"THERE WAS A CRICKET IN A LINEN FIELD ...". JUDAS ALSO CHOSEN THE “WELL POSSIBLE”: ITS GOOD, NOT WHAT CHRIST PROPOSED TO HIM

According to the sacramental theologian, those bad guys from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith dared to present the marriage of man and woman as a good ordained and blessed by God, while that between two men or between two women as evil.

Browsing on Facebook I could not fail to notice the sharing of a post by the theologian Andrea Grillo which announced the imminent release of one of his contributions in a Catholic magazine entitled: "Blessing: style to give the word to the possible good ".

.

The full article will come out tomorrow in the monthly Jesus, direct come on Pauline Fathers founded by Blessed James Alberione. It should be understood that until tomorrow no one will be able to praise or criticize this writing, even if already from the first page shared on the profile Facebook of the theologian you understand the theme of the topic. Blessings will be discussed with clear reference to the facts concerning whether it is permissible or not to bless same-sex couples. And that being said, waiting for the happy publication of this article in a monthly magazine directed by a religious family, instead we can talk about what the sacramental theologian has been writing and saying around for days [See. WHO, WHO, WHO, etc ..].

.

The obvious position of the competent dicastery of the Holy See for the orthodoxy of the faith, has aroused discontent from many quarters: from our local blood don Giulio Mignani of the diocese of La Spezia who refuses to bless the palm trees and olive trees on Passion Sunday; to the Germanic clergy who already anticipate homosexual marriage as a sacrament, comparable to that between man and woman if not more noble because, as the ancients claimed, the love omodiretto it is purer because it is not affected by the complications of reproduction (!?).

.

Now it is the turn of the theologian Andrea Grillo which - with a note of indisputable academic superiority - frames the reply of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith regarding the union of persons of the same sex as a purely Manichean fact that identifies and distinguishes good from evil. In short, a note from bigots who claim to divide the world either all in white or all in black.

.

… when aggressive insolence speaks for itself …

According to the sacramental theologian, those bad guys from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith dared to present the marriage of man and woman as a good ordained and blessed by God, while that between two men or between two women as evil. With the aggravating circumstance - specifies this academic who incidentally teaches sacramental theology in three ecclesiastical universities - that this way of doing theology, both as a dogma and as a practice it would reduce in tradition - it is not clear whether that of the Church or which other - the sense of reality and adherence to prophecy.

.

In short, after less than thirty lines of presentation of the article, the reasonable doubt arises that it is Andrea Grillo who should deal with his own personal sense of reality and prudence. As a sacramental theologian he should only obey what the Congregation in charge establishes and instead, at the end of the preview of his article, he can afford to begin like this: "If two women and two men who live in communion of life and love" .... sorry but what are we talking about? When a theologian I repeat teaches in multiple academic institutions, uses the expression "communion of life and love" which formulates and frames without a doubt the spousal reality modeled on the relationship that Christ has with the Church, what else should one expect in the continuation of the reasoning?

.

The thing is, my dear readers, that we are faced with a theological problem that affects that particular theological virtue which is faith. Homosexuals have nothing to do with it, but nothing at all, absolutely! For some Church personalities it would be appropriate to allow and impart savage blessings at all costs as is done with the like on social network. And if certain realities have not yet been sacramentalized, at least they try to extract consent from the blessing which is a sacramental because, as Don Giulio Mignani had the opportunity to say, a blessing is no longer denied to anyone. It's a bit like saying: “Dear gay brother, now I cannot celebrate your wedding in the Church but I give you the blessing which is a first step to clear your marriage in the future. Because you know, your marriage in the Church is still seen as a suburban wedding but it already has a certain good and value. And given that the Church is not only the center but also the periphery, now grit your teeth and hope for better times ".

.

… when aggressive insolence speaks for itself …

I repeat it once again, the problem is not given by people with homosexual orientation, who are dear people, perhaps even better in some cases than many practicing Christians; better than some bishops and many of us priests. The problem is God, which places - He yes - the boundary between good and evil, between holiness and distance from holiness.

.

I fear the problem of certain theologians lay o bosomes it is accepting a God who treats us as adults, also placing before us the choice of stumbling "life and death, the blessing and the curse " [cf. Dt 30,19] and who through his Son calls man to the definitive and exclusive choice without deceit:

.

"Holy Father, keep those you have given me in your name, so that they are one, like us. When I was with them, I kept in your name those you gave me and I have kept them; none of them have been lost, except the son of perdition, for the Scripture to be fulfilled " [cf. GV 17,11-12].

.

In these days of Holy Week and of Passion we tragically relive the story of the man Judas, who did not choose the good that Christ proposed to him but preferred his personal good. An understandable and shareable good, humanly possible, understood as salvation and redemption within the reach of the man in the street, obtained perhaps with the support of the Sanhedrin and some condescending official of the Roman Empire. I am sure that if Judas were to go to trial today he would be acquitted, any lawyer bumblebee would be able to save him because he is basically human, indeed too human.

