Last Sunday, nella parrocchia da me abitualmente frequentata, il sacerdote celebrante, che è parroco, ripetendosi rispetto agli ultimi anni, incurante dei testi sacri degli Atti degli Apostoli e del Vangelo di Luca che presentano il fatto dell’Ascensione del Signore Gesù così come è stato attestato dai testimoni oculari, Apostoli e Discepoli – cioè che essi hanno avuto chiara la percezione sensibile del movimento ascensionale di tutta la figura del Redentore che saliva verso il cielo – ha negato questa esperienza e l’ha presentata dicendo che Gesù non si è staccato da terra, ma è semplicemente scomparso dalla loro vista, as well as – I add – possiamo leggere nell’episodio dei discepoli di Emmaus. Io ho dato al parroco il testo di una catechesi di Giovanni Paolo II sull’Ascensione, tenuta nel 1989, in cui viene ribadita la verità dei testi sacri, that is, that eyewitnesses relayed what they saw: the detachment from the ground of Jesus ascending to heaven, a sign of another Heaven, that of glorification in God the Father.
Her reflection makes me think of that Dutch girl from 17 years that he has lost all hope and has chosen to die practicing assisted suicide. Disillusa, quickly, victim of a world that has not given her the existential answers that every suffering soul desperately needs. Christian hope is exactly what I thought when reading his story.
