Lately I've been reading several theological proclamations around the net. A little’ it's my fault, because I'm a cyber preacher friar, so cyber teologo who surfs the net and often comes across rather strange theological theories. I tend to let it go, because they are funny theories and I read them with the aim of laughing a little’ after a day of preaching or academic research.

Recently some bizarre theories of the “legions of misunderstood only bearers of the true Catholic faith, apostolic, romana ”have raised doubts even in the most devoted and balanced lay faithful. Therefore I thank these halberdiers who are the only holders of the Catholic faith, because they provided me with a assist to make a brief review of ecclesiology and to provide genuine reflections on a theme that perhaps has escaped a bit’ out of hand; precisely for this reason it can be proposed to those who perhaps want to deepen it for the first time. The theme in question is the sense of the faithful.

With this Latin meaning, translatable into "the sense of the faithful", it means the feeling of all the faithful, that is, their subjective faith and therefore their reaction on the arguments of the faith proposed by the bishops or by the pope or by a council that are expressed in the Magisterium. Now, according to the halberdiers of the authentic faith, I would be a liar and an ignoramus on this issue. But it gets worse: I would lie not knowing that I lie. So it was necessary that these super masters, a great day, the sleeves had to be rolled up, get on the chair of their personal blog, take their virtual chalk and write on the smart-saccenza blackboard to explain to me that the sense of the faithful has an almost genuine role in the interpretation of the Magisterium and its development. This consideration is the foundation for one of the halberdiers to be able to claim that, in all this genuineness, his sense of the faithful it almost played a fundamental decisive role also in the evaluation of the acts of the ordinary magisterium of Pope Francis, such that rejecting them all together would be - listen, hear! - a prudential act, because all those who obey the Pope would do nothing but align themselves with anti-Catholic positions.

These sentences thus written they can mean everything and the opposite of everything. Also the reference to the magisterium of the Second Vatican Council, cited several times both in this case and in various telematic exchanges, it is so labile that it seems non-existent. In short, the basic ambiguity of the cybernetic theologians halberdiers of the true faith consists precisely in avoiding defining precisely what the sense of the faithful. Subsequently, this non-concept is filled with subjective interpretations e, at least for what I read on the net, charged with a certain feeling of defiance and distrust towards the ecclesiastical authorities when they exercise the authentic or ordinary magisterium. Therefore the cat-space halberdiers venture into theological and liturgical interpretations vitiated by fallacies and basic prejudices, gives real anti-dogmas. The basic theory, in conclusion, it seems to be the one for which a group of faithful is enough, also conspicuous, that strong in their being fully faithful to the Church and exercising a correct one sense of the faithful, only for this reason should they be able to correctly offer the correct analysis of the Magisterium documents, even to establish in a definitive and no longer questionable form, which document of the Roman Pontiff is of the ordinary Magisterium, extraordinary and authentic and which is not.

Theologians still debate these issues today, trying to understand the value of a certain papal and conciliar document, ma, net of a few exasperations, they would hardly proclaim their personal views as absolutely true and authentic, and starting from these to proclaim oneself i Catholics, apostolic, Romans than their opponents who would be incompetent, of heretics who understand nothing. In short, without the halberdiers even noticing: we are in the liberal democratic system of the parliamentary republic, complete with majority elections and proactive and abrogative referendums. Only the solemn formula is missing: "In the Church, sovereignty belongs to the People who delegate it to the Supreme Pastor and to the bishops".

I also add that clearly, in today's world where freedom comes before any other right, everyone thinks and says what they want, nonsense and falsehoods included. The right to say and think nonsense about the Catholic faith is one of those inalienable rights approved and even encouraged by the secularist and atheist culture. Halberdiers too, on this liquid and secular line, they say and think what they want. I take the liberty of asking him: for case, on your sites, you are organizing the fair and the supercazzole contest and you are competing for the first place? This is just to clarify, because I would gladly leave it there without any doubt.

The introductory irony phase is over (which I took from reading the splendid Adverse Heresies of Sant’Ireneo, neo-doctor of the Church), I pass a bit’ to clarify to the faithful Catholic faithful what is meant by sense of the faithful which they too have and offer to the Church as a service and path in truth.

