of words in the delicate vineyard of the mystery of faith. Through the earthly life of Jesus the parable is born from his concrete and palpitating human reality, or the metaphor, which is an effective communication tool. Thinking instead of from the metaphor, or whatever you want from the fairy tale, the tender fairytale idea of a Jesus is born to be interpreted within purely spiritual and theological categories, it is a thought which, however widespread, remains dangerously non-Christian, definitely not Catholic.

.

That day Jesus actually got into Simon's boat, inviting him and the other fishermen to put out to sea and cast their nets, and fulfilling his request, Simon really replied that they had tried in vain to fish all night without catching anything, finally saying: "At your word I will cast the nets", thus making a free act of faith.

.

What is the spiritual challenge of this parable inserted into a real fact? First of all, Jesus invites Simon to leave the shore to go out to sea, moving away from that shore strewn with the shells of our limits, of our obvious lack of charity. Throw networks means getting away from the shore and take in the immensity, finally to bring to the surface what has been enclosed in each of us since the dawn of time, which is being created in the image and likeness of God: you will be holy because I - the Lord your God - am holy [cf. The Pt 1,13-21; Lv 19,2; Is 11, 45]. And when we just seemed totally lost, God bursts again into the history of man in a real and physical way through the mystery of his incarnation; and through Jesus it is God himself who comes in person to rescue us, it is enough that through an act of free faith one accepts to go out to sea to cast the nets, to be caught by his grace and to be caught by his grace.

.

It is the miracle of fishing: abandoned the shore with Jesus, cast the nets and fishing deeply, those men made their true image and likeness with the Eternal Creator re-emerge by re-establishing their communion with God and shortly after bringing the communion of God into the world.

.

Faced with the miracle of fish, which is a miracle of faith and abandonment to God, Simon returns to having first of all the perception of good and evil, so much so as to tell Jesus: "Get away from me because I am a sinner". Faced with that awareness, Jesus fills Simon with grace and implicit forgiveness by answering him: "From now on you will be a fisher of men". That statement in itself implies: because you have had the goodness to follow my word and to leave the shore, to get offshore to fish out yourself e, with yourself, recover your Lord and Creator, so that I could perform the great miracle of faith on you.

.

In today's Church, what is often lacking are not men to fish - who often would like to let themselves be caught, or who sometimes ask, they beg to be caught - perhaps what they lack are good fishermen. What then Our Lord Jesus Christ, beginning, center and ultimate end of our entire humanism, he in whom all things are recapitulated, those in heaven and on Earth, the visible ones and the invisible ones, head of the mystical body which is the Church ...[I Ef, prologue] may he always make us wise and holy fishers of men, with his grace and with the comfort and prayer of the good People of God. Never forgetting that in order to fish for men, first of all we must be real men, legitimate children of a God who became true man in all respects and by whom we freely and lovingly let ourselves be caught, to thus become true fishers of men.

The epic tradition, which it is not aesthetic or ideology, but living force with which the Church makes us participants in the whole world the message of Christ

the personal blog by Father Gabriele

The epic OF TRADITION, THAT IS NOT AESTHETIC NEITHER IDEOLOGY, STRONG BUT ALIVE WITH WHICH THE PARTICIPANT CHURCH MAKES THE WORLD OF CHRIST'S MESSAGE

.

.

We are left with an important responsibility; no we distort the sense of Tradition: it can neither destroy nor ideologically equally as ideologically waving flag. We Catholics, children of the children of the Church and Tradition, servants of Jesus Christ. This is what I have always believed, loved and defended the Tradition.

The Conversion of St. Paul, Caravaggio, collection Odescalchi

If we talk about the tradition, or what it really is in the Christian lexicon, We have to start from the Apostolic Letters Pauline:

.

Dear, I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you: the Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, He took bread, gave thanks, he broke it and said,: “This is my body, that's for you; Do this in memory of me". In the same way, after dinner, also the cup, saying: "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, every time you drink it, in memory of me ". For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes [The Cor 11, 23 – 26].

.

What St. Paul, It is what the compositional and expressive plan might call "epic". And the epic - to remember the true etymological sense of the word -, It is the story of "fairy tales" or "fantasies", but it is a higher type of expression generally, poetic or literary, that tells a real story.

.

the fall of St. Paul on the road to Damascus, Caravaggio, work preserved in the Roman church of Santa Maria del Popolo

This is why often I get excited when I hear epic stories. I love literature, the theater and its own cinema for this reason. In fourth high school I loved the eternal lines of 'Iliade, siege of Troy. In that case the classical Greece has handed down orally even violent confrontation between Achilles, iracondo, and Ettore. At Cinema, I was moved before the brotherly love of Raymond and Charlie Babbit, interpreters that Dustin Hoffman will Tom Cruise, the unforgettable RainmanMan of the Rain. On stage, they gave me joy, the Ernest Sweetheart cunning arguments Import of being Ernest. The "epics" of warriors, brothers and men with the heart beating are gifts that will always carry with me.

.

The epic is one of a thousand reasons why I joined and I continue to adhere to the faith in Christ and so I joined the Order of Preachers. Faith in Jesus Christ, in its essential ad, says epic: It announces that the love of a God so great for fallen and suffering humanity enough to die on the cross to redeem. But the epic of Christianity is emphasized by St. Paul at the beginning of the song that I wanted to mention. The epic is contained in verbal couple "I received […] I sent '.

.

St. Paul speaks of a fact deliver, a Tradition. That is a figure that, over the centuries, continuously it communicated and reaches us: this figure is the essential message of Christ. Even the liturgy, we note, It focuses on Tradition. In the Roman Canon we can listen in fact this sentence:

.

«[…] and all true, and the Catholic Church,, apostolic faith [And with all those who guard the Catholic faith transmitted by the Apostles'.

.

the martyrdom of St. Paul, by Mattia Preti [XVII sec.]

Several times, perhaps even in the queer and inopportune moments, I meditated on this passage of the Roman Canon. It is again the missal to emphasize the epic and the love of all those who have labored in the guard and give us that announcement intact. So I look back with joy to those in my life who have guarded and transmitted the message of Jesus: in the first place my two grandmothers. Really they have given me an invaluable repository of faith.

.

Tradition is the Trinitarian dance circling the world. It is the main force, together with the Scripture, with which the Church makes us participants in the whole world the message of Christ. A message, teaches the Letter to Diognetus, which is not invented by a philosophical reflection. That message is essentially the encounter with the Risen Jesus.

.

To broadcast, be part of the Tradition means ultimately bring together the poor and the needy, material as a spiritual, the face of God who loves him and keep him,.

I then try to make a breakthrough.

.

Inside the tomb of St. Paul, in the homonymous major Roman basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls

Father Yves Congar [1904-1995], In the 1975 he wrote:

.

"Tradition (And) something quite different from a mechanical and repetitive affirmation of the past: it is the active presence of a principle in all its history ".

.

We called ourselves to enter into the dynamics of Tradition, as clerics, secular and religious. Called to be a living presence with the Tradition. The order to which I belong, the Order of Preachers founded by St. Dominic de Guzman, It was born of the thirst for truth that the men of the thirteenth century yearned desperately; the Middle Aged, desertified by Cathar and Waldensian, He begged our brothers: "Bring the refreshing water of the Catholic faith".

.

This deep desire has not stopped the mIDDLE aGE. It has survived the centuries and it is now up to date. So all of us, not only the Dominicans, today continue to preach and transmit the integrity of the doctrine and to strive to live every moment, despite our sins and our weaknesses. Thinking back to the double blessing, will be implemented upon the spouses the request of the celebrant: "Holy Father, grant that these sons, united in front of you as spouses, communicate to your table, to participate together with joy at the banquet of heaven ". Thinking back to the religious profession and ordination will implement the formula: "And God who began this work in you, bring it to completion ". We become everyone humble fervent Catholics, loads of Holy Tradition, and the fulfillment of God's masterpiece will be realized in us.

Fragility, Roman work of painter Anna Boschini, It is from the catalog of Mondadori Art, 2019 [cf. Vitarte Gallery, WHO]

I challenge readers from The Island of Patmos never to have heard in Church - including groups of laity, religious communities, priests or curial environment - expression: "It has always done so".

.

This sentence, far from wanting to preserve tradition - the real one, no traditionalism - is actually the biggest threat to the growth of the Church community. Behind 'has always done well', It hides the trap that prevents the Christian to be an authentic witness of the risen Lord.

.

Here then is to break into the second spiritual sickness: the lukewarmness. You get to contracting this disease when we take the habit of doing things for the Lord routine. As well as teaching the old manuals of spirituality, lukewarmness may cover all or incipient the perfect.

.

It seems strange, but often we can discover us lukewarm just after taking a sufficient degree of fervor and union with the Lord. Indeed, closing the grace or the Holy Spirit's inspirations, They are characterized as hazardous elements that draw them to the lukewarm; as well as the crystallization in a faith that satisfies a purely human vision. In this case, the complacency of an artificial faith takes over the "new wine" (cf. MC 2, 22) the Lord wants to pour with plenty in my life and I will see jailed me to repeat the same pattern that will drain the vitality of the Gospel, leading me spiritual flattening.

.

wanting to hazard a definition of lukewarm we can say that: is repetitive devotion to the work of man that is opposed to the virtue of religion which consists of a readiness of mind toward God. And the Word of God is clear, about the condemnation of apathy and lukewarm condemnation of man:

.

"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. I would thou wert cold or hot! But because you are lukewarm, that is, you are neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth " (cf. AP 3,14-16).

.

