PRAYER OF POPE JOHN PAUL II
FOR ITALY

The Dio, our father,
we praise and thank.
You who love every man and guide all peoples
accompanies the steps of our nation,
often difficult but full of hope.
Let us see the signs of your presence
and we experience the power of your love, that never fails.
Lord Jesus, Son of God and Savior of the world,
made man in the womb of the Virgin Mary,
we confess our faith to you.
Your Gospel be light and vigor
for our personal and social choices.
May your law of love lead our civil community
by justice and solidarity, to reconciliation and peace.
Holy Spirit, love of the Father and the child
with confidence we invoke you.
You who are inner teacher reveal to us the thoughts and ways of God.
Grant us to look at human affairs with pure and penetrating eyes,
to preserve the legacy of holiness and civilization
own of our people,
to convert in mind and heart to renew our society.
Glory to you, or Father, that works all in all.
Glory to you, O Son, who made yourself our servant out of love.
Glory to you, the Santo Spirito, that you sow your gifts in our hearts.
Glory to you, O Holy Trinity, that you live and reign forever and ever.
