Remaining prisoners of memories of the past is always dangerous. Living backwards is often the condition of those who are unable to live in the present. Those who live life from the perspective of faith know that they are not only on a journey towards the future, but projected towards eternity.

It may happen that you find it in an almost forgotten box some object or some image that marked a season of one's life. When this photograph of mine reemerged from the past I did not feel that nostalgia that belongs to what is lost and does not return, but rather tenderness and gratitude. So much so that the phrase contained in the opening verse of the Psalm came to mind 42 (43), with which the priest, at the foot of the altar, began the Holy Mass in the rite preceding the liturgical reform of the Holy Pontiff Paul VI:

«Introibo altar Gods, to God who makes my youth happy» (I will approach the altar of God, to God who cheers my youth").

I thank God, together with the Brothers of this happy Island of Patmos of ours, for giving us a youth that never fades. Not that of the body, that time inevitably transforms, but that contained in the ministerial priesthood of Christ which has marked and ontologically transformed us. A youth that no passage of years can consume, because it has its roots in the very eternity of God. Because of this, every time we approach the altar of the Lord, we can keep repeating within ourselves, with the same truth and with the same joy, the words of the Psalmist: Introibo altar Gods, to God who makes my youth happy.

The list of serious disparities, of injustices, violations of fundamental rights, in particular, the violation of human rights that takes place directly "in the home" of the Supreme Pontiff, without anyone stopping you - on the contrary: they also get offended and become even more violent towards anyone who dares to ask for them to stop -, they are longer than litany Lauretane. Because ultimately we are and remain the same as always: ready on the one hand to defend in the public square the dignity of the last of the illegal Muslim immigrants landed on the Italian coasts, or even the dignity of embryos, and then beat the faithful servants of the Church inside the clerical rooms when the world's cameras are turned off.

The list of grave disparities, injustices, and violations of fundamental rights — in particular the violation of human rights committed directly “within the household” of the Supreme Pontiff, without anyone putting a stop to them (indeed: they even take offence and become still more aggressive toward those who dare ask that they cease) — is longer than the Litany of Loreto. Because, in the end, we are and remain what we have always been: ready, on the one hand, to defend in the public square the dignity of the last Muslim clandestine migrant landed on Italian shores, or even the dignity of embryos, only then to beat the faithful servants of the Church inside clerical chambers when the world’s cameras are turned off.

But then again, it is well known: the ecclesiastical world is the only place on earth where reality has chosen to disguise itself as a permanent allegory — a theatre of power in which the martyrs perform in backlight and the sinners step onto the stage under full lights wearing liturgical vestments instead of clown costumes.

But let us not be afraid: in those who merely appear in liturgical attire the Lord does not seek miracles; yet in His backlit martyrs He always recognises the Church He Himself founded.

Andrea Cionci and the epilogue of the painful lie from which he no longer knows how to escape

He has vilified the Supreme Pontiff Francis for years, calling him "invalidly elected", "antipope", «false pope», «usurper of the throne of Peter», "heretic", "Apostate", "evil Bergoglio" ... then continuing to argue that we don't know if the current reigning Pontiff is truly valid. Even though he feels legitimate - without human penalty of ridicule - to present even phantom complaints to the judicial offices of His Holiness.

The Fathers of the Island of Patmos take note that following an article by our Hermit Monk (cf.. WHO), Mr. Andrea Cionci, opera singer, but today a great expert in canon law, in one of his videos from November 11th he accused the editor of this magazine of being a self-styled priest and self-styled theologian. To these insults, not exactly mild, he adds that he has filed a complaint against him at the office of the Promoter of Justice of the Vatican City State (cf.. WHO).

It is worth remembering that Mr. Cionci has vilified the Supreme Pontiff Francis for years, calling him "invalidly elected", "antipope", «false pope», «usurper of the throne of Peter», "heretic", "Apostate", "evil Bergoglio" ... then continuing to argue that we don't know if the current reigning Pontiff is truly valid. Even though he feels legitimate - without human penalty of ridicule - to present even phantom complaints to the judicial offices of His Holiness; offices responsible for issuing sentences of acquittal or condemnation in the name of the validly elected Roman Pontiff, as well as succeeded by an equally valid Predecessor.

The logical question is therefore rigor: is it not perhaps the judicial offices of the Roman Pontiff himself about which Mr. Cionci is saying around that we don't know if it is valid, given the disability of the Predecessor, publicly vilified by him as a "heretic" and "apostate"? Isn't it perhaps he himself who maintains in articles and conferences that if a pontiff is invalid they are invalid that fact e ipso jure all his acts?