Già San John Henry Newman he had dedicated a theological essay on this subject entitled «On the consultation of the faithful in matters of doctrine». The English saint and theologian, careful student of the fathers and of the history of the ancient Church, shows some heroic examples of faithful groups who in their sense of faith transmitted and preached the correct faith; this especially in the very first centuries, these faithful, resisting Arianism, until martyrdom, they rebelled against bishops and priests opposed to the Nicene doctrine. And here is already that the aforementioned halberdiers will be there to rub their hands, grinning in front of the screen and saying “Ah! You see I was right?”.

Obviously the meaning of Newman's study - converted to Catholicism in 1843 - was that of a Catholic theologian who wanted to provide dignity to the conscience and coherent profession of the entire body of the faithful, and therefore also of the laity. Why in fact write an essay of controversy towards the Roman Church, see Newman yes 16 years he was an attentive apologist and scholar of the sources of the faith, in an Anglican environment always ready to criticize him and hopeful to see him return Anglican again to prove the absurdity of Roman Catholicism?[1] And above all, why never offer arguments contrary to priestly authority and its teaching within the Roman see, even if Newman himself after his conversion had been validly consecrated a Catholic priest 12 years before that essay? The answer must obviously be sought in the words of the author himself, when it states: "There is no doubt that in this case they were not asked for advice, opinions and judgments, but we only wanted to ascertain a factual situation, that is, their beliefs were used as a testimony of that apostolic tradition on which alone any doctrinal definition can be based "[2]. What Newman then points out is that:

«By saying this, so, I am certainly not denying that most bishops were Orthodox in their internal beliefs; nor that there was a certain number of clergy who stood alongside the laity and acted as their centers and guides; nor that the laity actually received their faith, in the first instance, by bishops and clergy; nor that some portions of the laity were ignorant and other portions eventually corrupted by the Aryan masters, who took possession of the seats and ordained a heretical clergy; but I still want to say that in that time of immense confusion the divine dogma of our Lord's divinity was proclaimed, applied, maintained and (humanly speaking) preserved, much more from the Church of the learned that from church docent; that the body of the episcopate was unfaithful to his office, while the body of the laity was faithful to his baptism; that the Pope, sometimes, the patriarch, the metropolitan and other large offices, sometimes the general councils, they said what they shouldn't have said, or they did what obscured and compromised the revealed truth; while, other parte, it was the Christian people who, under Providence, it was the ecclesiastical strength of Athanasius, Ilario, Eusebio di Vercelli and other great solitary confessors, that without them they would have failed "[3].

I still imagine halberdiers rubbing hands again, squeak louder than before “Ah! I am still right so now I will make the act of faith to fill in the social and all my speeches of insults and rude responses against those post-council pretexts!" What to say: a person who can be said to be sufficiently familiar with the basis of the history of the Church knows very well that over the centuries there have also been popes, bishops and cardinals who have not always behaved in the odor of sanctity, rather, not a few have had reprehensible moral conduct. Sometimes even at the level of exercising their role as pastors they have not been perfect, or to be honest: they were real disasters as far as making concrete decisions e, in some cases, also in the ways of communicating some important dogmas of our faith, what this of which the Supreme Pontiff Honorius I and the Monothelite question of 634 it was a classic example.

All these examples in no way can they be adduced as evidence of a certain superiority of the sense of the faithful with respect to the ordinary Magisterium. Indeed, those that Newman quotes and that I take back, they are pastoral choices and ways of life that are absolutely deplorable; but the English theologian acknowledges that, beyond these reprehensible actions, the faithful are formed in the faith by the overwhelming majority of priests, bishops and popes who are wholly orthodox to the correct doctrine of dual nature. Because in their consecration the bishops received the character of the fullness of the apostolic priesthood, hence the state grace that allows him to express himself, under certain conditions, places and times, as authentic and certain teachers of the faith. The imposition of hands that the sacred order confers does not confer an aura of holiness and preservation from future very serious sins, it was not even a sort of sacramental space shield that parried any kind of moral and spiritual imperfection. Therefore these teachers of the faith need at the same time to consult the faithful, because clergy and faithful together contribute to the development and knowledge of Catholic dogma and doctrine. Newman himself - in spite of the exploitation that the indomitable halberdier can still make of him - explicitly writes:

“I certainly think the Church teaching he is happier when he has such enthusiastic partisans around him as those represented here, that when he cuts the faithful out of the study of his divine doctrines and the sympathy of his divine contemplations, and demands from them one fides implied in his word, that in the educated classes will end up in indifference, and in the poorest in superstition ".