After the storm, Roman work of painter Anna Boschini

Many ecclesial communities They are infested with this type of disease and everything is contaminated by this disease: fraternal relations, love life, the economics, the selection and election of community leaders, liturgical life, the charity … Often, in front of a fair appeal before this soporific lifestyle, There is justified by saying: "What harm do? My prayers try to say them, Sunday Mass more or less follow her, what else should I do?». What is missing in these people and these communities is a holy restlessness to know Jesus and to make him loved.

.

The apathy is recognized by several symptoms, byiamone with someone: the first symptom, It is the normalization. Today we have a tendency to standardize everything and then to justify everything. For example sin. Normalize sin is to recognize that God's love wound, because it is accomplished by many and with a certain frequency, It loses its problematic. Or they tend to normalize sinful acts minimizing them: "I committed peccadilloes, I had a passioncella, I kept the bad habit '.

. .

Challenge, Roman work of painter Anna Boschini

The warm tends to normalize and to minimize the reality that surrounds him with the illusion of bringing peace and mercy. It is self-convinced that there is nothing left to improve in your life because - after all - has reached a stable equilibrium reassuring. However, Jesus in the Gospel does not praise the tepid demand but raising the level of discipleship toward a justice empowered by sanctifying grace:

.

"I will indeed say: unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, never enter the kingdom of heaven " [cf. Mt 5,20].

.

The third symptom of apathy is doubt, son of lukewarmness, who the tepid man has a great propensity to doubt - not because he is a skeptic convinced - but because the question allows him to not take a clear position on faith and relationship with God. Often it is usually repeated phrases like these: "I think I'm a believer but I have always been many unresolved doubts about faith ', and although he is chosen in a good accompaniment which tends to settle certain problematic, doubts persist anchored to the will of the person. To which come Moses, the lukewarm who doubts, It is unable to enter the Promised Land in which he fully realizes the relationship with God [cf. Dt 32,48-52]. It is content to see the spiritual reality from afar. There is a substantial difference, however,, that Moses became a source of shame and emphasizes a certain incompleteness to their vocation; in warm doubt it is conceived as relief that relieves, Once again, the problem of God.

.

Meeting to freedom, Roman work of painter Anna Boschini

Fourth symptom of apathy It is the free rein of concupiscence. The man who is immersed in lukewarm, soon lost the reference to the person of God, the ability to renounce himself and status new man Saint Paul calls for the man who has been redeemed by Christ [cf. Mt 16,24; MC 8,34; LC 9,23; Ef 4,24]. With the proliferation of various disorders in the soul that makes human nature far from grace, the warm is a slave of lust that he himself helped to feed. Here, then, that theso in lust it leads to the maturation of some very dangerous fruit - the seven deadly sins - that lead to ever greater moral disorders, much to spoil the beauty of man created by God. This lust leads man to regress to a condition that enslaves their instincts and passions.

.

In the past the holy fathers of monasticism Evagrius Ponticus, John Damascene, Gregory of Nyssa, Antonio Abate since most expert of the human soul, They had worked out different ways to fight the deadly sins, in addition to the constant vigilance of the heart, It was necessary evangelization of conscience, thoughts and feelings.

.

With this second contribution which he sought to analyze the spiritual sickness of apathy, You want to warn the Christians so that there is always a steady progression in the journey of knowledge of the Lord, because as rightly teaches St. Augustine, the not advance the cause of God means going back. And because the desire for God's holiness for all his children [cf 1Ts 4,3], we can only fight the disease of apathy that cloaked nowadays of doing good and tolerance reaps many victims in the Church.

The paradigm of “as direct Stolta”: from the fifteenth century monasteries reduced to brothels to the twenty-first century infertility. The rejection of reality creates the decadence that leads to death. We can say that in religious life for women all went well after Vatican II ?

THE PARADIGM OF STRAIGHT Stolta: FROM THE MONASTERY OF XV CENTURY A REDUCED brothels TO THE XXI CENTURY STERILITY. REFUSAL OF REALITY THAT CREATES VOID THAT LEADS TO DEATH. WE CAN SAY THAT IN RELIGIOUS LIFE FEMALE EVERYTHING WENT WELL AFTER THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL ?

.

The products posthumously to the Second Vatican Council are now under the eyes of all: half a century by what some suggest as the largest Church Council, or the council of the councils, the Church is facing a crisis of doctrine, moral and spiritual before which it is really hard to find historical precedents, because it is a situation of a crisis entirely new. Therefore, before the as direct Stolta who claims: "Know we can not go back to the dark times of the Council of Trent!», I think I can replicate that in terms of women's religious life, perhaps it would be better to go back to the period before the Council of Trent, when many female monasteries were reduced to authentic brothels, because in fact we spent the better, at least, They coexisted with the good wheat and weeds.

Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo

It was in the end of the year away 1563 when the 3 December, two days before the closure of the session, The Council of Trent approved a decree on religious and the nuns. Within this document they were also established more precise rules on the subject of the enclosure, linked to religious and to the interiors and exteriors of their homes. Already at the end of the thirteenth century, with bubble dangerously promulgated in 1298 by Pope Boniface VIII, then entered into force in 1302, the norms on the observance of the enclosure and its reintroduction were reaffirmed wherever they had been abandoned [1]. Even despite, at the turn of the XV and XVI century, rules enclosure had not been effectively implemented, except by a few female religious orders: the Poor Clares, the Dominicans, the first Carmelite and Carthusian. All other nuns, especially those living in their great abbeys and monasteries, It had increasingly moved away from those very precise and strict rules aimed at the moral protection of women's religious institutions.

.

It would be interesting and instructive to study in depth of Teresa of Avila real life, that his daughters for the first are careful not to transmit, making them more comfortable to just remember and recount his sublime ecstasies, but they came toward the end of his life. Different was the existence of this great Saint and reformer of the Carmelite Order, just remember that when he was appointed prioress of the Monastery of the Incarnation in Avila, the one hundred and thirty nuns who lived there gave rise to riots to prevent her from entering, until he physically attacks on the door of the monastery the procession that accompanied the new prioress, who was not elected by the chapter of nuns, but chosen by superiors of the Order at the urging of the Ecclesiastical Authority of the place, to bring into line the turbulent and relaxed inhabitants of the monastery. Why not mention that this great Tridentine reform, First of mystical ecstasy, He had to use as prioress of the populous monastery of on-call duty, used as appropriate for business to beat the rebellious nuns? And why, not mentioning that his room was guarded night and its cuisine and its controlled foods with care to avoid being poisoned? Therefore, the figure of St. Teresa of Avila only reduced to a mystical ecstatic Christological love, is an image that if one part is more convenient course, other less embarrasses all those who to this day, albeit in different ways and forms, in over five hundred years they have not yet transposed the solemn lesson of their Holy Mother.

.

How Teresa's lesson has not been transposed? To do understand we must always resort to practical concrete examples, like this: Some years ago I found myself celebrating Mass in a monastery of Carmelite nuns in place of the chaplain. When at the time of Holy Communion I went to the grating of the choir, the prioress came forward to me with a glass case to take the Eucharist to a nun who could not walk. the whispered:

.

"Rev. Madre, do not worry about it, I open the lattice gate that I enter into the choir to bring Communion to the sick nun ".

.

Replica prioress:

.

"It is not possible, knows: we papal enclosure, for this I am an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion ".

.

I do not put certain to make a fuss with the ciborium in his hand containing the Precious Body of Christ, the so called the Holy Eucharist to bring to sister. After Mass I left the church and, before rising in the car, I put it in a hidden corner of the outer wall of the enclosure, I turned on the phone and checked if there were missed calls and messages. And so, from within Blessed papal enclosure, I hear male voices. I move away from the wall and climb on a nearby off to see from a distance if I can catch a glimpse inside the cloistered space. Beyond the wall of Blessed papal enclosure there were two people in their twenties, dressed in a tank top and shorts - to clarify: The football shorts, in practice the underwear - which I assume were doing chores, because they work tools. It was clear that at that time they were on break, In fact they were talking loudly loudly and fiddling with one of their cell phones, as if they were watching something particularly funny on display.

.

Needless to specify in, because with common sense we can also reach the fasting in canon law: a presbyter, the exercise of its functions can sacramental, indeed must enter the necessary papal enclosure, with all the methods dictated by the canons and the monastic rules - I know, and my brother priests equally -, to administer the Sacraments to the sick nuns. But above all I have full authority to do that just in case, while the prioress prevented me to join the choir during the celebration of Holy Mass to bring Holy Communion to a sick before the whole community, and under the eyes of the faithful in the church, at the same time, however, he allowed a couple of young men more undressed than dressed to move uninhibited, coarse and irreverent in the spaces of Blessed papal enclosure the Discalced Carmelites. And while pouring followed the diaphanous image of Teresa of Avila in ecstasy, at the same time it continues to ignore that Holy Mother, the reform of the Order Carmelite, He made it necessary even with a stick. And with this as I think was explained and clarified how five hundred years, not for a few, rather unfortunately for many, They are spent unnecessarily, from century to century, from reform to reform.

.

WHEN TRAGEDY IS TOO TRAGIC, BETTER dampen WITH COLOR NOTE

.

When problems are very serious and situations that derive truly tragic, I always avail of a consolidated my faculties: From a note of color. In this case, a rose note, femininely intended. Indeed, to inspire this paper was a woman belonging to the most unfortunate of women's categories, which it is that of so-called its direct Stolte. Having said this, it should be stated that many priests and monks, in their superficial folly, They can only be overcome by the nuns. The sisters remain unsurpassed in fact an element to which even the worst of clerics and religious never be able to reach: that particular malice characterized by cruelty elements often untold which is totally unique and peculiar of the sisters. And so, finding a deal with a as direct Stolta belonging to one of an increasing number of congregations in agony destined in the coming years to the total extinction for lack of vocations and for the now very high age of religious in it survived, my question if by chance, during the period after the Second Vatican Council, something in his, as in many other congregations, It did not go the right way, the poor responds with this display of admirable acumen: "Know we can not go back to the dark times of the Council of Trent!».