Mr. Cionci has wrapped himself in a castle of lies and absurdity through its surreal pamphlet “Ratzinger Code”, from which today he no longer knows how to escape, unless they continue to expose themselves to public derision, as the facts prove without easy penalty of denial, including the pathetic threat of having turned to the justice of that institution that he has outraged for years by hitting and delegitimizing the papacy through public contempt of the figure of the Roman Pontiff, continuing undaunted, all ’ today, to bring outrage to the memory of the Holy Father Francis.

But he says he turned to Vatican justice against a self-styled priest and self-styled theologian. And with this everything is said about the logic and coherence of Mr. Cionci.

The new Cionci's story: from the Roman Seraphicum to the British Nimby

THE NEW CIONCI'S STORY: FROM THE ROMAN SERAPHICUM TO THE BRITISH NIMBY

Dear Cavalier Cionci - because incidentally you are also a Knight of the Italian Republic - you are very free to think what you believe, to write it, naturally, to have a following. But don't take the Catholic Church or those who manage its structures for fools, with means of this kind.

Many know the English expression «Not In My Back Yard» (not in my garden), often abbreviated with the acronym: «Nimby». A saying that serves to designate someone's opposition to hosting projects on their territory.

But there is also a proverb, this time Italian, that we all know and that begins like this: «Between the two litigants…»; which I would like to conclude by modifying the classic form a little with «... the third laughs».

The two litigants in question I'm Alessandro Minutella, priest from Palermo excommunicated e dismissed from the clerical state, and the journalist Andrea Cionci, author of the book «Ratzinger Code» in which he advocates the thesis that Pope Benedict XVI would never have renounced the papacy, by taking shelter in an imaginary prevented location, with the consequence that Pope Francis would have been an antipope. For the current Pontiff, judgment is suspended. Once upon a time the two got along very well, sharing ideas and proceeds. But as happens in couples, even the most close-knit ones, who first love each other and then hate each other, this is what happened between our two. Not a day goes by that they get caught on social media, Holding things against each other and no longer mentioning each other's names. Minutella indicates Cionci as «the Roman journalist», while for Cionci the Palermo native is addressed with: «the great prelate». In truth they both have a mad desire for fame, but above all to be taken seriously. And where if not in the Catholic Church and in one of its structures for example?

It so happens that Cionci is invited to speak at a meeting promoted by an association on apocalyptic themes, none other than in a room belonging to the Pontifical University of San Bonaventura, which is part of the complex Seraphicum in Rome. Naturally quietly: "I kept a low profile", Cionci will say. To then promulgate to the four winds, something that his commentators on social media understood very well, just read the comments, who had been able to talk about what he believes even in a Pontifical University. Open up heaven. Minutella immediately raises her tone: «Yes to him, not to me?». And for the duration of the usual morning appointment with his followers he returns to it, showing the poster of the event, circled well to highlight Cionci's name and the cost of participation.

It happens that the event is cancelled. The university thinks again and does not make its spaces available. Naturally, CIONCA, he is quick to report it in a video on YouTube blaming Minutella, accusing him of having caused harm that was not so much to him, but to that extraordinary possibility of being able to speak about his theses in a Pontifical University.

Caro Cionci, we know Minutella, but this time he's not to blame: it is innocent. I'm the culprit, I admit: became aware of the thing and foreseeing the use that would then be made of it, I took pen and paper, or rather the computer, because even in my remote hermitage we have connection, and I wrote an email to the general secretary of the San Bonaventure Theological Faculty, asking if they thought it appropriate to host an event in which such bizarre ideas would be presented that still offend the person of Pope Francis, of venerable memory, and that of Pope Benedict, made to appear as a sort of carbonaro who puts the entire Church in check. The response was not long in coming: «the rental of the room was immediately canceled and the event at our headquarters was cancelled».

Perhaps the second email also had an impact, this time sent with more refined and appropriate tones by our editorial team of The Island of Patmos to the Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça? I do not know, but so.

Dear Cavalier Cionci - because incidentally he is also a Knight of the Italian Republic - you are very free to think what you believe, to write it, naturally, to have a following. But don't take the Catholic Church or those who manage its structures for fools, with means of this kind. You know what I recommend? Rent a plane, there, It seems like a good idea to me. He's already tried it? Or, like Minutella does, go to hotels. It will be expensive yes, but I don't think you will manage to buy a former gym with an asbestos roof in a hamlet in the province of Padua, like the double doctor of theology from Palermo. I don't see it.