Here then is cooperation and collaboration in consulting the faithful it is the focal point of Newman's entire essay. There is no Church docent without a church docta: the development of correct faith therefore always takes place as a path of ecclesial unity, without creating schisms, false dilemmas and who knows what other devilry, in order to babble nonsense about the primacy of common sense against the "heretical" magisterium of the Supreme Pontiff Francis, of which some brain-disconnected subjects come to maintain that his own election to the sacred throne is invalid. Yes, because the halberdiers continually write against the magisterium, establishing with factual and concrete arguments that the sense of the faithful it is superior even to the details offered by it. That is, in their odd theory it seems to me that I can clearly infer that the sense of the faithful it is a kind of epistemological force that, linked to baptismal grace, it can also come to affirm authentically and indisputably which document can be called authentic magisterium and must therefore be obeyed, and at the same time which document is instead the pure opinion of the pope or the bishops and which can be disregarded if not indeed attacked on social.

In tal modo, perhaps not realizing it, they fall into the Protestant error of free examination: only while Protestants apply this theory to Holy Scripture, these free defenders of Catholicism and of the one faith with a spatial halberd, they apply it to Tradition and to the Magisterium texts. If these are all hoaxes in what way, At that time, the faithful walk with the teaching Church (who teaches the truths of faith) without falling into the extremisms seen so far? Let's see in synthesis precisely how the Second Vatican Council defines the meaning of the faithful. In particular he talks about it in the The light in the part dedicated to The sense of faith and the charisms in the people of God:

"The holy people of God also participate in Christ's prophetic office by spreading his living testimony everywhere, above all through a life of faith and charity, and by offering God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips acclaiming to his name (cf.. EB 13,15). The totality of the faithful, having the anointing that comes from the Saint, (cf.. 1 GV 2,20 e 27), cannot be mistaken in believing, and he manifests this property of his through the supernatural sense of the faith of all the people, when "from the bishops to the last lay faithful" shows his universal consent in matters of faith and morals. And indeed, for that sense of faith, which is aroused and sustained by the Spirit of truth, and under the guidance of the sacred magisterium, which allows, if he is faithfully obeyed, to no longer receive a human word, but truly the word of God (cf.. 1 Ts 2,13), God's people unfailingly adhere to the faith transmitted to the saints once and for all (cf.. Gdc 3), with right judgment penetrates it deeper and more fully applying it to life " (LG. N. 12).

Starting from this text, let's try to clarify the gross errors mentioned above. The first mistake made in the aforementioned "ecclesiological theory" was that of distinguishing the bishops, the cardinals, dad, in short, all the clergy from the simple lay faithful. An error that was not even committed by Newman as we have seen. In short, the lay faithful do not have a different sense of faith than that of the clergy, which would be more genuine or more true, even if the clergy, in its totality, continually complied with actions contrary to Catholic morality. And here is how I anticipated, the beauty of Catholic doctrine which, in terms of receiving the Truth from the Holy Spirit, places the entire ecclesial body on the same level.

The second mistake it consists of contrasting the Magisterium and the Sense of the Faithful: this is outside Catholic logic and theology precisely because of the sole origin of the revealed data: the Trinitarian God in his ad extra missions. God does not offer the truth in pieces, crumbling it according to the people, of times and needs, from which it would follow that God offers, to the Holy Father Francis, the whole Catholic truth about the dual nature of Christ, while to Mr. Rossi of the parish of Tor Lupara he teaches that Jesus is only God or that he is only man, so Mr. Rossi can oppose his personal sense of faith against the Pope's Magisterium. The council teaches precisely that the sense of the faithful comes from listening to the sacred magisterium, which offers guidance on Sacred Scripture and Tradition. Hence Catholic doctrine as regards the authentic teaching of the faith and the interpretation of biblical texts, precisely for the task entrusted by Jesus himself to the apostles and for the power of the keys offered to Peter and his successors, it places the bishops as the first teachers of the faith, and not on the same level as the lay faithful. Which obviously will be able to rightly be formed, study books on exegesis and theology, but they will never be able to assume definitive and authentic interpreters of these texts: it is not the task assigned to them by God.