.

The I state and I admit "candidly": I do not ask better than to be able to embarrass a as direct Stolta, those which on one hand are afraid of opening, modernity and confidence, on the other, if a four year old of their asylum must be helped to urinate, here to assist ship's secular teacher, They may remain troubled day and night for a week by the attribute of a beardless little angel, though the little angels do not orinino, since they lacked the raw material, namely the manly attribute, given that the angels have no sex. Indeed, none of our Guardian Angels was never sick prostate, while being forced to act as patron to some of the worst priests, the worst of the worst monks and nuns, What this would cause prostate cancer also apparatus urologenitale healthier. Maybe that's why the angels were created without sex, to avoid serious inflammatory and cancer diseases of the urogenital reactive to having to fulfill the role of priests keepers, brothers and sisters. Granted and admitted everything, I went to my answer was that this:

.

"You see, Dear sister, the Council of Trent, in case you did not know, of merit he has had many and, to be honest, the worst darkness, if anything, has freed us. In a very special way he has delivered you religious, for example prohibiting the establishment and the lives of those who called themselves secular language Case Closed».

.

However, since the as direct Stolta I do not understand, I wonder if instead or pretended not to understand, I had to enlighten thus continuing the conversation:

.

"... you know that before the Council of Trent had obscure monasteries and convents that were authentic brothels? Suffice it to say that during his homily from the pulpit of the Basilica of San Marco held on 25 December 1497, the famous Franciscan preacher Timothy from Lucca had railed against the sins being committed in the convents of Venice denouncing: “[…] when some Lord in this land, you show him the monasteries of nuns, but they are not monasteries, but brothels and public brothels” [2]. Such were in fact the monasteries - that is to say the brothels - because the noble and rich families in a very particular way, often related to issues both their assets, It is sometimes also political issues, locked up - or as they used to say they monk - their daughters, within those religious structures, But they had their separate accommodation, their servants and their own kitchen. There were powerful and noble families who built specifically abbeys and monasteries for their daughters, equipping of assets and income; and young nun of these families, in these monasteries were always elected abbess and rigor, because otherwise the powerful family would have revoked annuities. Animate so far by faith, vocation and virtues of life, young led within those sacred walls mundane existences, not infrequently as real courtesans, complete with internal parties and men who went in and out without problems; and monasteries where reigned absolute in the most unspeakable moral debauchery, They were those of the Benedictine monks and nuns of the Cistercian ".

.

In 1514 the Inquisition in Venice He had the opportunity to deal with a case beyond the same human imagination, the pious Benedictine monks of the Monastery of San Zaccaria, than happy to have turned their parlor - and not just the parlor -, in a reception lounge for youngsters, singers and actors, One day they organized a costume party that in its course turned into a veritable bacchanal that rivals the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, that as we remind any fasts in Roman history they were two brothels in the open [3].

.

The Church Council of Trent first he reported the monasteries and convents to be what they were supposed to be: places of prayer and penance. The decree of 3 December 1563 He forbade the profession of vows before the age of sixteen and the entrance into the monastery before the twelve; He imposed the requirement of at least one year of novitiate and ruled that the bishop FINDS the real will of the young person to freely pursue a religious life. That decree reestablished so the principle of the enclosure, and subject to few exceptions no nun could leave the monastery and no outsider could enter, especially men. In 1566, with bubble About pastoral duties the Holy Pontiff Pius V impose the penalty of excommunication of all offenders, while the ecclesiastical laws had already clarified and included among the offenses that of carnal sacrilege. So only a priest, preferably elderly or in any case chosen with care by the bishop, He was admitted within the enclosure and solely to administer the sacraments to the sick or infirm nuns, and it was required by canon laws that four elderly nuns I welcome him at the entrance of the enclosure, They accompany him and then lead him back exit. The young nuns relationships with family were reduced to short meetings in the parlor, all with the rigid separation created by dense gratings, from which he could hear the voice of the nun but only barely one could catch a glimpse of the figure. The great noble families raised many protests against this hardening of convent life, but none of their protests prevented the application of the new rules born from the "dark times of the Council of Trent", which prevented families to solve their capital problems and inheritance sending their daughters in the abbeys and monasteries, and also preventing daughters without any glimmer of vocation to change these religious houses in authentic brothels within which to lead lives of real courtesans. A phenomenon, that of young people forced to monastication, who assumed implications at times not a little disturbing, especially in the cities of Venice, Naples and Palermo.

.

Several decades after the end of the Council of Trent, the civil authorities of the Republic of Venice came to introduce a law against Munich - the nuns lovers were given in this way - which provided up to the death penalty, This is not only for the carnal sacrilege but also for the simple violation of the enclosure. Law introduced in concrete but remained a dead letter made, because both the dissolute nuns, both their Munich, they belonged, if no penalty but almost always, the most powerful and highly placed families of those same cities.

.

Not only, with the Council of Trent, dignity was returned to religious life, because after that season of reform, the Church and the world was able to witness one of his extraordinary rebirth. All with all due respect to the as direct Stolta with hair in the wind and to his knees skirts fluttering on the 'obscurantism Tridentine "at the bedside of his dying congregation now in the oncology department of women's religious life, which currently hospitalized dozens of religious congregations that within a few years no longer exist.

.

It was the true obscurantism!

.

THE COUNCIL OF TRENTO OFFERED GREAT MEDICINE BUT THE CARE WAS NOT TOTAL BECAUSE OF MANY DOCTORS WHO DID NOT PRACTICE IT

.

The Council of Trent It was not exactly a meeting between brothers gathered in Rome to talk a little ' modernization and pastoral, replacing dialogue at the harsh sentence e the rigor of the hard doctrine to theological reasoning open and pluralist, like five centuries following - just to clarify -, It was reduced the Second Vatican Council, during which it was produced: before para-council theologians in cahoots with journalists, Then follows the much more problematic post-council, which gave rise to that for years I define as the Council egomenico socio-theologians. The Council of Trent had first run for eighteen years [1545 – 1563] and it took place under the pontificates of Popes Paul III, born Alessandro Farnese principles [Canine 1468 - Rome 1549], Giulio III [Monte San Savino 1487 - Rome 1555], PO IV [Milan 1499 - Rome 1565]. I considered it appropriate to clarify this history because of the ignorance that reigns today - alas, even and especially in the Catholic clergy -, not rarely have heard clergy and pastors in the care of souls say that the Council of Trent would take place under the pontificate of St. Pius V, He was instead elected two years after the closing of the Council of Trent, In the 1566. This confusion unfortunately generated from gross ignorance stems from the fact that the Saint Pius V published 14 July 1570 the reformed and unified edition Roman Missal, also known as Missal of St. Pius V or how Tridentine Missal.

.

The Council of Trent offered, Also at disciplinary level, undoubted, large and effective treatments. We could say that in his own way he established chemotherapy to fight cancer and prevent the spread of metastases in the body of the Church. Even in spite of the visible Church it was far from the mutate in the following decades in the Heavenly Jerusalem, because the fight against cancer and metastases will always be ineffective if oncologists in charge fail to carry out the treatment with all its therapies. All this we learn from the writings and words penned fire and spoken by different saints in their lyrics or sermons. Sant'Alfonso Maria de 'Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church [1696-1726] He did not hesitate to complain about the bleak and low level of Bishops of Southern Italy, their economic interests and their subservience to political power in achieving the benefits and perquisites; He did not hesitate even to identify them scarce pastoral skills, but above the low theological formation, with all that could ensue from such bishops to their clergy. Needless to say, we are about two centuries after the close of the Council of Trent.

.

Complaints similar to those of the Holy Bishop and doctor Alfonso Maria de 'Liguori, emerge in different expressive style but identical in substance from the writings of Blessed Antonio Rosmini, It collected more than a century after the work The Five Wounds of the Holy Church [the text edited by Rosmini Fathers is readable WHO].

.

Are Sant'Alfonso Maria de ’Liguori, below Blessed Antonio Rosimini, respectively they were expressed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries within terms so real and severe, this is due to the fact that after two three centuries after the close of the Council of Trent, even some of its fundamental rules had not yet been applied in many regions of old Europe, including quite a few ancient local churches of apostolic foundation. Like this, for seeming paradox, The Council of Trent had better and more widespread application in mission lands through the work of missionaries, that moving the Tridentine whole continents evangelized disciplines. The consequences were that, while in the missions of Latin America the missionaries provided to institute in the 16th century seminars made compulsory by the Fathers of the Council for the formation of priests, in many ancient Diocese of Southern Italy, the mid-eighteenth century, the seminars were not yet in place. And when they were instituted, it were to form in them the children of the nobility or the upper middle class, then be allocated to important ecclesiastical posts, while the majority of future priests seguitavano to receive their education from poor rural pastors as they did before the Council of Trent. It should not be forgotten that for matters both political and economic, in many European countries, the application of many canons of the Council of Trent, It was hampered by the rulers, obviously with the complacent acquiescence of the local bishops, that if one side did not apply, on the other profited, by the Bourbons in southern Italy as the German princes in the far north of Europe, their good benefits and perquisites.

.