.

Paolo Poli, nursery rhyme The Cricket and the Ant

It is of a human salvation that today we want to be satisfied, a redemption capable of not displeasing anyone and bringing everyone closer, only to fail miserably as it happens when everyone is right.

.

We leave the blessings to the Church, to that sacral area that speaks to us of God and that accompanies him. Sweet and precious blessings that flow from a right understanding of sacramental grace and that through it men are willing to receive the main effect of the sacraments and are sanctified in the various circumstances of life [cf. SC, 60; CCC, 1667 e Can. 1166]. Blessing is equivalent to sanctifying, sanctifying is equivalent to seeking the Saint, It gave, who calls everyone to a common conversion and a just resolution of detachment from sin.

.

Get blessed without this desire she has fallen into superstition that someone will perhaps be able to help, but not to find God, at least the God incarnate in Jesus, only begotten son of God, who is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

I am a liturgy enthusiast, and I try to educate myself by reading books on the topic (especially English)
as a layman it seems to me that Grillo rose to fame not so much for the depth of his reflections, but for his polemical ardor, or better, his political ardor: it's not for nothing that some time ago his fb page was entirely a denunciation against a certain Italian politician and a certain party, and the tone of these party interventions was the same as the tone of his liturgical interventions
if these are the promises it is better for the aforementioned scholar to cool the boiling spirits

for the rest, wanting to judge it on its merits, it was already clear that he was grasping at straws after he published this article, perfect example of 'I take a document referring to a specific area and apply it in a context that has nothing to do with it to make it say what I want’ https://www.cittadellaeditrice.com/munera/cosi-antica-e-cosi-attuale-esperienza-della-anafora-di-addai-e-mari-di-stefano-sodaro/

Father Ivano, I'm reopening L'Isola after a busy Easter, I have three small parishes spread across 18 km in three countries, I'll let you imagine. I find several new articles from the fathers, meditations and homilies. Thank you!

Dear Father Ivano, 12 years ago the bishop sent me to do a specialist in sacramentaria at Sant'Anselmo. Listen to the professor's lectures for a quarter. Cricket, at Christmas I returned to the diocese and told the bishop: “do you want a priest fired in the liturgy at the price of the corruption of the faith or a priest who safeguards his faith?”. Because he was so keen for me to do a specialist course in sacred liturgy, he thought about it for a while’ and then he made me enroll at the pontifical university of the Holy Cross. It was his intention to take over the liturgical office, of the celebrations in the cathedral, that I take care of the liturgical formation of our few seminarians (at the time 6 today 1) and that I taught at the ISSR [N.d.R. Higher Institute of Religious Sciences]. Once the training was completed, the bishop was moved to the metropolitan see, his successor was indeed a Santanselmiano liturgist. Three months later he revoked these assignments on the grounds that, because of our shortage and seniority in the clergy, he needed a young priest who could manage three parishes without a parish priest. The real reason was that he did not tolerate a liturgist trained at the university of “terrible” The Work of God. And so it was that before Easter came the prof. Grillo invited by the bishop to instruct the clergy on the Easter dinner. Maybe from the place where it is located (obviously we don't know whether hell or purgatory), Calvin said … “Hat! I couldn't have done better!”.

Do you remember the exhortations of John Paul II in I will give you shepherds? [N.d.R. you see WHO]. The island of Patmos has now become a center for the permanent training of priests abandoned by our bishops, the same bishops who invited that Bianchi who today they pretend not to remember, the same ones who follow Grillo and who turn up their noses at the card. Sarah, the same ones who snort in front of us priests who have remained steadfast on the foundations of Catholic doctrine.
All this scares me much more than Vesuvius currently sleeping above my head.

An illuminating article and a precious source of ideas for us priests, dear father Ivano.
However, we also know what the situation of helplessness is to which we are not forced but obliged. Example: in my parish territory there is a monastery of nuns all from (except for two old women) from the neocatechumenal path. Since I never allowed them to occupy the parish and revolutionize the church for their liturgies, they transformed the monastery church into their center of worship, bringing complacent priests who celebrate and administer sacraments without the required canonical authorization of the parish priest and the bishop or whoever for him. Everyone is silent on the fact that the nuns have invited the semi-atheist Enzo Bianchi to draw from the true sources of salvation, and they invited Grillo several times to instruct them on the true liturgy. An authentic apotheosis when during a liturgy celebrated by a Neocatechumenal priest, after introductions and admonitions from a couple of catechists, after the proclamation of the Gospel the homily was given by Grillo.
And the bishop and whoever knew for him.