.

Finally, here is a practical consideration and daily to propose. The penetration of the whole Church to the divine mysteries, as the council writes, clergy and lay faithful who are guided by the Magisterium, it has no military or, on the contrary, only organizational value: in fact, following the Magisterium is what is needed to transform the Word of God into a lived word. To pass from professed faith to lived faith and therefore to active Charity.

Follow the Magisterium therefore it does not consist in the act of mimicking the words of others, like puppets or Sicilian puppets, but listen with devout reverence and a critical filial spirit to the word of Jesus to be incarnated today to give the face of Christ to the suffering and those who are far away. For this that once again a sense of the faithful who stood as the definitive interpreter of everything, it would create a fragmentation and fragmentation of the same data of faith, generating as much confusion and chaotic vision of charity. Indeed, again Mr. Rossi might believe that since Jesus has only divine nature and is not really risen because God cannot die, then it would do well to act accordingly and then stop believing in the resurrection of bodies. As a result, also to stop taking care of his body and hurting himself, because if he believes that the body does not rise again, Mr. Rossi can also mutilate himself.

This chaotic vision which at the same time would not help to actualize and concretize even the spiritual works of mercy, including that of advising the doubters. In fact, if the Magisterium is no longer an authoritative source of Truth, Mr. Bianchi in his staff sense of the faithful he could also consider it a duty to invite his best friend to carry out a schism and a distancing of the Church and to distance himself from Jesus, when faced with a doubt, for example, about the Trinitarian nature or even about a single and daily moral action.

The bizarre theories of the Catholic halberdiers - for which I pray a lot that they convert and soon return to full personal compliance with the doctrine - they reach terrible practical and pastoral conclusions, but above all they end up being, in concrete facts and in their approach to faith, of the perfect Lutherans, without realizing it is, unaware that many of their critical reasons are the same as Martin Luther's. This is why I wanted to dedicate an article to him, to try to avoid a form of the "dictatorship of relativism" disguised as a more genuine expression of the Catholic faith, to prevent certain subjects from falling into Lutheranism on one side, in modernism on the other hand, except to feel and believe the only ones, alone and authentic guardians of the true faith and the authentic Catholic tradition.

Two days ago ho ho published an article harsh and severe to comment on the announced participation of the Roman Pontiff in a talk show always known for being a flag of the worst hipster and politically correct Left: What's the weather like, hosted by Fabio Fazio, who for years has been supported by Luciana Littizzetto who has mocked the Catholic Church in every way, the doctrine, the morality and pastoral care of the Bishops of Italy. This is the container - and no one can deny it - in which the Supreme Pontiff has decided to put his contents. Applying the justifying principle that the person is responsible for the contents expressed and certainly not for the container in which he expressed them, in that case I could easily publish an article on the mystery of the Holy Spirit in the magazine Playboy, without anyone daring to tell me anything, because I would only answer for what I write, regardless of the close-ups of the splendid naked models that fill the pages of that monthly magazine. Exactly like the Roman Pontiff guest at What's the weather like responsible for its own contents, certainly not a container that for years mocked the Catholic Church through the armed wing of Luciana Littizzetto, or not?

That of Fabio Fazio it is not the Left of workers' demands or struggles, policies and trade unions of the old, glorious and also lamented Italian Communist Party, to whom Italy has owed so much since the time of the Constituent Assembly and of which he was the last leader that great gentleman Enrico Berlinguer. Fabio Fazio's is the Left - as I explained and as I will reiterate - with the super-penthouses in Parioli and the villas in Capalbio. In my humble opinion the presence of the Supreme Pontiff was inappropriate, introduced, as I imagined, from the comments of a court of secularist leftists headed by Roberto Saviano who, like a vaudeville theater before the opening of the big curtain, they attempted to legitimize - succeeding in the eyes of many, Alas! ― their not-being-Catholic, always adverse to everything the Catholic feels on the doctrinal level, of faith and morality. The one I call Gianluigi Nuzzi strategy, with whom I had a debate on live television in 2020, even though he immediately understood in the space of a few seconds that he wasn't attacking me and, like the intelligent person he is, he immediately pulled the oars into the boat.