The Council of Trent established the age of twenty-five years to receive priestly ordination, but many bishops are not adhered to that as to other provisions, It is something comprehensive as one of the great saints of charity, Vincenzo de 'Paoli [Pouy, 1581 - Paris, 1660], coming from a very poor family and encouraged by his father to study divinity with the support of a wealthy lawyer of Toulouse who paid his education expenses, but above all we do not know if it moved initially from a true vocation, which in any case came later and with results quite extraordinary. Indeed, the father, he hoped that in the future, acquired one status superior, his son could help and support the family. Regardless of the provisions of the first four decades by the canons of the Council of Trent, the Bishop of Toulouse ordained him priest at only nineteen years 23 September of 1600.

.

AFTER THE COUNCIL OF TRENT, MAYBE THE DISAPPEARED FROM MONASTERIES malpractice FEMALE?

.

The sixteenth century was undoubtedly the century of the great reformers and great Saints who formed and concrete implementation of the reforms made by the Council of Trent, think of Saint Ignatius [Azpeitia, 1491 - Rome, 1556] and his first Comrades, a San Filippo Neri [Florence, 1515 - Rome 1595] and St. Felix of Cantalice [Cantalice, 1515 - Rome, 1587], a San Carlo Borromeo [Arona, 1538 – Milano, 1584], to San Pietro da Alcantara [Alcántara, 1499 – Arenas, 1562], a Santa Teresa d’Avila [Avila, 1515 - Alba de Tormes, 1582] and St. John of the Cross [Fontiveros, 1542 – Úbeda, 1591], San Giovanni d'Avila [Almodovar del Campo, 1499 - Montilla, 1569], St John of God [Montemor-o-Novo, 1495 – Granada, 1550] ... without forgetting of course the already mentioned figure of the Saint Pius V [Bosco Marengo, 1504 - Rome, 1572], that for these Saints was inspiring and authentic teaching model, moral and pastoral virtues.

.

The vices and moral decadence that snaked in convents and monasteries between the fifteenth and the sixteenth, They were far from being eradicated. Or to put it with some sad examples chosen at random among the many historically available: a stone's throw from Rome, in the town of Sora, the mid-nineteenth, in the canonical territory of the Diocese of Sora-Aquino-Pontecorvo, the abbess of the monastery of Santa Chiara, Domna Maria Francesca Tronconi, Arch-communicated Montecassino, Dom Celestino Gonzaga from Naples, that Canon Basil Fortuna, member of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Sora and ordinary confessor of the nuns of St. Clare, He had abused three nuns during sacramental confessions and have them put pregnant. of the three, a certain Iacobelli, in the days that the abbess wrote that letter she would be close to giving birth [4].

.

How can we forget what we are then able certain religious, just tell among many a case: In the 1821, two nuns of the monastery of St. Andrew Apostle to Arpino and with them a third, even schoolgirl, They accused the ordinary confessor of serious harassment. After careful canonical investigations the allegations proved unfounded, however, and the three women withdrew their complaint, trying to argue that you were wrong and that they had merely misunderstood the priest. The sad story was completely different, however, in terms: one of the nuns had marchingegnato all with the support and complicity of the other two, wishing she retaliate in every way the confessor who the previous year had Ecclesiastical Authority denounced a priest to serious abuses of religious. The priest denounced, But this was a relative of a nun, he thought tarnished the good name of his family because of that complaint. Like this, the religious, he tried to take revenge by making the same accusation to this innocent [5].

.

According to the term of the Holy Bishop and Doctor of the Church Ambrose of Milan [Gaul 337 – Mediolanum 397] the Church is "chaste whore», One woman chaste. Expression, the ancient Bishop of Milan on which over a decade ago, the Venerable Pontiff Benedict XVI structured one of his homilies indicating the Church as "holy and made up of sinners" [6] [the full text is readable, WHO]. In some particular historical moments, the Church does not even appear to be made up simply defeasible men and sinners, but as a veritable structure of sin which produces an internal sin and that it spreads to its outer.

.

Even before the Council of Trent, the immorality and the great moral decay that raged in the clergy was condemned in the strongest possible terms by the Fourth Lateran Council, Seventy who promulgated decrees of reform and that he was called to the man of iron of Pope Innocent III [Gavignano 1161 – Perugia 1216]. The disciplinary canons of this council suggest in a very clear and comprehensive way what were the deep and serious moral lapse and corruptions that impestavano the clergy. but yet, a few decades later, after the celebration of that Council, another saint and doctor of the Church, Bonaventura da Bagnoregio [Bagnoregio 1221 - Lyon 1274], he expressed himself in these terms at all reassuring:

.

"Rome corrupts the prelates who corrupt the priests who corrupt the People of God".

.

To assess the situation in this Church, one wonders if the disciplinary canons against moral immorality of the clergy were written for the church 1215 or to those of today [text in Italian translation is readable, WHO].

.

No Council, He never made the perfect Church, none of them has ever destroyed corruption of man and sin. I concilî, some of them in particular, They have given the Church oxygen and they put her in a position to continue to live in an ecclesial body made up of clerics and lay faithful within which always lived with sinners and saints. All this is explained by the parable of the weeds and the good grain that ends with these words:

.

«[…] From where it is therefore the tares? And he answered them: An enemy has done this. And the servants said: Do you want us to go and gather? No, He answered, because when you, gathering the weeds, with it also uproot the wheat. Let them both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to burn; but gather the wheat into my barn " [Mt 13, 27-30].

.

WHAT IS THE REAL SITUATION OF WOMEN RELIGIOUS LIFE AFTER THE GREAT BREATH OF THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL ?

.

To answer this question let's start from the figures: the world's population now has seven and a half billion people, in today's world the average age of a woman's life is 70 years and eight months; that of a European woman is 84 years and nine months. Today the world's Catholics are about one billion three hundred million. The religious orders and religious congregations, according to statistics the 30 October 2018 They have made official data 2017, amount to 659.445, subtracting the number of deaths to the number of new religious professions have a decrease of less 10.885, the average age of religious is equal to 64 year old, but if the statistics were removed from Africa and some Asian countries, the average age of religious would be above 70 year old, testing is something that in Europe, for two decades in this part, religious are gradually disappearing from whole diocese [cf. official statistics, WHO]. We are now going back sixty years, to be exact, five years before the opening of the Second Vatican Council, when according to the paradigm of as direct Stolta used as the theme of my writing, vigevano rules "obscurantist" the Council of Trent. In 1958 the world population had two billion nine hundred million people, Catholics around the world were about 800 millions, the average age of a woman's life was 49 year old, that of a European woman 67 year old, religious orders and religious congregations were in 1957 one million and sixty thousand, the average age of the religious was 41 year old, subtracting the number of deaths to the number of new religious professions have increased more 12.450.

.

I point out, who possibly had not paid any attention, when are these two alarming statistics: that recorded when ever existed "obscurantism Tridentine", one recorded half a century after the explosion of New Pentecost occurred with the Second Vatican Council. The alarming fact is based on both the number of the world population and on that of Catholics worldwide. Indeed, in the era when "obscurantist" the world's population did not reach three billion people and the Catholics were about 800 millions, religious in the world were more than a million, while half a century after New Pentecost, compared with a world population more than doubled - seven billion and a half people -, and in the face of a worldwide Catholic population increased from about 800 millions of faithful to one billion three hundred million, religious are lowered to an equal number to over 400.000 in just sixty years, all - I repeat again - while the world's population had more than doubled, while Catholics were half a billion members in more than about half a century before.

.

If the numbers are dry and have no soul, But they have a history, above all, a reason for being, here then rise to the first question: if after what some ecclesiastics and contemporary theologians define triumphantly as the greatest council of church history, we have come to these statistics; if by the day close religious institutions, monasteries and convents historical tradition, someone, intends to begin to wonder if, in what at the time was defined as New Pentecost, something did not go the right way? It is a response, this, which is required so serenely painful to the Ecclesiastical Authority and to the Pastors of the Church, It is not claimed by prevention, or irony, and least of all by blind ideology: is a response claimed by the numbers, which as I said before do not have souls, but they have their own history and their reason for being. E, These staggering numbers, half a century since the end of the church council represent a question that just claim reply, although it costs to admit that just before, that during and after the Second Vatican Council, something went wrong, with the consequent result that today we have before; results made entirely undeniable aridity, but at the same time from the undeniable precision of the numbers.

.

It WAS REQUIRED "UPDATE" OF RELIGIOUS STROKES SUITS, HEADS UNCOVERED AND PUT INTO FOLD THE HAIRDRESSER ?

.

Between the mid-sixties and the early seventies of the twentieth century, the lives of most women's congregations was shocked - more and worse than those of men -, the largest wave of so-called "update". There have been various capocomici during the unhappy season of the post-conciliar egomenico - at the head of all the Jesuits, that in many religious institutes held for many years the ministry of confessors and spiritual directors -, who they have literally turned upside down life, the meaning of life and charisma of those institutions. O, always use concrete examples: but to 1965 religious were covered with their clothes from head to toe and her hair completely hidden by the veil, the meaning and the sense of which date until the time of the apostolic. The same Blessed Virgin Mary is depicted in iconography since the first centuries with so-called maphorion [maphórion]. The maphorion, then known as "monastic veil", It was and still is the sign of the virgins consecrated to God. The Blessed Apostle Paul, addressing to the people of Corinth, recommended for women to cover their heads. It is an apostolic letter from undoubtedly put the era and culture in which it was written, but through a message that has never lost relevance it implies the sign and the intimate sense of belonging to God the woman he consecrated [The Cor 11, 1-6]. But here suddenly, a few years after the last council, we found ourselves in front of nuns dressed in tailors, with skirts that barely covered the knee and with dyed hair treated with permanent and cared for by styling your hair done at the hairdresser. I wonder and wonder: and perhaps an attack of treason, just say and nothing but the truth, namely that such things, in North America and several European countries, They are mainly occurring at those religious congregations which have always, if not for real tradition, They are availing themselves of the Jesuits as confessors, spiritual directors, teachers and preachers? [one example among many, WHO].