To conclude I will say that my bishop is called Francesco, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the one who long ago wanted us parish priests to take an immigrant family for each parish, without imagining, in the increasingly empty parishes of the city, what problems we face, including serious economic problems.

And so here we are hostages of the nuns, of the Neocatechumenals, of the Whites (now fallen into disgrace after decades of consummate damage) and the Grillos, while our bishops are silent, starting with mine, who is the bishop of Rome and head of the apostolic college.

    A Roman presbyter
    (Letter Signed)

P.S. I will never stop giving thanks to Father Ariel for the book he wrote about “the Neocatechumenal sect”, lion in name and in fact!

    Dear Father Ivano,

Not only did his words reassure me as a Catholic husband and father, but they also gave nourishment to that faith in which the Lord, by grace, he called me to live together with my family.

Because we have an infinite need for this: to be continually confirmed in the faith, especially in times like these, in which the lay faithful to Christ are rather left alone to cross the deserts of the world with all their malice. Treated with too much indifference, often by those who have the divine mandate to guide them.

This is why his words shine with a special clarity today: because they give meaning to the heroic nature of being Christian, as you put it well.

That is, they make you experience Peter's feelings intimately when he says: “Only You have words of eternal Life.”
Thanks again and happy Easter of Resurrection to you and to all the Fathers of the Island.

Dear Luca, «where is the truth?»

To this question of yours, I would like to add that of the governor Pilate: «What is truth?» which in this Holy Week resonates as a powerful warning before every believer. Where the truth is? What is the truth?

The answer is all too simple, the truth is Christ, the crucifix, the risen one who lives forever. Everything that is said, thought or done outside of Christ and his person is outside the truth or is a deceptive truth.
The good thing is that – as happened to Pilate – we often have the Truth in front of us and are unable to recognize it. A diabolical deception that leads us to reject the truth in order to choose the false. But Christ has given us the remedy for this evil.

After his resurrection he gives the Holy Spirit to the apostles so that he may be their teacher of truth in the ministry, both in words as well as in deeds.
The Church is always assisted by the Holy Spirit to maintain the truth to the extent that her fidelity to Christ is stable. These days we can also use the word heroic, because it is no longer enough to remain faithful, we need to do it as truly courageous people, as heroes.

Yes dear Luca, today by the simple faithful to the Pope, everyone needs to be confirmed by the Holy Spirit in the truth of Christ which today can only be exercised in a heroic degree, given the numerous attacks that Christ and his teaching suffer not only from outside the Church but above all from within as you have had the opportunity to notice.
Our time is not made for the weak but is made for heroes, for those who intend to live their fidelity to the truth of Christ by putting themselves through it personally, perhaps mortifying themselves with silence, or by teaching their children what most people – including believers – do – is considered insane.

This is why we must forcefully invoke "I came Regina”, the spirit of truth that teaches us everything and convinces us of the ugliness and falsity of the fruits of sin.

In the present case, related to my article, the theological discipline regarding the institution of marriage between man and woman, elevated by Christ the Lord to a sacrament, it's all too clear. There can be no misunderstandings either as regards the Holy Scripture (Old Testament and New Testament teaching), and with regard to the two-thousand-year-old magisterium of the Church.

The truth about marriage is one, if we reject it we betray Christ and the truth is not in us. The truth about marriage between a man and a woman is established by God and no man, even if a cleric, titled layman or theologian, can change it in any way. Because it is only up to God to make us one flesh, a man and a woman (cf. MC 10,8) through Christ. All other unions are not and cannot be considered or configured as equal to Christian marriage, you order a good comparable to this one.

It will be useful for you to take up the Pauline warning that we find in Galatians 1,8: “even if we ourselves or an angel from heaven were to preach to you a different gospel than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed!». We need to discern and separate everything that distances us from the Truth, worrying about keeping everything in every place, it has always been believed by everyone.

I bless you and in the imminence of Easter I wish you all the best.

  8. Luca
    Luca says:
    2 April 2021 at 10:05

    Dear Father Ivano,
    “What to do?”
And I ask this question as a Catholic father who tries every day to keep his children's faith alive.
The current time is really difficult. It is difficult to explain with reason who is in the truth and who is not. And this is because the disagreement and struggle have become internal to the body of the Church. And the scale of this horror is truly impressive today. I realize that the Church has already gone through these moments, but it is one thing to study the event as a fact of the past, it's another thing to live it in the present and discover that you are almost defenseless. There are no references and it's terrible.
How can I, indeed, show the way to my children, if the theologians of the Island propose one teaching and the theologian Grillo proposes another? How can I correctly discern between the content of the recent CDF document and the positions of priests and bishops who invoke divine mercy to justify what the authority of the Church forbids? And this is just said as an example, to say nothing of the rest.
So who is right?? Where is the truth??
And finally the question remains “What to do?”.