Simple yet dangerous and terrifying the split made by these people between Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the Church and the Papacy. Only those incapable of understanding and wanting, or those who do not want to understand and want, they can tear their clothes before my words and not notice how these sinister subjects have been presenting Jorge Mario Bergoglio as a "great revolutionary" for years, a "lonely and misunderstood" man, but above all "hindered". And who, would be misunderstood and hindered? Soon said: from the Church, by the very evil Roman Curia and by unspecified conservatives who do not want the great "revolutionary epochal change". Soon said: through this game it ends up being broadcast to the masses, including the army of simple and fragile Catholics, a terrible subliminal message: Bergoglio Yes, Church no, Bergoglio Yes, Papato no… We just need the icing on the pastry chef's cake: Bergoglio Yes, christ not.

Exactly the Gianluigi Nuzzi strategy who has written about the Church and the true and presumed wrongdoings of the clergy for over a decade about everything and more. From the 2013 however, it does so with a strategy that has something diabolical in it: separates Jorge Mario Bergoglio from his sacred office, he detaches him from the Church and from the clergy of which he is supreme head by divine mandate, it changes it into an unspecified one “misunderstood revolutionary”, it elevates him as a victim and then as such defends him from a corrupt and corrupting system, that is, the Church of Christ. Having done this, he feels so entitled to dump all the worst mud in the world on us. As if Jorge Mario Bergoglio were nothing more than a simple Jorge Mario Bergoglio, while for us he is the Successor of the Blessed Apostle Peter and the legitimate Vicar of Christ on earth to whom the Word of God has given the power of the keys [cf. Mt 13, 16-19]. And as such all of us Catholic priests and faithful venerate and obey him, always. Regardless of some of its limitations and defects about which one is not required to remain silent, even more so in the name of the most sinister and blind clericalism which would even have the comical claim of criticizing clericalism, like: can a burglar perhaps criticize and condemn burglary?

It may be that the solons of the Holy See and those responsible for the Vatican Media have never noticed this dangerous game? Yup, who noticed it, but the problem is that the Supreme Pontiff rejected the old one, consolidated and all in all functional machine of the Roman Curia, which with all its strengths and weaknesses has always fulfilled its delicate primary task: protect the figure of the August Pontiff and his public image. Unfortunately, the problem is known: the Holy Father does not listen to anyone and acts on his own mind, after having turned away numerous faithful and valued servants to surround himself with mediocre subjects and complacent pimps, with the results we have under our eyes today.

We also want to talk about its obvious inconsistencies? Also the Blessed Apostle Peter, chosen by Christ, God himself, appeared inconsistent and fragile, it is written in the Holy Gospels, in the Apostolic Letters and in the Acts of the Apostles. And it is for that grace of God, often intelligible in our eyes as Catholics that we have experienced many moments of this pontificate as an authentic misfortune. It will take many years, maybe decades to be able to read and then understand how God has filled us with grace through this unhappy and sad pontificate, especially today in its last and desperate swings of the tail. Often, throughout history, God's mercy has bestowed the best graces through misfortunes. An example: after the great plague of 1348, referred to by historians as black Death O big black plague, arrived in Europe from China - for a change! - which exterminated half the population of our continent, it came to life a century after the great Renaissance period.

So if I say Jorge Mario Bergoglio it is because I intend to make a clear distinction between man and the office of the Roman Pontiff, perfectly aware that the office is conferred on man and that the fullness of the Petrine ministry exists in the man who is clothed with it. This is something that we priests and theologians are aware of, knowing full well that Simon son of Jonah (cf. Mt 15, 17) he ceased to be such to become Peter, the stone placed on the cornerstone which is Christ (cf. At 4, 11; Ef 2, 20) on which the Incarnate Word of God built his Church (cf. Mt 16, 18-19).

