Dear brothers and sisters,

the film series Quentin Tarantino

who has seen the films of Quentin Tarantino: Kill Bill vol. 1 – 2, remember that the heroine Beatrix Kiddo, known as the Bride, flies between Japan and the US, with a single purpose: avenge their relatives killed in the day of his wedding. Beatrix wants to kill Bill, the instigator of the murders that have involved. The film is a collection of frames that tell a gratuitous violence, therefore a cold chronicle of a Revenge.

This terrible message escapes from optics evangelical. The message of Jesus, in this seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time [cf.. Liturgy of the Word, WHO] It is diametrically opposed. It is an invitation to a great love, born from the desire for holiness, to be in full friendship with God. Of holiness there first talks Leviticus, where God tells the Israelites:

"Be holy, why me, the Sir, your God, am holy. Coverai not hate in your heart against your brother ' [Lv 19,2].

This should be holy for the Israelites thus indicating a belonging to God. They were the chosen people, It is chosen so that first received the Decalogue, then propagated to the testimony of the presence of YES all over the world. Because of this, God makes them partakers of the holiness of being detached from other things in the world, in particular from feeling hatred, which easily generates in man with anger.

This call to holiness also for us: therefore a reminder not harbor hatred, But love of God. Greater Love, universal and that involves not only ourselves but those we meet. Therefore we are holy, not of the world but in the world, ready to let the world in holiness of God. This is our vocation, as St Paul tells us:

«Paolo, Apollo, Cefa, the world, the life, the death, the present, the future: all are yours;! But you are Christ's and Christ is God " [The Cor 3, 21-23].

The invitation of Paul to the Corinthians It is not to focus their attention to all these things. Because all these things, Paul's friends, Apollo, Cefa, all things in the world as life and death, knowledge of current and future events have already offered to believers in Christ. Owning the world means to fill the believer of Christ's message and give it a new sense: So to shine as a carrier and witness of a message that exceeds, but at the same time it shows the specialty and uniqueness in front of everyone. Personal holiness is then the source of witness and charity in truth for the world in need of God.

But holiness has a stronger effect, more evident, and that in a sense shocked the world itself. It is the central teaching of the Gospel today:

"You have heard that it was said: "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy". But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven " [Mt 5, 43-44].