.

The facts show that the so-called "updating" of the religious in tailors, with bare heads and hairdresser's curls, produced emptying of entire congregations, which will disappear permanently when octogenarians survived today will finally be buried with their tailors, their bare heads and put them into the fold of the hairdresser. But, die-date! And with them it will be delivered to the grave of their religious congregation, and also just updated.

.

THE RELIGIOUS HOUSES AND EMPTY nefarious "CAMPAIGNS PURCHASE" THE VARIOUS RELIGIOUS CONGREGATIONS Rasenti A TIME ... THE "TRAFFICKING IN BLACK"

.

In certain things we must proceed with caution because unfortunately there is an ideological closure priori: indeed, everything is black, itself is beautiful and good. Above all, everything is black, survived victim, or falling victim to the nefarious colonial policies and conquest of the various countries of the West. If in various countries of the African continent today we find ourselves with an unmanageable clergy who, starting from the great chimera of inculturation - another magical word of the post council - ended up becoming a clergy that ranges between animism and an adulterated and corrupt Catholicism, this is due to the fact that between the middle and the end of the Sixties, the Holy Pontiff Paul VI had the questionable vision of wanting to create at all costs of the local bishops, unmindful that some of those countries had been evangelized even thirty years ago. There have been numerous cases of elevated subject to the episcopal dignity only forty years, or at thirty or thirty-eight, who had been baptized and become Christians at thirteen or fifteen years, after being born and raised in families that had taught them from childhood to animistic cults and the worship of ancestral spirits.

.

In times gone by there someone tried to tell the Holy Pontiff Paul VI that in order to create an indigenous clergy, and that it took generations to create the first bishops chosen among natives was best to wait for a century, or at least no less than seventy or eighty, but at this, he well knew him well, would not listen, committing, in this as in other cases, of considerable errors. We clarify the whole with an example related to a sad figure, that Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, excommunicated in 2006 and then discharged from the clerical state in 2009 [official document, WHO] …

.

… Emmanuel Milingo was born in 1930 Zambia, African country where real evangelization - after some sporadic attempts made only at the end of the nineteenth century in a few places by small groups of missionaries -, It starts only after 1915. He received the baptism in 1942 the age of twelve and priestly ordination in 1958 at the age of 28 year old. In 1959, just 39 year old, He is elected Archbishop of Lusaka, Capital of Zambia. He received episcopal consecration by Pope Paul VI, who he had wanted bishop and who greeted him as the youngest bishop in the entire African Continent. This timeline does not need comments, because the apotheosis imprudence is enclosed all the dates, which just add that the apostolic vicariates established around the 1915 Zambia, They have only been elevated to diocese between the 1959 and the 1976. Emmanuel Milingo was the first native archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lusaka, his predecessors were two appointed Polish Jesuit missionary bishops holders and placed at the head of the Apostolic Vicariate: Bruno Wolnik from 1927 al 1950; Adam Kozłowiecki dal 1955 al 1969. The latter, First he cultivated and then pointed to Paul VI, the young Emmanuel Milingo as a figure of Episcopal profile. In the consistory of 21 February 1998 Adam Kozłowiecki was made a cardinal by the Holy Father John Paul II, while Emmanuel Milingo, for its problematic not sustainable on site, He had already been forced to give up the government of his diocese and called to Rome in 1983. Fifteen years before the mentor Emmanuel Milingo was created cardinal for his missionary and pastoral merits - merits to which you could add a concept in vogue in the Society of Jesus, or the “ability to discern” —, he had already given all the problems worse, until his grotesque participation as a guest singer at the Italian Song Festival in San Remo 1997, to follow with its entry into a sect, his sham marriage with a Korean Lady, his act of apostasy from the faith and of schism from the Catholic Church. At the concrete evidence of Emmanuel Milingo facts he has not done anything to miss, however, it remains unanswered the key question: those who occasionally helps with its own light, emotional and imaginative recklessness the birth and development of similar “monsters”, in our Church in which Caesar is never wrong and Caesar's wife is always and penalty above any suspicion?

.

What have been the results of certain pastoral choices? It was, unfortunately, that many bishops of these countries just evangelized, in fact they behaved as the great tribal leaders, but above all they had always at groups of young service nuns belonging to the myriad of congregations of diocesan right arose like mushrooms during the whole of Africa; and all with the same original and strange charisma: assist bishops and priests. However, in a socio-cultural context in which today priestly celibacy, but especially chastity linked to it, it is not easy to penetrate, it was necessary to collect, for bishops and for priests, of the domestic sexual so clean, so to speak, avoiding, if anything, that the priests leave pregnant girls from village to village. And what happened to practice, If the nun became pregnant? If it was not had an abortion - what unfortunately happened several times -, at that point the nun ended thrown out by the community, and the priest sent instead to study in Rome at the Congregation expenses of reliable advertising.

.

Since the anthropological wolf He loses his hair but not the vice, here in 2008, the four corners of the large refectory of the Roman Collegio San Pietro next to the Pontifical Urban University, appear signs that warn: "It is forbidden to the priests pick up the nuns in their rooms'. Signs that were read by dozens of priests, including two today, more than a decade away, They have become bishops, one of an African diocese, one of a missionary diocese of Latin America; were in fact the ones who, to inform me of these signs posted by the rector of the college and to make me see the images themselves photographed.

.

While in the prime of New Pentecost the houses of religious institutes were emptied during the seventies, while many novitiates were now deserted and shortly thereafter, the nuns of old Europe would have to begin to come to terms with age, here is that their superiors general farsighted decided together with their tips to open missions in several African and Asian countries. And in the late seventies and early eighties he began: the shameless and somewhat immoral ways recruitment drive we might in some ways be compared to a real It is black.

.

But we have to prudently fly on how to treat and difficult to put on the right line certain African youth, culturally refractory even the most basic forms of discipline are the backbone of community life in religious communities, because addressing certain issues would stand promptly in response a polyphonic chorus of souls politically correct to begin the solemn hymn: At racist, the racist! And we do not talk about what happened in certain religious communities when they are ready rather than Brazilian groups, with elderly nuns who prayed for the grace of a good death fast, or at least the grace to remain deaf and blind as soon as possible, ond'evitar of attending some havoc.

.

This manovalanza acquired in such shopping campaigns to prevent the extinction of certain congregations, although no time, almost always it has also been particularly expensive, with implications far from clean. Many of these congregations, the acquisition of certain religious, They have paid and are continuing to pay with the economic maintenance of all the families of the nuns. To this are then added to the depredations of the sisters themselves, They just could have seized money from the speakers or the resources of religious communities, to send to their relatives in their countries of origin. Repeatedly, these sisters, always at the expense of the community they have brought their brothers and sisters in Europe, forcing the congregation to provide for their accommodation, including that of brothers and nephews anything but willing to work, Why, in some African countries and cultures, to work is the woman, not the man. It's here, to prevent the polyphonic choir of politically correct souls ready to cheer At racist, the racist! Part, steps to the complaint, it is good to remain silent about the nationality of some of these African men, allergic to such point to the work that, if one day encounter the person who invented the job, would not hesitate to kill barrel. I refer of course to those who, although not to work, They prefer much more to bring their wives and their daughters into prostitution on the streets of our cities, Finally exercising their job: pull his pocket money then when they go to take them back at the end of their service.

.

After the wave of African and Brazilian, It has come below that of Indian. In that case we met several times before really young pretty girls. And when a very beautiful European girl became a nun, This was almost always a sign of a particular vocation and solid, because if he wanted, He would have pleased and happy life when you choose the best husband that she could choose, because it has always, female beauty, It is an asset that can produce excellent weddings.

.

The recruitment drive indiana It does not however take into account one thing, or rather he did not want to take them into account: in most parts of India, if a family does not have the money necessary to constitute a dowry to his daughter, this, It was also a pearl of rare beauty, can not marry. And girls who can not get married, often they choose between two different trades: be prostitutes in Calcutta, or to the nuns. And between the two choices, Many rightly choose the second option.

.

The superiors general of the congregations who have done shopping campaigns in India, If they want to tell us what happened, those girls so beautiful but so poor, free for this wedding dowry, when they arrived nuns in Italy? Well, given that most priests are liars only the nuns, knowing that such a question would remain unanswered or otherwise be processed with a response of all false, the truth will be better for you to narrate I: most of these beautiful girls, arrived in Italy or other European countries, shortly after they found a man that if he married is treating them as authentic queens. Indeed, for the Italian man, and in general for European men, a young woman, beautiful and above all with the femininity now-lost many of our tomboys women only able to place themselves in a professional and social competition with men, is a wealth that is priceless. That's where many of the beautiful girls are over, arrived in Italy as nuns, in response to shopping campaigns by many dying religious congregations who are breathing their last breaths thanks to the New Pentecost.

.

SOON we will witness the BIGGEST SALE OF THE RELIGIOUS HERITAGE

.

Many religious congregations have large real estate portfolios. Numerous possess great stable and of great historical and artistic value, They possess other large buildings that were once kindergartens, schools, education institutions and colleges. Turning to the only Roma, It is visible for all to see that already many of these buildings have been transformed into shelters or hotels, other leased or sold to private. Naturally, and especially coming from the historic centers of large cities, it will not be possible to convert all these facilities in hotels or in prestigious locations representative offices of private companies or freelancers with the parcels to six zeros. Therefore, Most of these assets, They are intended to be sold off in a short time. So that, within a short time, We witness the most colossal sellout of religious Real Estate. Perhaps, businessmen and various vultures, They have already done their accounts, or maybe, with cold lucidity, They have already done the project to divide the pie among various real estate companies and groups of individuals and wealthy businessmen.