If the man Jorge Mario Bergoglio was also one of the worst, or even the worst pontiff in the entire history of the Papacy, all of us priests and faithful owe him devoted respect and filial obedience, always and regardless. Worthy or unworthy he is the legitimate successor of the Blessed Apostle Peter, who received his mandate from Christ himself, transferring it to all his Successors, of which the reigning Pontiff is the holder in legitimate line of apostolic succession. The Roman Pontiff, when it expresses itself in matters of doctrine and faith, he enjoys the special assistance of the Holy Spirit to the point of pronouncing himself infallibly. But when he acts as a man or as private doctor he can take actions or indulge in those inappropriate expressions, unhappy and misleading to which Jorge Mario Bergoglio has by now accustomed us for nine years now. In this case, like everyone else, he is subject to criticism and reproaches, because neither some of his repeated zibaldoni pronounced on the plane at high altitude nor his unhappy chats with Eugenio Scalfari can be elements of supreme magisterium for us, much less binding. In fact, as the Holy Bishop and Doctor of the Church Ambrose of Milan said at the time:

«Tell the Bishop of Rome that after Jesus Christ he comes for us, that we venerate and respect him, but also tell him that we don't intend to use the head that God has given us just to put a hat on.".

After this clarification Let's get to the heart of the problem: to the proven test of facts, the reigning Pontiff has never ceased to be Jorge Mario Bergoglio to become Peter, that is, Francis, as he chose to call himself. Dignity which, however, does not belong to him, but which was given to him only on loan for use and for which he will have to seriously and gravely answer to God according to the terrible warning of Jesus Christ:

Speaking for the sinner I am, therefore as a person liable to fall and relapse into sin, I confess publicly, especially to you silent Bishops and Cardinals, that I would not want to be in the place of the man Jorge Mario Bergoglio, because according to what the Holy Scriptures report, from Christ risks being told: “I did not entrust to you the power of the keys of the kingdom of heaven so that «whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and everything you melt on earth will be melted in heaven " (Mt 16, 19), so that you would drag my Church into a theater of ridicule amidst the laughter of jugglers, of the dwarves and the dancers of the equestrian circus". Nor would I want to be in the place of the silent Bishops and Cardinals, who before the Holy Bride of Christ exposed to the shame of ridicule, they find nothing better to do than engage in that sin that seems to be the most popular among them: the sin of omission, combined with the destructive cynicism of those who slothfully wait for the wind to change, without having to lift a finger, without taking any initiative, without taking on a single responsibility, except jumping with a sprint like professional athletes onto the next leader's cart.

Of course, none of us were prepared to die in ridicule, thanks to a Supreme Pontiff who decided to play the jester in the sinister court of Fabio Fazio and Luciana Littizzetto.

From decline to decline in popularity into which this pontificate has long sunk, loved by all that is not Catholic but suffered with tears of blood by devout priests and faithful, what the original and eccentric has in store for us in the future headquarters Jorge Mario Bergoglio? Undecided whether to intervene or not, at first I thought it was convenient not to give further evidence to such an indecent havoc, but then I felt that it is more necessary to give a voice to many believers, humble and good, offenses in the most cherished values ​​to protest against continuous and ignoble attacks on the faith; I felt it was my duty to denounce once again how the public service cannot and should not allow such situations, still hoping that, at the institutional level, someone intervene; I felt it was clear that one cannot declare oneself a believing Catholic and then endorse and organize similar exhibitions; Finally, I felt that it is important and urgent to stem the serious educational drift that threatens especially the youngest with the ostentation of inadequate models.

I am aware that my dispute it will find little echo in the media world dominated by single thinking, but I am even more certain that it will reach clean and courageous hearts, capable of reacting in everyday life to such rampant and poisonous aggressions. Above all, I am convinced that I have to fulfill my duty as a pastor so that the Christian people, also entrusted to my care, do not suffer scandal from a silence interpreted as indifference or, even worse, acquiescence.

The collective reaction was positive, so that of Europe; there was no lack of yellow card celebrations of some politicians who tried to ascribe the success and salvation of the country, just as there was no shortage of improvised constitutionalists, Alas! The non-knowledge hoisted into the system is intolerable and no one thinks that the citizens are distracted, or who are spectators to be made fun of, they forget so much.

To tie up the threads of a delirious week let's start from the words of the President of the Republic: «Respect» for the Institutions, "Responsibility" for the country and the citizens who will certainly have felt disconcerted and perhaps even impressed. We move forward, unable not to thank President Sergio Mattarella for having once again saved the country from irresponsibility, Premier Draghi who has proven to be a grandfather in the service of the country. Two high-calibre figures who, however, impose a "U" turn on the political class.