To reassure her I conclude with Professor Keating's words to one of his students, alias Robin Williams, in the famous film Dead Poets Society: «Let's not laugh at her, let's laugh with her".

Franca Giansoldati, Vaticanist note from the newspaper The messenger, today gave news of the splendid Arabian stallion donated by a Polish faithful to His Holiness Leo XIV. A magnificent animal that the Holy Father - with that frank elegance of his that hopefully will surprise the courtiers - has expressed the desire to mount personally (cf.. WHO).

May the Holy Father wish to mount that noble steed it sincerely fills us with joy. Not only because it reveals an authentic love for the creatures of creation, but also because it shows a Pontiff who is still vigorous and full of energy at the dawn of his just turned seventy years old. And God knows how much, in these times, the Church needs Pastors who still know how to ride a horse and lead the flock.

To worry, if anything, it's something else entirely: the very high number of subjects who populate the Roman Curia, who - apparently - instead dream of being ridden by that splendid stallion. And as long as this clerical herd, nourished by ambition and courtliness, she will not be sent back to the stables, no reform, however holy, can succeed. Everything will end, like always, in the usual gallop towards nowhere.

Between Prozan and Prozac. THOSE PRIESTS WHO DERAIL AND HOLY MARY OF EQUILIBRIUM

For days we have been witnessing the case of some priests who have abandoned their ministry, believing that the cause is also due to a question of imbalance of that human virtue of temperance and faith. This essentially leads to the implementation of two possible scenarios: there are those who push on the accelerator of tradition and the romantic retro past with the hope of finding a panacea for the ills of the Church and those who dive into extreme progressivism which dangerously borders on heresy and manifest and full-blown schism.

Among the many Marian devotions — real or presumed — that crowd the Orbe catholica There is a very nice one which in our opinion is decidedly original and significant. We're talking about the Alma Aequilibri Mater which was renamed with the name of Santa Maria dell'Equilibrio, of whose feast there is no date, because from morning to evening, will be invoked. Anyone who would like to know more about the history of this Marian devotion will easily be able to find various news on the web and in other sources, for us, however, it is an opportunity for some scattered reflections.

In everyday life there is a need for balance which is that human quality that pertains to the virtue of temperance. Balance tempers intelligence and strengthens it, making it more witty and effective. In spiritual life itself, balance is equally fundamental because a faith without balance, that is, unbalanced, it is a chaotic faith capable of all kinds of aberrations and exaggerations.

The intelligence of reasonable faith cannot do without balance just as a minister of God cannot but desire in the exercise of his office to be balanced in doctrine and pastoral practice, avoiding the antipodes of fiery emotionality and dry rationalism.

Why do we say this? Why are we having witnessed for days the case of some priests who have abandoned their ministry, believing that the cause is also due to a question of imbalance of that human virtue of temperance and faith. This essentially leads to the implementation of two possible scenarios that are different in fact but common in error: there are those who push on the accelerator of tradition and the romantic retro past with the hope of finding a panacea for the ills of the Church and those who dive into extreme progressivism which dangerously borders on heresy and manifest and full-blown schism.

We believe that determining whether a man is out of balance is not a matter for a lawsuit, as well as taking note and, if necessary, reporting that a minister in sacred is involved in practice and form in heterodox positions and separation from the ecclesial body of the Church does not constitute a matter under the Code of Criminal Law, if anything canonical and of matter that pertains to the internal forum.

This methodology is sadly notorious in the colorful rainbow lobbies where the trial of intentions and thoughts is equivalent to a violent repression of those who "don't think like me". Of those who want to strut their stuff in tolerance, wisdom and intellectual or theological acumen but in fact it is ensnared by ideology and the pride of the self which is the very denial of any healthy balance and the ability to go inside things.

As Fathers of the Island of Patmos we believe and reaffirm the freedom to use free will as we see fit - knowing that the Creator himself is the first to leave his creatures free - even at the cost of denying faith and the Church and falling into error and sin. However, we are equally convinced that by virtue of this freedom and assumption of responsibility in one's own positions - theological or otherwise - everyone must leave the freedom of criticism and dissent to others, certainly not by sending intimidating messages, or fearing unlikely complaints following the consolidated style of certain rainbow lobbies now specialized in asking for sentences of life imprisonment and harsh imprisonment of 41bis for those who dare to exercise freedom of thought and opinion. Theme this to which, our fathers Ariel S. Levi di Gualdo and Ivano Liguori dedicated a book that has not lost its relevance, indeed he acquired it over time: From Prozan to Prozac.