.

To this figure, or if you prefer at this tragic chronicle of death foretold, unite all the complications arising from nefarious shopping campaigns. Example: There are religious congregations who for many decades, if not for centuries, we are dedicated to childhood education or the management of secondary schools are characterized by the high quality of training. These institutions, for greater, They were holding up thanks to the nuns who were all of them teachers; to be fair, They were also some of great teachers and high level. During the New Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, instead fill vocations novitiates, But it seems that for inscrutable mystery of grace has emptied them, while in, the nuns, over time grew old. Thanks to recruitment drive several congregations managed to survive by acquiring a number of African and Indian nuns, which however, far from graduates and far from perfectly juggle in the Italian language, They had little training school and they could not speak the Italian language, So imagine if you could replace their older sisters in school education. A quel point, if it was possible, the institute was changed into a hotel in which today, a group of young African and Indian nuns, do the maids, while the few surviving old Italian will step forward to run and manage as long as they will live as long or will the whole administration. Request: what's going to happen, When elderly Italian nuns die and these institutions, with related assets, They will end up in the hands of the fruit of the wicked recruitment drive? Because tomorrow, the so-called "proprietary completely", They will be groups of foreign Sisters of low culture, without proper instruction, with some knowledge of the Italian language and so to follow.

.

Given that the current nuns have always tried to stay away, as I believe it is good to stay away from the corpses put in the morgue refrigerator cells awaiting you some free place for their burial in the cemetery overcrowded, in my own priestly ministry and pastoral experience I can say that I have known in Italy only a handful of African and Asian sisters with deep training and professional skills. For instance: I remember some Indian sisters in one of the best clinics in Rome, owned and run by the congregation of these religious, are professional nurses who all surgeons operating in that structure always try to get as close to the operating room assistants, because they are of an extraordinary talent. But we must note that these Indian nuns are native state of Kerala, where the Christian culture is very ancient and where that particular church boasts its apostolic foundation, occurred in the year 52 D.C.. Apostle Thomas to work. And for culture and ancient Christian tradition, religious Kerala are totally different from those of other religious region of India which are vegetarian and do not eat meat for fear of being able to feed some of their ancestor reincarnated as a cow or a calf. Also in Rome, I met an outstanding Filipino nun, Today almost seventy, arrived in Italy just nineteen years of age, who for years he was a teacher and principal of a middle school run by his religious congregation. In addition to his hard work and for her extraordinary capacity for work, this religious speaks Italian as a true native speaker, he received at the time the degree in letters and has been for nearly forty years a very good teacher and then principal of the school teaching. Even in this case, But, we're talking about a woman born in the Philippines, where Catholicism was not brought a few decades ago, but it has a history of more than five hundred years, however it characterized by a Catholic population particularly linked to the Christian faith and deeply devoted to Rome. Different story but completely analogous to that of the Philippine nun, that of a Congolese nun who juggles a perfect Italian and speaks English beautifully, French and Spanish. This religion of Congolese origin comes from an old family being Catholic for generations and that he decided to become a nun when, with a scholarship, He came little more than eighteen years in Rome to carry out their university studies, after studying for four years at the Italian High School in his hometown, He is having planned her parents to send her to study in the European metropolis which they consider the great world capital of Christendom. And here we note that the evangelization of Congo got underway in the late fifteenth century, while the early seventeenth century, the Jesuits established in that country the institution of the Holy Savior, that will train for years to follow the classes Congolese leaders, while in the mid-seventeenth century came the Capuchin Friars Minor, which he was instead given the task to educate and assist the local clergy in the erection of parishes.

.

Subject to the exceptions and without fear that the polyphonic choir of political correctness gives startup hymn At racist, the racist! The products of these shopping campaigns, in addition to the large number of Indian sisters landed the religious life because without dowries and thus the fundamental means to marry, was the introduction in many religious congregations of many Sisters from various African countries recently evangelized, become Christian by teenagers, lack a deep Christian formation and without adequate religious formation due to their own lack of Christian education, steeped in animism, He is suffering from quite a few superstitions and in fact tied to ancestral cults AGAIN. When old Italian nuns who now govern the day their lives with his teeth, and on the other they continue to hold and manage these congregations, will fail, what will happen to these institutions, including their assets often substantial sums, when everything will be in the hands of the products of unhappy campaign purchases?

.

It WAS BETTER IN PERIOD BEFORE THE COUNCIL OF TRENT MONASTERI WHEN MANY WERE THE AUTHENTIC brothels

.

The fruits produced by New Pentecost, or as others say "to input that air spring in the closets too long closed the Holy Church of God", They are those that we can see: are fruits that have produced a religious crisis in women's institutions as he had never seen before. After all we have planted a tree that was to be the most beautiful and lush garden, and although in fact it is not, there are those who declares him to be, throwing all the lightning and thunderbolts ostracism towards anyone who dares to indicate that the tree is ugly and sick. Yet the Holy Gospel, through the words of Christ the Lord, It teaches us how to recognize trees:

.

"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is known by its own fruit: They do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. The good person out of the good from the good treasure of his heart; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil, For the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart " [LC 6, 43-45].

.

We should therefore ask ourselves: If the tree has grown crooked and the fruits from it data have died before they even sprout, it may be that both the plant it has in it grow, something went wrong?

.

Vatican II was a council of the Church, to be exact XXI, was neither a super-council or the council of councils. But most of all, as he explained the Venerable Pope Benedict XVI, Vatican II can not be turned into a kind of superdogma. This concept was taken up by the Supreme Pontiff 14 February of 2013, three days after making withdrawal from the holy throne. In his speech to the Roman clergy, Benedict XVI clearly admits that rages in the Church a serious crisis of doctrinal and moral order, attributing it to both the para-council celebrated by theologians on the columns of the newspapers, both post-conciliar:

.

«[…] We know how this council of media It is accessible to all. So, This was the dominant one, more efficient, and it has created many disasters, many problems, really so much misery: seminars closed, convents closed, liturgy banal ... and the true Council has struggled to materialize, to be realized; the virtual council was stronger than the real Council […]» [full text, WHO].

.

In the mid-sixties it was announced the arrival of new springtime of the Church, to the test of the facts we have instead plunged into one of the worst Siberian winters, or as I wrote in my article two years ago: we are the new Roman Empire. [see text WHO].

.

As I explained during my writing, after the Council of Trent, we have seen a great revival of the Church together with great missionary activity, all placed in the history of the sixteenth century was a century of great reformers and great Saints. Even despite, The Council of Trent did not DeBello all the malpractices, and several centuries away many of its fundamental rules were not yet applied everywhere, or were only partially applied.

In conclusion, therefore, with the initial paradigm of as direct Stolta who claimed: "Know we can not go back to the dark times of the Council of Trent!», as a last conclusive answer I think I can replicate that in terms of women's religious life, perhaps it would be better to go back to the period before the Council of Trent, when many monasteries were reduced to authentic brothels. Do not forget that in them, in addition to become nuns such compulsion, there were also Sante that as good wheat lived side by side with the weeds [cf. Mt 13, 27-30], because as the Apostle teaches Beato: "Where sin increased, abounded grace » [RM 5, 20]. And the end is worth reiterating that the great reformer and Santa Teresa of Avila was born in this kind of dissolute populated monasteries of nuns, becoming what it has become and producing the fruit that produced.

.

Today this is not possible, because we are no longer talking about wheat and weeds that live together and which should be left together to avoid the risk of destroying even a single ear of good wheat; Today we are facing the corpse of women religious place inside the refrigerated morgue to prevent it from decomposing. And the state of grace, as known, abounds also and above all in the worst sin, but on living bodies, not on the dead bodies. But no one can pronounce it on a corpse formula: "I baptize you…», or "I absolve you from your sins", less so you can give the Holy Eucharist in the mouth of a dead saying the inanimate corpse "The Body of Christ".

.

But this, the as direct Stolta with the hair blowing in the wind and the half-leg skirt, abbeveratasi the post-council created by the para-council, He does not know, like all people who live unconscious and irresponsible with the idea of a spring under the winter frost of the glacial temperatures of Siberia. Because the trees, beautiful and lush, they are for the fruits that give, not for the fruits but not given to us in any case imagined. Faith is not based on ideological emotions but on facts, for as sure what he preached one of the great teachers of the school, Sant'Anselmo d'Aosta: faith seeking understanding, understanding seeking faith [Faith requires reason, the reason requires faith]. Fantasy and Illusion, are not fundamental elements of our faith, but elements of destruction of faith, because by removing the great light of reason which produces works and which is a gift of admirable grace of the Holy Spirit, then comes to life a pseudo Christianity based on the sentimental and sull'emotivo. And so, you pass from Christianity to neo-paganism, to Gnosticism, if not worse: to atheism. In fact, "faith, if it has no works, He is dead in itself […] show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith " [Ge 2 1, 17-18]. Here is the fundamental question of which many terrible, too many, must make God seriously: what were the fruits of the work and what kind of faith have produced? In fact these fruits that we will be recognized and then judged by God, because "wisdom is vindicated by her works" [Mt 11, 19].

Dear brothers and sisters,

.

Saint Raymond of Peñafort, patron of jurists and faculties of canon law, who according to the pious legend crosses the waters on his cloak as a Dominican friar

The Liturgy of the Word of this third Sunday of the ordinary temo [cf. Born 8, 2-4.5-6.8-10; Shall 18; 1 Color 12,12-30; LC 1,1-4; 4,14-21, readable texts, WHO], It recalled to my mind the memory of when for the first time I was on a ship. It was a ferry that carried from Naples to the island of Ischia. I also remember the presence of the crew: there was the ordinary seaman, the attendant to passengers, those responsible for the kitchen, the ship's doctor and finally, obviously, also the ship's captain and his assistants. Each had a very specific and distinct task, but all, at the same time, they had a single purpose: lead ship in the port of Ischia.