Having said that, I would like to leave on a positive note and a teaching that gives me so much comfort. In the most dramatic moments of life, we need to look at the positive that is always found in every situation: if nothing else, certainly the awareness of the difficulty is healthy. The 28 January 2022, for the first time in the history of republican and democratic Italy, the candidacy of a woman for the presidency of the Republic was proposed and voted for by over 380 Big Voters (more than 400 abstained). Evidently the country has expressed a healthy maturity, in line with the election of the Honorable Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, four years ago, to the Presidency of the Senate. This candidacy is certainly a good message for the younger generations.

Beyond any partisan consideration ― the role of Alberti Casellati is super parts and it will remain so in any case - as intelligent opening detects, thus the internal jealousies and resentments that have miserably prevailed are evident, clearly preventing the valorization of a colleague… Paraphrasing: «A woman is a wolf». Myself, every time I feel discouraged in doing good, delegitimized, attached and I would like to say: “Make do”, I will think of these people who have truly restored dignity to two important words "respect" and "responsibility". Those who live moved by these values ​​will never be able to betray them even if the other does not deserve it because good is never a reaction but an action, a conscious choice. Perhaps this allows most people to live irresponsibly.

With Sergio Mattarella the history of the Quirinale continues its glorious journey, in the wake of the past: the sense of the institutions, the preparation of the President have averted the collapse in our recent past. Dr.. Jorge Facio Lynx, born in Medellin Antioquia (30.10.1983) from a paternal family of Italian origin and a maternal family of Spanish origin, is a consecrated lay student of Father Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo, that he met in Rome in 2008 and with whom he has lived and collaborated together since May 2011. After the equivalent classical high school carried out in the Catholic school of the Archdiocese of Medellin, he obtained the master in classical literature at the University of Salamanca, a degree in philosophy in Rome with a specialization in the metaphysics of St. Thomas Aquinas and a degree in theology from the Pontifical Lateran University. Refined and cultured philosopher, theologian of profound and solid doctrine, he is also a scholar and expert in historical-artistic subjects for which he has been making his contribution to the activities of the art historian for years Licia Oddo, Student and collaborator of the art critic Paolo Levi, with which he edited several art catalogs for Mondadori Editions.

The Island of Patmos has entered its 9th year of activity, since the 20 October 2014 the site of our magazine went online. An idea born from Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo and built together with Antonio Love (1938-2020) and Giovanni Cavalcoli, still member of the scientific committee of our editions.

Yesterday, 16 January, in the daily newspaper of the bishops Future an article signed by Gianni Cardinale has appeared which collects the outburst of the bishop of the diocese of Teano-Calvi, Alife-Caiazzo S. AND. Mons. Giacomo Cirulli. The prelate, as sorrowful as the king of Samaria Akhab whose vineyard Neboth refused [cf.. 1 Re 21, 1-16], opens the cataracts of his heart to the journalist of the bishops' newspaper. Thus we come to part of his immense pain that in these days the faithful and priests no-vax they procured him by reacting to the provision - he says of mere common sense - which consisted in banning some priests, deacons and lay ministers from the distribution of the Eucharist to the faithful of his diocese as guilty of not having vaccinated [you see who, who].

Indeed, a different style would be expected from a successor of the Apostles, certainly more far-sighted, I would dare to say almost as a statesman of the spirit who is capable of looking at the present but essentially at the future and at the future consequences that are already determined today. Because all this will end sooner or later and Msgr. Cirulli, one tomorrow, he will still find himself bishop of that portion of the Church whose children have been mistreated with restrictive measures. What attitude will one have to expect from these priestly sons, deacons, ministers and laity? With what courage will he still be able to look at them without feeling red or with what embarrassment he will be able to bear their gaze veiled by a wounded trust? Look of souls destined for Paradise and not just bodies to be treated, this responsibility which must be held accountable to Christ the Good Shepherd, who took care of the bodies without forgetting the souls.

Above all, a question is required, always premising, as already done in my previous article, that the absolute majority of the Italian clergy has undergone vaccination, including myself. This is the question, however, as usual, it is destined to remain unanswered: the bishops who are currently thundering and threatening some members of their clergy to proceed with their suspension from the exercise of the priestly ministry, in case of non-vaccination, when they saw some of their parish priests embraced a Marco Cappato after having signed at the banquet that collected the signatures for the referendum in favor of euthanasia, how they threatened these authentic shames of the Catholic priesthood to proceed against them with canonical penalties? Maybe, if for so much zeal his bishop even took him as an example to those very few priests who are frightened by the vaccine, but to whom it would never cross their minds to go and sign in favor of referendum on euthanasia?