.

This example of diversity and unity it is also the theme of today's readings. In the first reading from the Old Testament we listened:

.

«Ezra opened the book in the presence of all the people. […] The Levites were reading the book of the law of God, translating and explaining the way, and in this way they made reading understandable " [Born 8, 4 – 6] .

.

This book being explained it is the Mosaic Law that the Jews had received through Moses at Sinai. So both Ezra, prophet, that the Levites, the priests make clear something that God had revealed to him but that he needed clarification. In that passage we also know that is announced a day consecrated to the Lord. So, the work of the prophets and Jewish Levites was almost show the existence of a time dedicated to God. Levites and prophets, so, They have a specific task: make clear and live the message of God.

.

The second reading also focuses on this when St. Paul writing to the Corinthians affirms:

.

“God has arranged the members of the body in a distinct way, as he wanted " [1 Color 1,14]

.

So here it is confirmed this is the Lord himself who wants a certain distinction and diversity within the People of God. From the first two readings we also learn that the Lord asks us to learn in our place. Being able to understand what are their gifts and put them at the service of the whole ecclesial community without being selfish is the greatest act of humility. It is in fact God Himself to call every single person in a specific task: those to religious life or priesthood, those at the wedding, as a primary distinction.

.

The beginning of the Gospel of Luke it specifies one of the common tasks that Jesus entrusted to the whole Church. We read:

«Jesus returned to Galilee […] He taught in their synagogues and they praised him " [LC 4,14]

.

To teach or explain the word of God, or indeed the content of our faith is the task that we all believers receive from Jesus. Of course, in the first place we ministers, in a homily or in the daily catechetical. But the laity. In particular those who live the faith in the world, together with his sons and his family, can not only with the explanation of what he believes, also bear witness to the beauty of faith in God. A faith that is alive meeting, tender and real with Jesus Christ. In tal modo, by clarifying what we believe and hope that the Lord has given us, can we allow faith becomes love of charity. So to offer a knowledge of God let's give a loving God and our neighbor concretely. We can say with the Lord:

.

"Today this Scripture has been fulfilled that you have heard".

.

Like this, really, It also unveiled some’ of that great mystery of the Triune God who loves us, with the authority of a Father, with the beauty of the Son and of the Holy Spirit motherhood. It will be really the most beautiful and intense caress that we can give to those we love, or who does not feel loved by anyone.

.

Explain and show our faith so it does not get in the chair, It is not filled with pride, but first of all to love with an act of deep love and tender and generate the union of all men with God. As she is written by the painter Eugene Delacroix in his diary, where it expresses that in God we can all become the great writers and artists of the unity of Love:

.

"The feeling of unity and the power to realize it in the work make the great writer and the great artist".

.

Amen.

It always affects of sad to see Christians, He was always struck. In the same way, it strikes me to see sullen priests and religious people. sad clown …

With this new article I will start a cycle of reflections on the most dangerous spiritual illnesses for the life of a Christian. As always I want to quote the Word of God, taking as inspiration a Gospel passage that I've got to also mention other times in my writings on our Patmos Island:

.

"And here, in that very day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, at about eleven kilometers from Jerusalem, and they are talking with each other about all that had happened. While they are conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him " [cf. LC 24,13-16].

.

In verse 16 it is evident a certain blindness heart and mind, this means that there is something in these two disciples that prevents them from recognizing the risen Lord. There are indeed some soul diseases that separate us from Christ and that prevent us from doing our novelty of the Gospel for this to transform our lives and that of others. It is therefore in these terms that I wish present the first spiritual sickness: the sadness.

.

It always affects of sad to see Christians, He was always struck. In the same way, it strikes me to see sullen priests and religious people. This is because it is a blatant contradiction in those who should announce the Easter. When he celebrates Mass, when I drive a prayer, or when you simply walk into a church, I like to stop and observe people. I observe that I too, I need encouragement from those who live a strong faith and have an intimate relationship with God. And while often orsservo, here ... long faces!

.

sad clown …

Let us first understand a thing: qT his kind of sadness is not given by the reverses of life that inevitably we all find support. The sadness of which I speak, It is mixed with resignation, It is a sadness that is often despair, depression, static, docility which - as we want with mystical masks and sliced air holiness - always emerges afloat.

.

The Christian can only be described if not within the joy, was created for the joy and the same redemption by Christ - albeit accompanied by inevitable tragedy of the Passion - it not ends with Good Friday but with the Sunday of the Resurrection expression of joy that wins over death. The vivid representation of the joy of Christ and the disciples, that the early Christians, It emerges from the Gospel of St. John the Apostle, indicated by the great Fathers of the Church and by the exegetes, also as "The Gospel of joy».

.

The most credible sign of a Christian It should be just what joy, the intimate joy of living for God and his company; the deep joy of being able to present to the Father every moment of our day and be sure to feel loved, included, forgiven and healed intimately. For this mi often like to quote a passage from the homily for Christmas Pope St. Leo the Great says that: «Recognize your dignity, oh Christian». That is, we are called to re-know each other again, to become aware of our identity, realize again who we are as believers. Every Christian life - thus the mine and yours - is life in which Christ lives, opera, but, pray, hope, suffers, He relies on Father.

.

sad clown …

The Christian life is a life of communion where the relationship with Jesus is present: here is my dignity, here is my joy! On the contrary, facendo however room for sadness, I put in the shade the presence of Jesus living in me and I go often with only my strength that I check to be inadequate. Moreover, This attitude of spiritual melancholy is reinforced by statements like: "We are born to suffer !», "I'm not worth anything, What can I ever do any good?», "I have zero, God is everything ", "We are in God's hands, we can not do anything ", "I deserve to suffer because of my sins, God rightly punishes me". All these ways of thought of “Christians”, pose a serious down payment on the joy that God wants for her children, Christ merited for us with his resurrection and that the Holy Spirit constantly pours into our hearts as a free gift.

.

This shadowy situation it is often the result of our low spiritual self-esteem and a very bad or absent spiritual and catechetical formation. I'll explain …

.

… Spiritual self-esteem is the awareness of the value which every person attaches to itself in relation to the person of God, the attitude that everyone is against it as a loved one, accepted and valued by God. This spiritual self-esteem in part depends on us and our experience of God, in part it depends on those who educated us in the faith so that we could feel loved and worthy Christians. Having a low self-esteem is also the spiritual image of God index that we have cultivated. We can perceive God as an accountant, he who marks his notebook our mistakes and flaws ready to make us pay the bill. We can perceive God as the dictator who deprives us of the joy and only asks us to sacrifices, we can get the idea of God as a symbol of efficiency that wants all perfecting without the possibility of making a mistake or show weakness. Or we tested the idea of God as a con man who promises everything and keeps nothing, or the idea of God's vindictive judge who likes to punish and chastise the man to show his strength.

.

sad clown …

All these images of God They are indicative of pathological way in which Christians perceive ourselves and the way we live style of the Gospel within our religious communities. E cOn these assumptions, you create a serious risk of a problematic spiritual self-esteem.

.

It may happen that as Christians we tend not to look at the positive aspects of our lives, denying or not seeing the good that God works in us. It seems more natural to consider the downsides disconsolate and cry about our miseries. Even some religious education, guided by a false and deviated concept of humility, He has led us to feel guilty every time we talk about our quality and that is beautiful and holy we are living in relationship with God.

.

The confession of praise, that is, the manifestation of the nice things – and therefore of the joy – that the Lord brings into my life is essential to make the sadness disappear once and for all. That's why during the sacramental confession, even before the prosecution of sins, you need to show to the priest, the joyful reality of which I have to give thanks to God.

.

The Holy Scripture and the most authentic Christian anthropology They tell us that man is not a being negative, lost and dejected. There is a deep-rooted optimism that sees positively the man and this derives from union with God who gives beauty, comfort, dignity and makes the face of the Son continually shine on every created reality. Man is created not only in the good and in the infinite love of God, but is structured as actually very good [cf. GN 1,31] and as a positive reality which has its model in Jesus Lord of the world [cf. With the 1,16-17]. Not even the first disobedience [cf. GN 3] He manages to undermine the respect and the love that God feels for man, so as to continue to evaluate its creature with a personal act of love and care. For this reason, the height of the drama of original sin, man receives also the promise of redemption and he is given a new dress that can give him dignity and value [cf. GN 3,15; 21].

.

sad clown …

In the history of the people of Israel God always helps the man so that nothing detracts from its value, its certainty of being loved. Neither the arrogance of the Pharaoh of Egypt, nor hunger and thirst in the desert, or sickness, obstinacy and murmuring manage to convince God to reject and disesteem man created very good. It is not external things – good or bad – that determine our value as Christians, It's not what people say about me that makes me a better or worse Christian, it is the value I have for God that makes me lovable.

.

In the wake of this thought, psychologist James Bugental states that our true identity does not lie outside of ourselves, it must not be sought in external confirmations, in external security. Our true identity, we can find our treasure by digging in the field of our soul, deep within ourselves: place where God takes up residence and reveals himself in joy.

.

It is in this shrine that I can find the original image that God intended for me, the original word that God pronounced when creating me and which is capable of giving meaning and joy to an entire life, even the most ruined and apparently useless one.

Give the worst wine when everyone is already drunk at the wedding at Cana

L'Angolo di Girolamo Savonarola: Catholic homiletics in lean times

GIVE THE WORST WINE WHEN EVERYONE IS DRUNK AT THE CANA WEDDING

.

If we want to be honest, in the original text of John, Jesus did not specifically say: "Everyone put on the table at the start and good wine, when you are already drunk a lot, an inferior one ". The phrase translated into Italian is faithful undoubtedly, but Jesus, to be precise, He does not say "when you are already drunk a lot" but says, "When everyone is already drunk puts on the table the worst wine".

The drunk in taverns Brouwer scenes [Author: Adriaen Brouwer, Flemish painter, 1605 circa]

What the Apostle John offered in this IIª Sunday in Ordinary Time [see text WHO] It is a gospel that encompasses many peculiarities. First John is an eyewitness, Active in the narrated events.

.

Before that even in modern exegesis exploded a certain form of "real socialism", not afraid to call John, "the disciple whom Jesus loved", "The beloved disciple". Fondness canceled by some interpreters present in it have almost wanted to read a "divine contradiction", ruling that preference is bad, because to God we are all equal. What is not true, because to God we are all different and all unique in our precious diversity. Moreover, the preference, or healthy predilection, It is not at all a synonym of injustice, especially with careful balance we prefer those who deserve it. And God made man, we have to somehow recognize both prudence is the balance, human and divine, pace of modern exegetes and interpreters. Therefore, in preference humanly, Christian and lovingly understood, there is nothing untoward.

.

What John is a particular Gospel, first of all because it comes from the story of an Apostle who had a very direct contact with the Lord, whose predilection was able to enjoy. And if anyone would still doubt the understandable human and divine predilection, divine and human of the Lord to John, one need only reflect on a phrase that leaves no room for doubt. Under the Cross, before expiring, Jesus "Seeing his mother, and beside her the disciple whom he loved, He told his mother: “Donna, here is your son!”. Then he said to the disciple: “Here is your mother!”. And from that hour the disciple took her into his " [GV 19, 26-27].

.

Jesus entrusts to this young man, little more than a boy, the one who allowed the Word became flesh, the Vergine Maria; and entrusts to him, not least because, Meanwhile, others had fled, keeping at a prudent distance from the cross.

.

So are the facts, narrates the historicity of the Gospels, I'm not a collection of "metaphors" to interpret beyond the facts "merely symbolic", or as some scholars say: by de-mythologizing carefully. The Gospels contain true events, to read and understand. The Gospels are not symbolic tales, because internally they contain a precise and at times flawless historicity.

.

Much could be said about images of the wedding at Cana, where the true bridegroom is Christ and where Mary, sitting at the banquet, It is the mother of the Church which wed with the Lamb Immolated. And in this feast Jesus, changing water into wine, offers man a true and full transformation through the action of divine grace of the Holy Spirit. It's still, the nectar of the vine, then end up becoming blood of Christ, which will be with the Eucharistic Sacrifice element bread, alive and holy memorial.

.

At the end of this Gospel passage, Giovanni specifies: "This, in Cana of Galilee, It was the beginning of the signs performed by Jesus ». In John's Gospel abound "signs" narrated and used to guide the people to faith in Christ. That accomplished in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs, or rather a prototype that anticipates in its own way the whole series "signs" following, to grasp, read and interpret the wake of the sign at Cana in Galilee: healed the paralytic by the pool of the Sheep Gate [cf. GV 5, 19], healing the sick son of the royal official at Capernaum [cf. GV 4, 46-54], the healing of the man born blind [cf. GV 9, 1-40], the multiplication of the loaves [cf. GV 6, 1-13] Jesus walking on rough waters to the disciples on the boat [cf. GV 9, 16-21], the resurrection of Lazarus [cf. GV 11, 1-44].

.

Obviously we are used to read the Gospels in our current language. But this should not lead us to forget the fact that the languages in which we listen to them today are translations of the original texts of the Gospels, in which are often scattered words are not easy to translate from the original writing language to our modern languages. We have to note that what John - who writes in Greek twenty centuries ago - does not use, like other evangelists, the term tέraton, which means prodigy, or better wine miracle; John uses the term shmeίwn, which means sign. Then if we want to be honest, in the original text of John, the man who ran the banquet, to be exact it does not say to Jesus: "Everyone put on the table at the start and good wine, when you are already drunk a lot, an inferior one ". The phrase translated into Italian is faithful undoubtedly, But, to be precise, He does not say "when you are already drunk a lot" but says otan mequsqwsin ton elassw, which literally means: "When everyone is already drunk puts on the table the worst wine".

.

In the Gospel of John the “sign” is an act of grace clearly visible that Jesus fulfills the pedagogical purpose to lead the faithful to the gradual penetration of a higher reality that the senses can not perceive, but that can seize.

.

John uses the term “signs” the plural because it does not intend to be limited to the miracles performed by Jesus, because all the actions of Christ are signs that lead to faith and in their own way they want to lead us to faith. An example is the miracle of miracles summed up by John in the monumental prologue of his Gospel, which begins with the words: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God". Then to come through this crescendo of truth of faith to the announcement of the most unthinkable of miracles: "And the Word became flesh", the mystery of God made man. Mystery before which the author of the Letter to the Hebrews says that "Faith is the assurance of things hoped the conviction of things unseen" [CF. EB 11,1]. For John, the sign is thus a visible element that leads to the invisible, because faith is a sign of the invisible world, the reality of God. This is why the Gospel of John ends with these words: "Jesus did many other signs … these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ " [GV 20,30-31].

.

No one today, directing the eternal wedding feast of Christ with his Church can never say: "You have kept the good wine aside so far", because after the incarnation, the life, the death and resurrection of Christ, we have been given good wine until his return to the end of time, because "The groom" Christ "is the one to whom belongs the bride» [GV 3, 29]. The bridegroom is Christ head of the body which is the Church [cf. With the 1,18], and every day, through the mystery of his body and his blood alive, real presence among us, we celebrate the marriage of the lamb, Christ, with his bride, the church.

Quirino IESO, The baptism of Jesus, 1996 – cm. 50X100, in a private collection

Even in the Baptism of the Lord, it constitutes a solemn epiphany, a large demonstration, through which always it proves better the identity and the public role of Jesus.

.

In the Gospel passage of this feast, the revelation of divinity reaches its climax, because we see the presence of all three divine persons.

.

It is the Father who reveals the Son as the beloved [cf. LC 3,22] and in this love of predilection certification [cf. Shall 45,3] goes down, of Jesus in prayer, the Holy Spirit as a seal and definitive word.

.

The feast of the Baptism of the Lord can only confirm - if it were still needed - that divine love is communicated to man only through the mediation of the person of Christ.

No other mediators exist, other saviors or pontiffs capable of leading man to God. Jesus immersing - through baptism in the Jordan - into the human tissue, accompanies me to enjoy the true divine solidarity that takes on man's poverty and sin which is the real reason why the separation from the Father occurs.

.

Indeed, the poor authentic is not identifiable with the beggar, the miserable and the marginalized, but with the orphan. With the one who is deprived and forgetful of family prerogatives. The poor, He is one who ignores its origins and, because of this, can not access a paternal affection.

.

I am convinced more than ever that today's human poverty is not the exclusive result of a sociological or political flaw, but above all identity. In a world that has forgotten its divine origins and the love that God the Father tries continuously to every creature, the result can only be the drift of identity that leads to abandonment and generates orphans. The Christian, But, It is not an orphan, but in Christ is constituted firstborn, son in the Son.

.

This speech It is explained in a different way also Evangelist Matthew, that in his genealogy [cf. Mt 1,1-16] see the recapitulation of human history - made of light and shade - just from the person of the Word.

.

The baptism of Jesus It is dipping in the weak human history; Baptism man is dipping into robust divine sonship that Christ gets us with his passion, Death and Resurrection.

.

Now let's go down to the concrete of our daily: every day - when I get up from bed - God the Father through Jesus tells me her preferential love. Understand this well is essential, because God never rejects any of his creatures!

.

If I have a favorite from the Lord - a beloved son - this knowledge revolutionizes all my person and my actions: my being and my moral.

.

Moreover, preferential love that God pours into me, She shines the presence of the Holy Spirit who guides me and directs them toward a life of intimacy with God that I can only find out in prayer. It is the example of Jesus praying constantly, through continued dialogue, to join the Father through the loving presence of the Holy Spirit [cf. Mt 26,39; MC 1,35; LC 9,29].

.

It is the example of the saints pointing in assiduous prayer the certainty of salvation: "Who prays is saved, who does not pray is lost ' [cf. Sant’ Alphonsus Maria de 'Liguori].

.

Today it is necessary in the world a Christian presence who knows better his filial identity with God and cultivate a prayerful dialogue with him.

.

It is not permissible to sell off this dignity that Christ won for us, in politically correct name, mundane logics, of an undefined universal love, a religious globalization which means leveling everything and everyone.

.

Baptism of the Lord, screams the truth of our origins and invites us to cash in on the spiritual legacy that is the good life of the Gospel.

.

Celebrating annually the baptism of Jesus It means to celebrate and remember them by their Baptism and infinitely thank God, our parents and our sponsors for leading us to the baptismal font.

.

In baptism we are given to us all grace and we are programmed us a life that looks at its definitive fulfillment in Paradise. While waiting for the fulfillment of our blessed hope, the baptized person lives in the world once cairologico consolation [cf. Is 40,1] which bear witness to what it means to legitimate offspring.

.

By learning filial identity in close relationship with God, the man also will learn to be father and mother of a generation of men able to give thanks to the Lord and to open up to the praise of the Spirit that will make us sing: «Bless the Lord, my soul» [cf. Shall 103].