It is not my intention to criticize common sense and the reasonableness of the vaccine as a method currently in use to stem Covid-19 infection, indeed I go back to repeating, for the avoidance of doubt, that we Fathers de The Island of Patmos we all underwent the vaccination. Not only: to those who asked us for guidance we have always replied by premising that we are not specialists in the specific and delicate sector but that we are, even if it is not, common sense leads us to suggest the use of the only system that we currently have available, which is vaccination, to read too, wanting, as a sense of responsibility and respect for ourselves and for others. And as, on certain hot topics, the clarifications are never too many, then I clarify further. When I announced to Father Ariel this morning that I had just sent this new article to the editorial office, his answer was: «Right now I'm going to the vaccination center because after having done the III dose the 10 January I did not receive the SMS with the code needed to print the GreenPass. As soon as I return, we will assemble your item ". In short, he didn't tell me he was going to a demonstration no-vax, how Father Gabriel would not say it and how I would not say it. Having said this, however, it is good to specify that "good" and "bad" Catholics do not evaluate them on the basis of vaccination - which is opportune and undoubtedly necessary -, but on other moral and pastoral grounds. For example we are required to consider "bad", indeed very bad Catholics, those who publicly declare themselves in favor of abortion, the birth control pill, the abortion pill, to marriage between same-sex couples, or who call sweet death through euthanasia "mercy" because they say it is "cruel" to make a dying person suffer. And all this, some bad Catholics, they state this publicly in the name of a distorted and aberrant idea of ​​"Christian love". Those are the bad Catholics for us, indeed bad Catholics. Not those who, undoubtedly mistaken for weakness, fragility or ignorance, but also for the avalanche of contradictory news, of proclamations and denials, of changes of direction and ideas [cf.. who], everything always and strictly speaking without anyone ever admitting "we made a mistake in some evaluation", today they are terrified of being vaccinated.

Having clarified this I continue: what I believe I can criticize in the legitimate exercise of the freedom of the children of God is the political style of dealing with these resistances to the vaccine that must not and cannot find acceptance in the Catholic Church. If you continue at this rate you do not want to hear reasons, gangrenous in the well-known clerical stubbornness, the only result will be that of cracking the filial trust of the faithful towards their bishops by making that very poor remnant of paternal authority that the Italian episcopate still retains but which seems willing to sell off with every care as soon as possible.

Therefore, the so-called no-vax O anti-vax, we find them in politics on the far right as well as the far left, in the ranks of the most pushed Catholic progressivism as well as in those of the most radical Catholic traditionalism. And who does not see this, it can only give a completely distorted vision of reality, stating that fear, or if we want ignorance in the etymological sense of the term, it only belongs to a very specific category.

Dear readers, understand why the credibility of the Church today it appears to be at an all-time low? If these are the strong arguments, it's easy to see why people no longer take us seriously but laugh at us. If everything is summed up in oppositional ideological issues then we are doing politics, propaganda, loyalty and party membership. As did the premier Mario Draghi during the last press conference that illustrated the latest anti Covid decree, also Msgr. Cirulli said that in essence the responsibility lies with the unvaccinated - be they consecrated or lay - thus facilitating divisions, creating suspicion, giving twine to the informers, stimulating tensions that will struggle to heal over time.

And if maybe two years ago, in obedience to the words of the Pope and the Italian Episcopal Conference, the prelate would have been happy to hug a Chinese and eat an inclusive spring roll, today he would be careful not to hug a priest no-vax as a sign of relaxation and the resumption of ecclesial communion. What to say more, these are the times when everyone wishes to appear as Socratic philosophers, everyone feels strong in the assumption of the son of Sofroniscus who says that the rules are respected even when they are unjust and therefore we must do what they command us to do, even if we don't like them "either you eat this soup or you throw yourself out the window" sang Nino Ferrer.

However, they forget that Socrates he chose to drink hemlock not on the basis of unjust laws but on a manipulated legal system, unable to respect the spirit of the law and the legislator who must provide for fair exceptions and derogations to save the integrity of man and his spirit from dangerous totalitarian drifts.
